While we like their bagels and they always got our orders right, I just got off vibes from the guy who seemed to own/run the place. He was rude to his employees, rude when talking on the phone when we placed orders, and one time he made us wait for a pick-up order even though it was ready. He decided to take other customers who came in after us before giving us our orders that had been sitting there all along on the counter behind him. Our bagels were cold when we had them.

Hidden little gem bagel shop in the corner, not far from my mother's old house. The spot is tiny and not much seating available but plenty of private free parking. The bagels and coffee plus bacon egg and cheese were fresh and delicious which to me is the most important part. I'd recommend.

Not only is the lady extremely rude, but I saw a roach on on the counter. Dirty, won't go back .

I just want to start off by saying that the bagels at Maru Bagel are SIGNIFICANTLY smaller then the average size bagel you would get at another breakfast / bagel store. I paid $18 for 3 bagels and an orange juice. With that being said… they have a wide selection of options of lunch foods (sandwiches) and breakfast wraps and egg specialities. I love coming here because it is local and they have a GREAT selection of cream cheeses. They by FAR have the BEST pumpkin cream cheese in the area. YOU MUST try to the cinnamon French toast bagel with the pumpkin ? cream cheese you will love it!

I get Maru almost every weekend for breakfast. My go to order is bacon egg and cheese on toasted everything bagel and it is excellent. I love how they actually pick up their phones so you can order ahead for pick up. Very reliable breakfast place in East rockaway!

Recommend! Bagels and muffins are freshly made on premises, and are delicious, as is the coffee. I bought 2 dozen bagels to bring to my son in Rhode Island because New York bagels are the best (along with NJ ones). The staff is great, and has a sense of humor. Wish this Cafe was located in my town in New Jersey!

I just picked up amazing hot pancakes! So light and delicious.with everything I needed in the bag, syrup butter, plate and forks .I love this place. The chicken Caesar wrap is a winner. Maura is so nice and runs a great bagel shop.

50 years ago.....as a child my family would regularly travel from Bucks County Pa. to Island Park to visit my grandparents. It was a long, but exciting ride up the NJ Turnpike, Goethals Bridge, Verrazano Bridge, and a glimpse of the Statue of Liberty of course. Then we hit the wild and crazy Belt Parkway which somehow ended on Sunrise Highway and that’s when I knew Atlantic Avenue was coming up. We turned down Atlantic and not long we were turning into a tiny parking lot for bagels, I never recalled the name of the place but the bagels and bialy’s were so worth the drive. I don’t know if they are the same owners or recipes, but try them and next time you are there ask the owners and let me know.

Have not been to this place in quite awhile. I usually go to local bagel store in East Rock but in the last 10 visits, they either forgot an item or got order wrong on every visit and have no concept of the term breakfast platter. They charge for everything. Imagine a Diner not giving you home fries and toast with an omelet? So on Monday morning, I stopped here for breakfast, there was a line. Such a small place with a large menu. I ordered the hungry man with no cheese, platter of pancakes with bacon, 3 muffins and an egg bagel. The order was done correct, the hungry man was a nice size sandwich with the product equally distributed on hero and nice presentation. Pancakes were good, muffins were not dry like most places, they were really moist. the bagel was fine. I did read some of the comments but everything has to be taken into perspective. People must come to Maru instead of the local bagel store up the street for some reason. The bagel store rips you off and they don't know how to make an egg platter so as an alternative with a little cheaper prices, we come here. maybe not the best bagels but then again, you cant go to a diner and complain about the Chinese food, LOL. I did wait awhile for my order but they did get the order correct and the staff was friendly. They charge 19 cents for using a credit card but who hasn't found a way to get more money. Will I go back? yes. Maybe I will try lunch next time.
