I dined here on a Friday night during primetime and the food was terrible. I ordered the Red Snapper plate that comes with rice and black beans. The snapper filet tasted old and was fishy smelling!!! Maybe I just ordered it on the wrong night, but there's no excuse to be serving this to customers if the fish is no good (even the sauce garnished over the fish could not cover up the fishy taste). The yellow rice was not moist and not tasty, and like the fish it also tasted old and stale. Similarly, the black beans were also not very tasty. I've ate at many Cuban restaurants before so I know what these foods should taste like, and I don't think I have overly high expectations. I ended up eating only 60% of my food and threw the rest out. Also, the food is pretty overpriced, ~35+ for this plate in Forest Hills?

Cabana is everything I expect a Hispanic restaurant to be. The menu isn't as extensive but it has great variety and everything is worth trying. The churrasco is my to go plate, but I recommend trying the Paella, the Pollo a la Jamaiquina, or Camarones al Ajillo. Want a drink? So many mojitos to try, you can't go wrong. The ambiance is great, music fits the bill but not loud enough you can't hold a conversation. You'll never feel rushed. Service is probably my favorite from all the experiences I've had. Servers like Nancy, Patricia and Oscar really make the visit enjoyable; they know how to treat people and are always attentive. I mean, at the end of the day, that's why we go to restaurants, to enjoy food and have a pleasant experience.

I have been a patron of this restaurant for many years and I am still sad about the closure of its Manhattan location. The fact that I now have to travel to Queens for a taste of their cuisine speaks volumes about my dedication. The food never fails to impress, and what I particularly appreciate is the consistency in flavor. While I must admit that the Ceviche mixto and the bacalaitos have been underwhelming, the mojitos, in any flavor, are consistently top-notch. However, the true star of the menu, in my opinion, is the skirt steak with coconut rice and black beans—it is quite simply the love of my life!

This place has been here forever & because of that u tend to forget it's here, it's been a minute since my last visit so figured it was time for an update. We came early Sunday afternoon no problem being seated, once seated we started with some drinks. I had the Pomegranate mojito hubby had the Watermelon mojito both very good decent amount of alcohol by the time we left had a nice buzz. We got an order of the Yuca fries to start, good yuca nice taste & not greasy which I really liked good w the garlic sauce. Main dish I had the Pollo al Ajillo, garlic chicken w rice & beans great tasting chicken went well w the rice & beans. Hubby had the Arroz con Pollo, very good nice & flavorful we added chorizo. For dessert Cafe con leche & a Tres leche cake which also comes w strawberry ice cream, very good ice cream , great tasting tres leche good together very sweet the tres leches the ice cream not as sweet. Location wise small, nice bright colors for the decor, smaller menu than I recall which is a good thing, good service & some decent music playing. Prices have certainly changed a bit on the high side , regular for now a days & they do give u decent portions so it's doable. I decided to up the stars since so far the last few visits have been very good, a staple in the area this place is worth the try.

Been here a few times and always enjoy my food. They had a special which was the red snapper filet in criolla sauce which is onions, peppers, capers and olives in a tomato sauce. The sauce and fish were really good. You could tell that the fish was very fresh. It was light, flaky and had a buttery taste to it. I did come away a few scales but it didn’t take away from the overall taste of the meal, just an annoyance. I originally had the arroz con gandules but rice was a bit overcooked so I opted for just white rice and black beans. Beans can definitely use a bit more flavor though.Had a raspberry mojito that was mixed perfectly and was very refreshing. Definitely recommend.Service was great and he was very attentive and helpful with suggestions.Parking: There’s street parking that is metered until 7PM and then free. Or there’s a parking garage by Target that’s about $10 or so dollars.Wheelchair accessibility: While there’s a ramp to enter/exit restaurant, just know that it is a tight fit indoors.

I am actually mad at myself for not dining at Cabana sooner! The service, food and drinks are outstanding. There are many flavors to choose for a mojito, but I stuck with the original and it was perfect. For appetizers, my friend and I shared the Bacalaitos, which are fried salt cod cakes with a creamy guacamole sauce layered between the cakes. We were hoping they wouldn't be greasy or overly salty, but this amazing dish was neither. The ceviche mixto was literally the best I've had in a restaurant in the area, and I have even ordered on a delivery app once since because the octopus, shrimp, scallops, and calamari with red onions is sublime. The texture of the seafood is exactly what one would want and is excellent quality. For dinner, although we were actually full already, we shared a special of the evening which was steak with shrimp, plantains and rice and beans. The steak was so tender and perfectly cooked. The shrimp had the perfect bite and the seasoning perfect. My friend always likes to have a vegetable on the side, so we opted for the Cabana salad which was unique with mixed greens, tomatoes, heart of palms, queso blanco, onions, and a black bean vinaigrette. We left extremely happy and will be back soon.

Really good food! I thoroughly enjoyed myself. I love that part of Forest hills. Best strawberry daiquiri I ever had! And that's saying a lot.
