Went for the first time and had a very nice experience. Our server Brandon was friendly, smiled a lot and attentive. Looking forward to returning and possibly making this restaurant our new "go to" place. Can you get Luxardo cherries for your Manhattans? Hint Hint Thanks again!

First time at this well established restaurant was New Year's Eve... a challenging night for any restaurant. Old timey upscale ambiance, best Caesar salad and tartuffo ever. Also loved the risotto with scallops and the meatball appetizer as well as the stuffed mushrooms. The owner, Carlo, was very accommodating with our party size changing twice in 24 hours- introduced himself and brought us a glass of port after dinner. We loved our evening there and will be going back, for sure.

We had special guests with us for dinner, and La Bussola did a fantastic job with the food and the service. 3 out of four people switched to the Braised Beef Rib special after initially ordering other dishes, and were very glad they did, as it was outstanding. Dessert of Chocolate mousse cake was also excellent. Highly recommended!!

Wasn't sure what Comedy night would turn out to be, but it was fantastic and fun. Food/service great as usual BUT would have liked to have been able to order from the regular dinner menu. Great time as usual!

The food was excellent as always. We were a party of 7 & had almost all of the appetitizers, each one was great. The wait staff was attentive, friendly and professional. La Bussola never disappoints!!

Food and service were great despite the resturant being busy on a Friday night. The Scallops were tender and and seasoned just right. My wife's chicken parmigiana looked and smelled so good I had to taste it. I was not disappointed. We look fwd to our. next visitl

Waiter was extremely rude and negative and inattentive. Got 2 orders wrong. Simple apps took 40 minutes and we had to ask for drinks and extra dishes. Place was not crowded. To make it even worse, it was my mom and aunts birthday. My mom lost her husband so her first bday alone and my aunt is stage 4 bone cancer, and it can be difficult using utensils. The waiter was extremely rude to both of them. I am extremely disappointed in the way the evening turned out.

This food was FANTASTIC!! Truly fantastic!! We've found our new place!! The artichoke was to die for as were the scallops over risotto, the linguini and clam sauce and the pollo piccata!!! The owner Carlo was checking in us regularly and so charming and helpful. Waiter David was great as well!! We will be here as much as possible. You'll be sorry if you pass up this fabulous restaurant!! 10 stars!!!

After a rough boat ride into Glen Cove, we went to La Bussola and we were not disappointed. The service, food, and ambience were all exceptional. We were greeted with great enthusiasm and received great advice as to the best menu items and wine. Will definitely go back if we visit Glen Cove again!

Despite our late arrival, minutes before kitchen closed my party of three flying in from Europe on the day, we were served with a smile and a delicious meal and ambience was just what be needed after a tiring day of travel. Looking forward to our next visit. Roger, Chryslene and Martin.

Disappointed

Food was excellent. Plenty of menu items and some unique dishes that you don't find at other Italian restaurants. Service was excellent. The owner even came out to greet us. Great local place. Glad we found it. Will be back.

Food was very good; however service was not attentive. The only attentive employee was the server responsible for refilling water. With as many good restaurants in the area, this one is not worth returning to. The service is just not worth the food .

Specials were on a printed card on the table, with prices, and all sounded excellent. 3 of us shared 2 orders of the special salad, which was delicious, although some might have felt there was a bit too much dressing. One had the fig stuffed with gorgonzola, wrapped in bacon, which he said was very good too. 2 of us had the lobster fra diavolo special for our main. We both asked that it be not very spicy, which they accommodated, which made us know that they were individually made. The lobster was excellent, the sweetest tasting best cooked lobster I have had in a very long time. One person wanted the seafood over pasta substituting the squid ink linguini, and that was no problem at all. My husband, who is not a fish eater, decided on the halibut piccata with artichokes and sun dried tomatoes, also excellent. Warm bread was on the table right away, drinks were served quickly. We had tartuffo for dessert, they make their own, one pistachio/strawberry, one chocolate chip/vanilla. The owner came around and we talked about how long we had been coming, very nice touch. The only thing, which seems to be common in restaurants, we waited a while for the check.

I want to like this place. It's been a fixture for decades. But somehow, whenever I return to give it another chance, service is always lackadaisical and the wait staff and kitchen don't understand dining out requires PACING. The cooking isn't bad, but dining out isn't cheap anymore. The place never tightens up its act.

Been going here since it opened about 40 years. The owner is the son of the original chef who actually brought this type of food to Long Island. It's still great and he continues to treat you like family. You should definitely try it.
