The food was fresh and hot. The fries were seasoned well and crispy. The collard greens and thai chili wings were good also.Make sure you get the "Act Up" drink if you are 21 and older. It was the highlight of the meal. I will definitely be back. The staff was friendly and nice. They got us anything we needed. he ambiance is laid back and chill.

It's cozy but you definitely feel like family. I took my husband, dad, father in law and kids out for fathers day and it was wonderful. We had Sunday brunch with great food amazing drinks the dj played the best hits and the staff.....fun happy attentive 100% on point. I was also able to make a reservation in advance. It was such a wonderful experience I had them cater of 4th of July bar b q at my house. I'll be returning.

I have been meaning to leave a review for this restaurant. The mac and cheese was so good here. So good I ordered more! I wish the containers were bigger but I also get it lol make that money! I came here for brunch and had the unlimited Belinni option. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. The drinks kept coming and the food was flavorful. What more can you ask for? I will return! By the way the music was good and at the time we went it wasn't overly packed. It was an early afternoon on a Saturday.

We ordered so much food from this place and although we've been here once before (years ago) a lot has changed. Last visit, i loved the baked beans this time i didn't enjoy them at all. The mac n cheese was actually better this time and the potato salad was very bland and just okay. The fried fish was extremely salty! Too salty to enjoy. The collard greens, yams, fried shrimp and buffalo wings were good. There were a lot of hits but some misses. The service was fast for all of the food we ordered. It's convenient if you need that southern flavor fix. I would go back again.

Grabbed some takeout for dinner this afternoon. Everything was awesome! The only confusing thing was the smoked chicken thigh/leg in my combo was chopped up into small pieces. I have not been here since 2018, and it seems to me they have got the fires smoking hard, I highly recommend this place!

Best bbq place in Freeport. Very friendly staff. I really loved the Lemon Pepper Honey and Jerk Wings. The brisket is very good. It's more like steak texture. For the ribs, I would like it a little more soft. All the side dishes are very good too. I wish they had tap beers. Especially on a hot summer day.

Amazing Drinks, Humble customer service & hospitality with great music vibes! A Must on Nautical Mile!!! The photos don't do the food & Drinks justice, you won't be disappointed. Congratulations Kenny! - Miami

Celebrating the start of summer and 4th of July weekend at this awesome spot-black owned and professionally run. The owner Kenny came out to greet us and took care of the whole night. The food was really good. My friend LOVED his burger--said it was the best burger he ever had. That's huge! Brisket chuck and short rib made up this beefy trifecta...very impressive. My cousin loved his candied yams and baked beans. The empanadas were fire! Solid drinks. We decided to sit outside and it was the perfect night for it so it was kinda perfect. The weather was awesome and we even got to peep some fireworks yay! I highly recommend this place...so cool and cozy!

Food- had no flavor like NONE The service- there was NO ONE else in the restaurant and the service was ehhhh. There were random men I assume also worked there on their phone on speaker speaking extremely loud I guess since no one was there- but super unprofessional. And ambiance? The bar was a MESS clutter EVERYWHERE the nicest part of the place was the bathroom! Parking is also a mess there's no where to parkWe came on a weekday so there was no excuse for any of this-we heard the food was good- I'm super disappointed Read all the bad reviews on here They are accurate Side note 18%gratuity is included

DO NOT COME HERE...unless you have 3 hours to waste. Today is Father's Day, and I decided to bring my family here for a late lunch/early dinner. Earlier in the week, I asked my father what he wanted and he chose barbecue. I did my research and chose this place. I was going to make reservations but when I called, no one answered the phone. Red flag #1. We came down anyway, and were met with a line out of the door. It was quite obvious that this place is a bit on the smaller side, but it wouldn't have been a problem. The wait was reasonable- maybe 15 minutes. My mom remarked that the music played loudly when she went to put our name on the waitlist. As we sat at our table, I noticed that the other tables were large seatings, so I figured that food may come out slowly. Now, keep in mind we arrived at 4:10 and were seated around 4:30. It took 10 minutes for the server to come greet the table and take drink orders. We noticed that Sunday brunch is not mentioned on their site. Again, we were expecting to eat barbecue, not breakfast foods. Red flag #2. Our server then came back to take our food and drink orders. She misheard the order and forgot one drink. Unfortunately, we didn't see her for another 20 minutes or so. Again, this venue is small and packed, so I figured she was busy doing other things related to packing to go orders. The trouble started then - I looked at my phone, and realized that it was 5:20 and we had not received our food order yet. **our server did come back once before to ask about drinks and subsequently correct her mistake.**We called over to a gentleman who seemed to be expediting/running the food. I asked how long it would be until we were going to be served. He said while motioning towards the table of 6 across from us, "we just brought out this table's food. Yours is up next." That seemed to be a reasonable response. Maybe 10 minutes go by and still no food coming out. Another couple of minutes or so pass and then the food came out for a totally different table, which I thought had already been served. That was the tipping point. This table of 2 + a newborn had been seated for about 15 minutes prior to us being seated. My family stood up and promptly left. An hour plus wait for brunch? Not my vibe. Maybe during other days the service is better. Who knows?

I visited this restaurant for the first time for a Father's Day dinner. The wait was reasonable, about 15 minutes. There was a DJ so it was almost impossible to carry on a conversation I was disappointed because I was expecting ribs and brisket from a BBQ restaurant. They were only serving brunch which consisted of grits, pancakes, waffles, fried fish, shrimp, etc, None of these items require a huge amount of prep time. So I can't understand why I waited for an hour and a half for NO FOOD. During that wait time, 2 small appetizers came to another table but no one else was being served. We finally left without tasting anything except water and lemonade.I'm always happy to see a black owned business and I understand that the industry is extremely difficult but they must do better.

If I could sum up Backyard Barbecue in a few words it would be GENUINE and Lip Smacking Good!! Luckily it wasn't packed the time we walked in (Memorial Weekend/Saturday). There were only 3 other tables occupied at that moment and we were perfectly fine with that. I'm sure it'll be different in the evening. We had the pleasure of being serviced by Cassie (the tall one), John and Co-Owner Kenny. Cassie greeted us as soon as we walked in and told us we could sit any where we wanted. A few minutes after sitting John approached us to inform one of the booths became available & we could relocate as soon as he finished sanitizing it. My greedy self was hoping Brunch was being served but that's only on Sundays. Cassie was Personable, professional, and funny. She took our order and I believe also made our drinks. We ordered the lemon pepper wings & clams for our appetizers. It was my 1st time having L&P wings and they did not disappoint!! We ordered the 2 meat combo and chicken Qtr with sides. Took majority of our food to go because we were full (except for appetizers). Blue Mai Tai and Legspreader(modified version)=Good. L&P wings= Good. Brisket= Good. Qtr Chicken= Good. Burger= Good. Candied yams, smoked mac n cheese= GOOD. Pickled onions & pickles=Good. Fries= Good. To the non pork eaters the Collard greens is cooked w/turkey. Listen here.....the smoked flavor in the chicken added so much flavor!!! There was minor snafu which they brought to our attention, we understood and had no problem adjusting. Kenny and his team were apologetic and accommodating. We understand and know things will happen. The Drinks and Food ARE GOOD at this establishment!! Kenny you didn't have to but you did and WE APPRECIATED IT. The HOSPITALITY and FOOD is GOOD. The mural adds a nice flair. Their bathroom is clean! I love that they actually sanitize the table(s) after a patron leaves. They have a repeat customer in ME!

Backyard bbq restaurant review This place needs Gordon Ramsay! Lol Just saying how do we have reservations we arrive on time. We get seated 10mins after. They come to the table about 15min after being seated. The girl takes the order we are 4 people they had a prefix menu! We think the food should come out at a decent time! We asked about 45mins after the girl took our order to see if they had a status. it was a bit busy but the place is but so big! We asked The man and he says he sorry but that that's why they passed around some baked clams thinking that will hold us. Only thing going for them is the music. We waited another 45mins and left. Total time 1:45mins no food. It's sad I was told the food is very good. Maybe next time!!!

Saturday Dinner!Dined here with a friend on a Saturday night around 9:30pm. We were able to get a table as soon as we walked in. The space was lively with a great playlist, ppl sitting at the bar and majority of tables with patrons. Once seated we were greeted by our lovely waitress January. She gave us menus and allowed for time to look over. Starting with a cocktail I went with a Whiskey Sour. This was not on the menu but being that they have a full bar I asked for it and received. The Whiskey Sour was bomb! Perfectly balanced so I decided to have another. As for my meal I had the pork ribs with Mac n cheese & yams as my side. Everything was full of flavor and sooooo good. My friend had the brisket with greens and yams. His brisket came out ice cold but the sides were hot. Totally confused by this we alerted one of the employees who said they would bring out a new plate. A different employee came over and only took the brisket back to reheat. Once it came back out it was hot but a little too cooked for my liking. All in all besides the cold food we enjoyed ourselves. I would definitely return, I hear the brunch is amazing!
