I've been to this establishment a few times now. Foods always been on point especially the wings and staff is always friendly (Thats if you can tell who they are, because they always have random customers behind the bar)What's not always on point is the atmosphere I think there's only been 1 time in the past 2 to 3 years I've stopped in and there be more then 8 people(including staff)And this has now been the third time I felt uncomfortable due to racism & other forms of bigotry. Tonight one dude asked if he could be racist. I obviously objected next thing you know half the customers were being racist & bashing religious veiws.

This is the most amazing place, not only because they have the best experience at mining Herkimer Diamond than the competitors, (and I say that due to my experience having mined a few of the competitors) but add on top of that the fact that it’s all shaded which makes a world of difference. But the #1 thing that makes this place the best is the hospitality that you are given from the moment you step out of your car to the last moments you have as the owner drives you back out of the mining areas so you don’t have to walk anywhere! But the bathrooms close by the mining areas! He personally drives you in as well! They have geologists on site really eager to give you a hand in any way you need and the owners 3 sons are awesome!! Don’t forget to say thank you and come off a tip when you are given their service to carry your equipment into the car, they are young gentleman and deserve learning that hard work is appropriated.All in all I have enjoyed each trip to the mines up here, everyone of them have great things to offer but these guys are way my favorite because they offer the whole picture including real good people who make you fee welcome from the start and feel more like a good friend by the time you leave. They are great people with huge hearts and they are all just as involved with the experience as you are! You will want to go back the minute you get home. Oh, they have animals (calves and goats) on site for the kids and you to pet which is a great distraction when the young ones get bored picking up all the diamonds that are everywhereYou will not regret it, take my adv and check these guys out

Came through town on a Monday on a cycling trip and this spot was right up the street from our hotel. Cozy little dive bar with some food options. We were thrilled! Unfortunately, the drinks were extremely over-priced. After paying $9 per drink for a captain coke and a vodka soda, (most expensive drinks we found all the way from Cleveland to Lake Placid) we hit the c-store and sat at the hotel instead. Steer clear unless you like to overpay.

Genelle is the best bartender around. This was a welcoming place for people passing through and a location we want to visit again. Two fun nights under our belt at the Happen Inn and I hope more to come if we end up in this part of NY again!

The new bartender who was working on November 12th at 9:30, asked for our ID as we never have been asked before. One of us was just a rode for a friend and I personally wasn’t drinking. Then she proceeded to tell us to leave after trying to figure out how our friend was getting home. She then said you need to talk about this outside in the 20° weather. She was absolutely disrespectful and they had way more issues to worry about than us being there to DD our friend.
