“I only ordered what my grandmother would make so that I could compare and have that home-cooking comfort! Nothing is ever as good as grandma’s cooking, but needless to say this is close #2!!! Arroz con gandules, mofongo with pernil, and alcapurria was my favorite but you cannot go wrong with anything. A small, cash only place that has a true homey neighborhood feel. Just waiting to go back!“
“‘The Freakin Rican’ rocks! I got a Pernil Sandwich with fries and a Guanabana drink. I loved how warm the food was and how natural the drink was. The Spanish music was amazing. The atmosphere was amazing. I even loved the aesthetic of the restaurant! Definitely planning to comeback??!“
“I’ve been going to Made in Puerto Rico since 2018, and it's hands down one of my favorite Puerto Rican restaurants in New York.As a Puerto Rican myself, stepping into this establishment feels like coming home—the atmosphere, service, and food are simply unparalleled. The addition of great music completes the experience. Saturday, have a great brunch with a live band. Kudos to Freeze for the consistently top-notch hospitality that makes every visit memorable. Highly recommend this gem ❤️??“
“$25.00 for a plate of pernil, octopus, arroz con gandules, ample portion and well worth it. The guy has magical cooking skills. Lechon is falling off the bone, everyhing is delicious, tasty. It's in the Bronx, well worth the trip. He is leaving for Aguadilla, Puerto Rico soon to open a Lechonera there. What a loss. The guy is so charming, really nice man. Food is just amazing.“
“Great place with lots of food variety. True PuertoRican food. Good price and friendly staff.Parking: If you are lucky, you can find parking on the street. There’s lots of traffic in the zone and people drive carelessly. Have to be careful crossing the streets.Wheelchair accessibility: Not easy for wheelchair.“
“Had an amazing dinner with my husband at the very friendly, hospitable, and professional Counter & Bodega restaurant. I made 5:30pm reservations, but they accommodated us an hour early with a smile. Bryan and Joanna are the best. They take such great pride in the food and service they provide. The ambiance, along with Hector Lavoe playing, made us feel like we were back in Grandma and Titi's house as kids, waiting for a tasty pastelle and a sneak swing of Coquito. No le digas nada a mami si no quiere fuete. Best dinner and time we had in a long time. Book a reservation, you won't be disappointed.Dietary restrictions: They made sure there was no dairy in any of my food due to my allergies.“
“I love the environment of this spot and the food it's truly great, they have the best preference for Latin food in Brooklyn, the help is astounding, and the server Nora Estrada takes my request and is truly kind, in the event that very much like Latin food this is an ideal spot for you.? ??“
“As a Latina, i can say the following statement: THE BEST EMPANADAS IN THE CITY. So delicious, they even have their name branded on the dough. Just, so creative with the fillings. I got the shrimp and guava/cheese empanadas and I had to order more. Please come in here and try them out. You will not be disappointed !!!!!!“
“Loved this spot! I came here on a Tuesday night and it was empty but I liked it like that! Music was great and everything was great. I loved their food and their white sangria! I can’t wait to go back to try more of their dishes and go on a weekend when I can party with the regulars!“
“I love to support my people but I've come from staten island two Saturday's in a row and have been turn away. Was told they weren't taking orders. Finally the 3rd Sat I ordered 4 empanadas de carne and two sodas, paid almost $25 only two find each empanadas had less then half in meat. The empanadas should have the meat falling out of them at the price we paying.. very disappointed..Sounda like your saying that you cook the empanadas with raw meat. I've seen my many family member make empanadas and the meat is put into the empandas already seasoned and cooked and only the shell is uncooked so that don't make sense too me.“
“My experience at this amazing wonderful restaurant was one of joy . The food speaks for itself delicious plain and simple. The gracious owner of the establishment She made it pure enjoyment. Definitely recommend the breaded steak was one of the best I’ve eaten. Can’t wait to come try something “
“This place is a gem . If your looking for authentic Spanish food, then you must come here. 915 St. John's Avenue in the outskirts of the South Bronx. Alcapurrias and pastelitos that will have your mouth watering and wanting more. Definitely feels like a real Latino experience. Not a fine dining location , but if your humble and want to enjoy possibly the best alcapurrias and pastelitos in the Bronx , if not in all of NYC then you should definitely check this place out .“
“Love this place for a nice dinner. It’s great for a dinner date or even with family. The drinks are great. I love their blue lemonade. You can’t go wrong with any of them! The service and food are delicious. I usually have their cheese mofongo. Niurka is the best hostess. She’s very attentive. They even had a live band when I went tonight.“
“Food was absolutely amazing. One of the best yellow rice’s I’ve ever had. The steak was cooked perfectly. I couldn’t believe how much food was given . I wasn’t expecting such a large portion but it did not disappoint. I love the fact they had a live DJ during the week and they played a nice variety of music. Excited to come back on a Sunday and try their brunch! The host/server was a younger Hispanic male, super nice and attentive. (Sorry I didn’t get his name) bar staff was friendly greeted us and said thank you as we left. Bathrooms were clean as well“
“Zoralie Restaurant in Manhattan, New York offers decent food at reasonable prices, especially considering the location. However, its drawback lies in its lack of accommodation for non-Spanish-speaking customers. The staff's inability to communicate in English can be off-putting for some patrons. Fortunately, during my visit, another customer kindly helped translate, which greatly assisted me. Despite this language barrier hiccup, the overall dining experience was satisfactory, thanks to the helpfulness of fellow diners.“
“Their Super Bowl will be amazing because they have a lot of screens. I always recommend their roast chicken with any choice of side. Their Margarita with Flavor is AMAZING, all that food and drink for ONLY $11. You can't beat a great atmosphere. .“
“If you grew up in a Puerto Rican household hold this will be perfect to get that nostalgic feeling. They had live music on the day we weekend. It brought me back to when family and friends would just enjoy each other company with some drinks and fried food. Everyone was nice and felt like we knew each other for years.“
“By coming here, you put aside all snobby expectations and your mission is only to have some real bomb @ss food. Bro I cannot put into words how good and real it is. Both kinds of alcapurria here (banana and yuka) to start and follow with anything else. The ladys are nice but try to know some Spanish.“
“This is a Chinchorro where you can dine ? in or take-out. The gentlemen were nice and very hospitable. The place is very clean ??. They have authentic Boricua food the Morcillas are delicious ?.Vegetarian options: Rice and beans, boiled green banana and more“
“The food is good. it’s located at a food truck. The gentleman does bring the Roast Pork and food from a separate oven into his food truck, Saturdays and Sundays only. It is worth the wait standing on lineParking: It’s located in the south Bronx“
“This is the best restaurant I have ever been to. I am in awe. The vibe, the community, the food, the strong drinks. It's all impecable. The Cuban sandwich is out of this world and the service is just as good. These people are amazing. You have to stop by.“
“Their food is delicious! I'll definitely would love to make this a regular lunch spot or when I don't want to cook I 100 percent recommend ? I can't wait to try their other dishes! I'm pregnant I'm waking up in the middle of the night thinking about it ?“
“I recently visited Sofrito in Harlem with friends for a delightful dinner and drinks experience. The ambiance, with views overlooking Riverside Drive and the water, was truly breathtaking. Plus, their valet parking for only $20 was a convenient perk given the area's parking challenges. Now, onto the main event – the food! I opted for the whole pernil with rice, beans, and sweet plantains, priced at $40. The portion size was generous and utterly satisfying. We also indulged in their chicken, beef, and Cuban empanadas, all bursting with flavor. Personally, I couldn't get enough of the beef and Cuban varieties. The Chuletas De Cerdo were juicy and impeccably seasoned, while the chicharrón de pollo and carne frita were equally enjoyable. The atmosphere, enhanced by a DJ spinning classic and current hits, made for a memorable experience. While the service was quick, we felt a bit rushed out by our server(s), which was slightly disappointing. Additionally, some dishes were a touch too salty for my taste, and the tables near the windows felt a bit cramped. However, despite these minor drawbacks, I would still highly recommend Sofrito for a fantastic dining experience in Harlem.Parking: $20 for valet“
“It was pretty cool. Only downside for me is that their chicken was flavorless. I ordered chicken wings regular but at least expected to have some flavor. But overall I absolutely loved their drinks! The Hennything possible was pretty good. And their incredible hulks.“
“You GET wat u Pay For. IF U come Here complaining with the price and the amount of food they give. NOTHING CAN SATIFY YOU, LETS BE FOR REAL. ITS DECENT FOOD FOR A REALLY GOOD PRICE. I GIVE THEM THEIR FLOWERS! Shout out to Once to be Known "CuchiFritos!" (WEIRD NAME LOL)“
“Great to enjoy good Latin cuisine and good dancing music . I highly recommend it. Can get crowded Friday and Saturday nights.Vegetarian options: I'm sure vegetarian dishes available.Wheelchair accessibility: Right from sidewalk level.“
“Review update: I bought five empanadas, three spinach, two shrimp, and one piña colada drink. I bit into one of the spinach, and there was plastic wrap within the spinach empanada, so it must’ve been fried within the spinach empanada and the taste of the shrimp empanada is not the same anymore, so this place has fallen off. I hope I don't get sick from eating plastic-filled empanadas. 12.7.23 updateYummy in your tummy. Bombdiggaddi...with awesome sauce. < this review was 5yrs ago“
“This is my third time here. I kept coming saying ok let me try one more time. Unfortunately I just can't go there again. I asked for Mofongo de Churrasco. I get a piece of meat with a tiny piece of Mofongo on the side. I almost cry when I saw my plate. If I wanted Churrasco with a side I would had ordered that. I expected better from the cook but unfortunately they are not Boricua. Mofongo de Churrasco is a good size of Mofongo and in the middle of it pieces of Churrasco etc, even integrated etc would had been great. Also the flavor of it all was horrible. This was more like a cheap skirt steak. My cousin had bistec encebollado. Was bad as well. Was sooo thin n cheap flavor. Looked more like a sandwich steak. The appetizer of tostones with ropa vieja, omg baaad. The ropa vieja was flavorless tick and rubbery making the tostones sooo saggy and wet. Ugh im just so disappointed. Is embarrassing at the same time going to eat "Boricua" food and being the opposite. The server that heard my complaint told me to give them one more chance. I just cant ???“
“Great food, kind folk, and great service. It's a pleasure getting food from here. Especially their hot meals. Hand's down, better than most of the delis around here. I gave atmosphere a lower rating because I'm an introvert lol I get overwhelmed “
