We love photographing weddings at the Halyard. Even in December (and on a drizzly day), this spot has so much to offer! Filled with cozy, beachy charm and beautiful waterfront views of the sound, we had so much fun creating photographs in this space and celebrating the couple! We can't wait to return.

This restaurant with a fabulous view of the Long Island Sound and great sunsets at The Sound View Hotel has gone back and forth between great and not so great entrées I guess that's dependant on who the chef is at the time and now it's great again with my wife's fish and chips being fresh crispy cod that wasn't oiley and my delicious mushroom and shrimp risotto with the optional burgundy truffle shavings washed down with a nice bottle of local Raphael Sauvignon Blanc making for a solid all around fabulous evening with My Love!!!

Our server, Bianca, was delightful. We had an inside table overlooking the LI Sound. Unfortunately it was chilly and the sun did not cooperate but the water itself was relaxing. We had the parsnip apple crab soup which creamy and had a lot of crab but could have been hotter. We didn't want to send it back. Husband had the lobster roll which he liked; I had the cod which was tasty. The brussell sprouts were a little too charred. Desert - I had a smoked cinnamon gelato and decaf cappuchino; Husband had s'mores and the same decaf. I had won a Visa GC in a raffle and attempted to use it and was told that all the restaurants don't accept this GC anymore because of fraud. That was a little off putting. However, it was a nice evening with great views.

Nice restaurant but more for summer with the outdoor space. Food is generally nice but not great. Service is very good.

We always enjoy sunset dinner at the Halyard. The salad and scallops were fabulous. The Cod was good, great dish as a whole. I think it may have sat in the kitchen for a while as it was warm. One of our favorites are the fries, surprisingly they seemed under cooked and barely warm, almost mushy. Not up to the usual high standard.

Shrimp cocktail for apps tasted great. Hot lobster roll was rubbery and overcooked, not hot, the bread was burnt and the fries were bland and cold. Short rib entree had no salt. Dessert was brought out to us with a candle for our anniversary but we didn't like this option. S'mores tarte was over sweet and marshmallow chewy. Good concept poor execution. And we waited for 40 mins for our entrees.

We went to Greenport with the special intention of ending our day with dinner at The Haylard. We absolutely love this restaurant. The view is beyond compare...but the food, service and atmosphere are all SPECTACULAR too! We will definitely be back and hope to stay in the beautiful Soundview next door. For us it is a bit of a ride, so It is such a great place for a date day trip and or overnight/getaway. One of our top restaurants to go to.

You pay for the location and the view. The menu is limited, so we would have hoped for great execution, but were very disappointed. The gin signature cocktail was undrinkable, the other cocktails were average at best. The lobster roll ok but with no or minimal dressing, and the salad that came with it was literally a handful of greens with some dressing drizzled on it. One portion of fries was also extremely oversalted.

We all had such a lovely dining experience at the Halyard Restaurant in Greenport, Long Island. Beautiful views overlooking the water. The staff was amazing & so nice! I enjoyed the best Panko crusted Halibut with oyster mushrooms, glazed Pearl onions with a carrot purée sauce Bourguignonne I have ever had in my life! My son James loved his Red wine braised short rib with potato purée and sautéed Brussel sprouts and bacon beef bordelaise along with Garlic & herb fries and warm Garlic Focaccia bread and butter. Our friend loved the Beef Bolognese entree with garlic & herb crusted semolina bread and a S'mores tart dessert. Absolutely beautiful time at this restaurant.

As always The Halyard was a great experience. We stayed at the Soundview Inn next door, so we had an all inclusive experience right along the beautiful Long Island Sound. The menu was great and service excellent. This time of year is very quiet so we had a very personal dining experience. The only negative criticism I have is the extremely expensive wine list. We love enjoying a good bottle of wine with dinner but the cheapest one we could find was over $80. There also weren't many local wines offered, quite odd considering we live in the middle of a significant wine region of New York. But, overall, we had a great time and will be back again.

Food was ehhh, service was bruuuttalll , Angel or whatever pronoun he she they was awful , Alley bartender in the piano bar was great . Manager or owner looking guy brought our wine to wrong table , short rib was fatty . Live in the area , sunsets are great but reevaluate . Rooms are sub par , pray you dont have people above you , paper thin ceilings. Charge you amenities and parking ...for what . Last time here good luck .
