The Smoker

We've stopped into Penny Lick several times since we moved to the area in 2016, and every time I say "never again!" The ice cream is consistently dreadful - icy, grainy and flavorless. We decided to give them one more shot last week and again, disappointment ensued. I ordered the lemon bar and orange creamsicle flavors, and they were both awful - neither tasted like citrus at all, let alone like lemon or orange, and both were completely grainy and half melted. I took one bite of each and threw the rest out. My better half's flavors (mint chip and rum raisin) were slightly better, but still grainy, very bland and too sweet. Prices have also gotten insane - $7 for two scoops of ice cream that ended up in the garbage can. This time, I mean it - NEVER AGAIN.

Had one of our few yearly trips to Penny Lick today to treat our peanut allergic son. Ice cream was delicious as always. We got to sample a few flavors before deciding. The gentleman working the counter was amazing as always. He is such a delight and always chats with us. Knows all about the flavors available and helps with deciding what to get. We got to sit and enjoy chatting with him while eating our ice creams, and our son even get seconds after deciding he'd like to try a milkshake- something he doesn't get to do often due to his severe peanut allergy. We are so thankful for peanut free stores such as this, where our son can be comfortable and have a moment of normalcy. If we didn't like 1.5 hrs away, we would visit at least weekly. We normally bring a cooler with ice and ice packs to take pints home, but today we did not have that with us. Love their take home pints!! Will be back soon!! Thank you so much!!Dietary restrictions: Peanut free as well as other allergens.Kid-friendliness: Fun store with cool signs on the walls and in bathrooms. Lots of fun toppings for your treats!!

The ice cream here is amazing! Hastings on Hudson is cute small town right on the river - grab ice cream here and explore either the small shops or take it to a park bench by the river.

Very small but endearing. Great selection and taste. Friendly, helpful staff. Definitely recommend for that small shop feel with original flavors and tastes.

Yelp suggested me this place as I was trying to find a decent ice cream shop on the way back home from a hike, and my friends and I enjoyed it. The ice cream is super creamy and gooey and their flavors are innovative. The staff are so cool, they seemed like best friends which is always a happy sight.

The shop & ice cream are great. However the guy working the counter today @ 3pm needs some more training on customer service. Not friendly at all and rude.

This is a nice little ice cream shop with friendly staff and a good variety of flavours. There’s also some rotating seasonal flavour options. I had a scoop of the blueberry jam ice cream and it was tasty, although slightly icy. My wife had the honeycomb ice cream and that one was really good. There’s also options to purchase pre-packaged pints. I definitely look forward to returning to try some of the other flavours.

Visited on a hot day. Really cute shop. The older gentleman behind the counter was awesome and super friendly. The customer service of the high school kids was hit or miss. Lol! They had a lot of interesting flavors like sweet corn, and grape nut. All of the flavors I sampled were ok. You can tell they use quality ingredients, and the ice cream was nice and creamy, but the actual flavor was kind of lacking. Everything tasted a little… bland (for lack of a better word). I got milk chocolate and fika. I could barely tell the difference between the flavors and the chocolate was really pale and didn’t have great chocolate flavor. I’m usually a fan of simple, clean flavors, but this was a little too simple for me.

they don't list the ingredients and they dont tell yuliy the ingredients when you ask for them so its unfair to people who need to know what theyre eating for health reasons.

This is our favorite ice-cream place! We took our nut-allergic/dairy sensitive niece and our nephew recently and it was the highlight of their visit. My husband loves the vegan dark chocolate coconut and I adore Chocolate Malt (as well as Mocha Macchiato and Maple Salted Caramel). ?Our grown kids go for Milk Chocolate and Fresh Mint Chip. Truly delicious homemade ice cream! The staff is friendly and Hastings is a quaint town to explore while you munch!

Limited flavors and one of the cashiers was a bit (thumbs down to not say other words). We went there 2 days ago, the red hair girl wasn’t very nice.

i come here every time i'm in the area (... and sometimes come TO the area just to drop by here). the friend and i who originally discovered this spot actually returned on our second visit with a cooler so we could bring home pints of ice cream to nyc - it's that good.on the recommendation of the owner on my first visit, i tried the honey comb, which i've ordered every time since. i've combined it with other flavors - aloha coffee, lavender (i believe - can't find it on the menu!), chai latte - but nothing beats the perfectly brûléed bits of sweetness in the honey comb ice cream.i also appreciate the cute wall art of ice cream scoops and the ample seating and space to just relax and enjoy your perfect cone. definitely come here!
