Super fresh. Glad to support this small business.

Solid food (including presentation) without the expected price tag. I wasn't expecting much when comparing the prices here to others around the area, but was mind-blown by the quality of everything we received, and the speed at which it came out.Notable dish - this was some of the best gyoza I've had.

Delicious food I recommend the Kumaondo Oyster-plain, from Seattle, don't forget to ask for a O-toro sushi. But the best for me was Fluke this is not to be missed. OMG deliciousThe attention in the bar was spectacular and we had a very good atmosphere celebrating our ??

We have been here so many times and we always have the best experience! The stuff is friendly and the food is amazing. We also saw them cleaning the kitchen 3x because we usually come late, and believe me, they do a deep cleaning as it should be!We tried almost the full menu already lolBut our favorite is the ume roll and the fire dragon roll!

Such a friendly atmosphere. I've been eating Tohei's food since 1994. It's not just the food that makes this place great, but also the experience. I moved out of NYC a few years ago but always try to make a stop at this restaurant when I am back. This time, I brought my partner, and both of us our big foodies. He had such a great time (it is all about Tohei's friendly attitude that make the experience so much better - he also makes your food with love which makes it taste better), my partner asked me why I waited so long to share this gem with him!!! For vegans and vegetarians, you should feel extremely comfortable eating here without having to guess if the staff knows what is and isn't vegan. Most sushi places offer a few basic rolls like avocado or avocado and Cucumber. However, tohei is extremely creative. My favorite is the garden roll with Cucumber wrap instead of rice and nori. My partner and I also enjoyed many of the other vegan rolls too. Do not skip on the side salad - the ginger dressing (also vegan) is the best!!! I love to dip my rolls in it too! All in all- this is one of my favorite neighborhood spots, even though, I am not a local. I'm always happy to visit. There is a reason that myself (and others) drive long distances to stop by when in town.Vegetarian options: Tohei is extremely knowledgeable about what products contain fish and which are completely vegan. I've been eating at this restaurant since 1994 and I can attest to all the vegan options (e.g. agedashi tofu [no Bonito on top], the numerous and very tasty vegetable rolls that are not your traditional (e.g. a boring Cucumber Avocado roll), and even most of the sauces are vegan (e.g. ginger dressing, miso paste).

Found my new favorite sushi spot in LIC! Although we tried more cooked entrees, I'm looking forward to returning to try more of their special rolls. The staff is really friendly and the ambiance is great for date night. It's a bit quieter on a Friday than Sapps (another local sushi spot in LIC). On average, the prices are a couple dollars less than at Sapps. When you leave, the sushi chef says thank you & goodbye, which I thought was kind and worth mentioning. Can't wait to come back!

This place is my favorite sushi in NYC.High quality, fresh, generous portions, affordable, amazing staff, and beautiful courtyard. The sexy roll, marble roll, and sushi pizza are my favorite. I’ve tried other places in LIC and this is the best.

This is my sushi go-to since moving to LIC in 2016. The sushi and appetizers are always fresh & delicious. The chefs and wait staff provide friendly, attentive service. The restaurant has a gentle, calming ambiance. You'll be greeted warmly when you enter and thanked for coming when you leave. A charming pleasure to eat here.

Overall really good quality food for a good price - one of the better spots to grab sushi in LIC. The outdoor dining is really nice and perfect for a cool night. They have a large menu so many options to choose from but the sushi quality was great! Definitely fresh fish and you can tell all ingredients were quality. Looking forward to coming back soon!

seafood soup, beef negimaki, bento box and sushi were great! Great quality/price ratio. Salmon and tuna were of great quality.

Absolutely delicious, with a peaceful and friendly atmosphere. Unique spins on familiar staples here and there that are inspired and welcome. Instantly one of my favorite Japanese restaurants not just for the area but for miles and miles.
