3.5 rounded up to 4 Stars Note: this is not a sit down/waiter service restaurant. No Hibachi Show here! It's more of a fast casual cafeteria style restaurant. But for what it is, I think it's pretty good. I've been so insanely busy lately that I found myself looking for a decent late night meal. Here on Long Island, most places shut down extremely early; except for a few fast food places. So when I came across Mufu Hibachi & Sushi the other night, I was happy that I could get a hot meal so late in the evening! They did not disappoint! Now, is this the best Hibachi meal that I've ever had? Definitely not. But for what it is, a fast casual restaurant, it was pretty good. Tasty and satisfying, and it sure beats McD's, BK and Wendy's! I've been to Mufu twice these last two days. These are the menu items I've tried so far: -- Mufu Hibachi Chicken & Beef Combo ($11.45): it was served over a heap of rice (your choice of white or fried), and some veggies. Ask for extra sauce if you're a saucy person like me. The chicken was definitely better than the beef. I usually like my beef prepared medium rare, so this beef was too well done for me. Next time, I'd skip the beef and try the salmon or shrimp instead. Very satisfying meal. Don't be surprised if you have leftovers: portion size is generous. -- Pork Cutlet Curry ($13.50): The crispy pork cutlet came over a heap of white rice & a tiny bit of salad. The Japanese Curry came in a container on the side. I wish there were more salad and less rice. I liked that the curry was on the side so that you can put as much or as little curry that you prefer. This was a great curry dish. If I were craving curry, I'd order this again, and maybe try their chicken cutlet. Mufu also serves Sushi but I haven't tried it yet, so can't comment much about their Sushi. Their Sushi menu consists of Sushi Rolls, Specialty Rolls and Sushi Bowls. They also have Bento Boxes, which consists of Hibachi entrees with California Rolls, Chix Dumplings & Spring rolls. Note that Mufu has a Loyalty Card for their Hibachi items only. Get 5 stamps and your 6th Hibachi meal is Free! Customer service is very friendly, efficient and fast! Their dining room and restrooms are clean and well maintained. Most people do take out but there are a few tables in their large dining room space for indoor dining. Recommended for a quick meal!
Wasn't expecting much when I walked in here, unassuming place to say the least. Staff was very friendly and welcoming, place was incredibly clean, and the food was awesomely delicious! Will surely be back!
