My family and I had high hopes for this restaurant and we were unfortunately very disappointed. I rarely leave negative reviews but I felt the need to give some insight since other customers seem to have great things to say.The service:We were EXTREMELY disappointed by the service that was provided. There was an overall lack of respect and no attention to detail. The tea they gave us was delicious, but we ran out almost immediately and it was never refilled through our entire meal.We added some sliced beef to our meal, and they took so long to bring out the food that we genuinely assumed they forgot about the order. After a long wait, we decided to just ask for the check and leave. We ended up calling out to the waiter and waving our hands multiples times only to get completely ignored by the staff. I understand that the waiters are likely very busy with the loud environment and full restaurant, but we were practically pleading for any waiter to notice us. When the check finally came, lo and behold, they brought out the beef that we had waited practically an eternity for. The timing felt almost comical. We were just in disbelief. The food:Service aside, the food was not bad at all. The quality and everything seemed pretty good, but also nothing extraordinary. I do believe that for what you're getting, the pricing is a little steep. Usually at a hotpot restaurant you're expecting to eat enough to be extremely full and satisfied. We didn't feel that was possible here without spending upwards of $50 per person. The environment:The restaurant is decorated to feel like 1960s China, with a village-like feel. This was executed very well. The environment is nice and feels like a great place to catch up with friends. I do prefer a more structured style, but the vibe wasn't a turn-off in any way. That being said, I wish the seats had cushions and backrests because sitting on a stone bench was not awesome after half an hour. This was more personal preference, but I think it's definitely a cool place to look at.Overall, if you're looking to come here, I highly recommend you take everything into account. I would recommend just going to HaiDiLao for hotpot since the wait is around the same, but the overall experience is just so much better.

Best and most authentic hotpot you can get in New York. Be prepared to wait. Come at odd hours. It's worth it.

I recommend the mushroom soup. It’s very delicious and mellow. I was very impressed with my waitress. he gave me good advice. And the atmosphere in the restaurant is very beautiful. Decorated in traditional Chinese style.

we live in jersey city, but still make the trek all the way to flushing for their amazing hotpot.the broth is always flavorful and the service is top notch. the place actually is really really big, it's a maze of rooms upstairs with a lot of effort spent on decorating the interiors. would definitely recommend you try walking around the place before leaving.also, we usually visit on during noon to late afternoon on a Sunday. it's around a 30 minute wait time, but you can go checkout the mall behind while you're waiting

Delicious hot pot with your standard array of vegetables, meats, and tofu choices. The mushroom broth had good flavor and the sauce bar had many options (though I found the sesame sauce needed water-dilution). Above average hot pot. Ate until we were full and it only came out to $30ish each.

I have spent significant time in Chongqing and Sichuan and this is the best hotpot I have had in North America. Extremely high quality ingredients and very flavorful broth. The service is also friendly and first rate. For all that, the place is surprisingly affordable.

Very very attentive & sincere services; Some plates are miss, but doesn’t hurt the overall flavor; I think takes times to know what’s really good on the menu. Will be back for sure

The service attitude is pretty good, but I don’t think the taste is worth the long queue.

It's quite popular and tastes pretty good. It's just that the tea cup is too broken, which is unacceptable. So when the tea came, I didn’t dare to drink tea when I saw such a worn and rusty cup. After finishing my tea, I really needed some tea because the hot pot tasted so strong, so I asked the waiter to bring us a paper cup, but he never took it. (Because by this time I had already finished paying and tipping, so a 20% tip is quite a lot!) This kind of service is so disappointing.

Laozao is the first choice for hot pot! The spicy hot pot is super fragrant and delicious? Desserts are especially recommended, including ice cream and fresh milk mochi~Compared with other hotpot restaurants, Laozao is very cost-effective and is the leader in the hotpot scene!

Everyone know there are tons of hotpot in Flushing, and I can officially claimed this is the #1 among all of them. Their services, food selection, vibe, and reasonable price, and most importantly, authentic sichuan taste, very impressed to me. This is not the first time visit review, I have been here more than 10 times already.

If you like spicy food, you should definitely try this restaurant out!!! The spicy soup base is delicious. The waitress gave some suggestions me a lot. The waitress tell me the exact time each food is needed to be cook for to make sure I enjoy each of them in their most perfect texture. My favorite one is Snow beef embracing Okra. Highly recommend!!!

Very delicious, especially the bottom of the pot is very good, and the dishes are also very fresh. The surrounding decoration is also very atmospheric, and the service and attitude of the waiters are also very good, making people feel very friendly. Overall, five points of praise. There are just too many people, and sometimes you have to wait a long time to get in line. I hope the boss will open a branch hahaha.

Super delicious! After eating it, I still want to eat it! Because Lao Zao is addicted to hot pot! The ladies and brothers are all so cute, and the Northeastern cotton-padded jackets they wear are also very atmospheric. It’s just that the queue is a bit difficult to queue up, especially on weekends. But there’s nothing I can do about it. It’s okay to wait a little longer just to eat. ?
