A terrific addition to the High Peaks Info Center is this small restaurant! You can eat on their patio, or get food to go. its purpose is to serve hungry hikers, either before or after a day (or less) of hiking. As such, it offers sandwiches, full meals, sides, a variety of drink option from hot cocoa to beer. Unfortunately, it doesn't have a website, but you can see sample menus (menu always subject to change, but it's posted daily): and other sites.
After a long hike back from camping at Lake Colden for 2 nights, we were happy to discover "The Hungry Hiker" at our parking lot. We were expecting basic hamburgers or hot dogs, but found a diverse menu instead. The tacos were damn good!

Stopped here after the summit to Mount Marcy and I was so relieved there was a delicious place to go by the trail head! Lots of the people we passed on the trail were also enjoying their delicious food and drinks. I got a veggie burger (they offer gluten free buns!) with a side of slaw. I also got a locally made cider from Vermont. Their dessert of the day was rainbow sherbet that was super refreshing. Food came out super fast and was delicious! Thank you to the kind staff!
