Why have I not been to this place yet???? Am I okay??? What a TREAT! I was looking for a classic Chinese food restaurant with vibes where I can sit down as well. My friend recommended. EVERY thing was DELISH! The service was wonderful. We had class won ton soup ( 10) egg roll (10) Gen Tso chicken ( 10) and the special fried rice. It was so good! Ended with tea and ice cream. Can't wait to go back, please don't ever change!

My son and I enjoyed a wonderful evening meal together at Orchid - Hot & Sour soup plus Steamed Branzino for me, and Sesame Beef for him. Everything was delicious! The soup was spot-on super tasty! Steamed Branzino was absolutely superb!! My son's Sesame Beef was equally superb!! Ambiance and service are old-school, attentive, and great! Definitely, I recommend you go there for excellent, high-quality, old-school Chinese food.

Not cheap. Food is unique and very, very good. Atmosphere is super Gordy which makes it absolutely awesome. The waiters wear black suits and bow ties. We enjoyed.

Hidden in a basement in Garden City lies one of the best-kept dining secrets of Long Island. If you have a birthday, anniversary or special occasion coming up give it a try. Or if you are simply craving delicious food go there. You will not regret it.

I was in the are and decided to have Chinese for lunch. Google led me to Orchid. Once you get over descending into a basement, you see a nicely decorated retaurant with cloth civere tables. Dated to be sure, but much nicer than most chinese restaurants. The menu ws a single black and white paper.I ordered some Chow Fun and soup. Also asked for tea. The tea arrived in a teapot, very nice, and it was good. Food came soon after, and it too was delicious. The price was a bit higher than average, but the food, service, and ambiance were well worth it. I will return to try dinner.

Absolutely fantastic service! Greeted warmly and immediately seated. The waiter brought over a child seat without having to be asked. Our appetizer was like instantly brought to the table and was hot and tasty steamed dumplings. We ordered the House Special Fries Rice but without shrimp (due to fish/seafood allergy), the Sweet and Sour Chicken, and the Orchid Duck. We started with authentic noodles and sweet n sour sauce. Delicious. The food was amazingly cooked and seasoned. Nothing was salty or oily and the portions were enough to feed two! We left with Togo bags and enough for lunch ore even dinner for tomorrow. The restaurant is downstairs but there is an elevator in the rear parking lot. The restaurant itself looks amazing and the chandeliers are an elegant touch to the ambiance. Even though pricey (definitely more than $$), we were impressed and will definitely return!

My wife and I celebrated a milestone anniversary when we were surprised for dinner at the Orchid by 10 of our family members. I must say that the food, the ambiance and the service were outstanding and made for a memorable occasion! Everyone in our party, including several out of town family members, loved every dish that was ordered! I've been coming to the Orchid for over 25 years and can honestly say I have never found a better Chinese restaurant! If I did not live over 30 miles away from the Orchid, my wife and I would eat here every month!

Get ready for a disco inferno vibe in Orchid's subterranean space, replete with mirrored ceilings, bright red carpeting and a beautifully decorated bar. Felt like a time warp from the '80s, in a good way! Started off with drinks, including a Tsingtao beer kinda overpriced at $10. Wonton soup and veggie spring rolls were very good, small portions. But we really came for the Peking duck which didn't disappoint. Loved the perfectly crisped skin, moist meat and elegant presentation with all the trimmings - thin wrappers, scallions and plum sauce. Our friendly server even made our rolls for us, a first in my long time experience! House special rice was packed with yummy ingredients including egg, pork and shrimp. Excellent taste with very little oil. Orchid is accessible by stairs or elevator through the back entrance. It's a large space so reservations aren't necessary except for large groups. Pricing is relatively high but Orchid is a unique and elegant place, so worthwhile for a special evening.
