Delicious and authentic Chinese food! Great portions for the price, and some of the tastiest food in Ithaca regardless of cuisine. We didn’t get the hot pot. The spicy chicken with peppers, cumin lamb, and bok choy were flavorful and came out hot and fresh.

Like I do not understand why does this place has such a high review. I am with a part of five and we order four dishes for lunch. Starting with the food, we ordered cumin beef, spicy chicken, pig intestine and frog. The food is very blend and tastes boring. It taste nothing like Chinese food. Personally speaking, I think the food that were made are from instant sauce, not even freshly made. The food portion were so little and after seeing the portion size, we decided not to order more. Next, there was no SERVICE provided beside ordering and serving what we ordered. Bring what we ordered requires 18% tips after the sales tax. I thought tips are calculated before sales tax. Overall I don’t understand why does this place has such a high review. This place I personally do not recommend and is such a discrimination to Chinese food.

麻辣烫，麻辣干锅 were what we came for, rare deal in many states. Great food. Forget about service, don't really care. They seem to include tips in bill by default, fine by me as well, just don't give extra tips.

The food was fine but the service left much to be desired. The regular menu looks good, but the hot pot was a sad experience. Did not come with bowl, was over priced, and the cleanliness was lacking. The sauces were bad quality and they charged for more than we ordered. At least the beef was good.

More than 30 pieces of grilled whole fish and fried fish taste like an overnight dish. Maoxuewang has no blood. Zero service. Tipping is mandatory.It’s such a shame that this restaurant has gone downhill from one of my fav to first one blacklisted in Ithaca Chinese restaurants.

Solid hot pot + amazing Sichuanese. De Tasty is a staple for Cornellians and Ithaca folks alike. The hot pot is comforting and consistent. The broth could be more flavorful. Garnishes (veggies, noodles, mushrooms) are a bit sparse but adequate for a small solo pot. They have a small sauce bar on the side for $2 as well.Sichuanese here is always a hit. Highly recommend the Mapo Tofu or spicy fish stew. Large family style portions that are perfect for sharing. Would recommend the entrees here over the hot pot.Prices are reasonable given the portion sizes and quality. HEADS UP: There is a 15% service charge automatically included in the check.Perfect place for large family/friend outings and cold snowy days. Will definitely be coming back ?

Food was cold, numbed mine and my friend's tongues while eating, and gave us both food poisoning the day after.Menu included a mandatory 15% service charge which feels disingenuous because people will tip after it and I don't get the point of me not being able to decide the tip amount. This in particular because the service was frosty and it felt very unwelcoming.Not happy with the food quality.Better skip and go to any other place nearby.
