everything was outstanding. we were the last table of the night and we left as they were closing up but they treated us like the first table of the evening. service was great. food was very good. chicken milanese can feed two people, which makes me question what kind of chicken they are using because this single chicken breast was bigger than my head. i understand the chicken is butterflied and pounded thin however from my experience in food chicken this big is usually lower quality chicken. aside from that, like i said everything was great. very expensive, a good spot for a special occasion.Vegetarian options: there are vegetarian options hereParking: limited street parking in a busy area

Focaccia is wonderful and comes with a bit of surprise (very good!) oxtail empanada? One of a kind, excellent. Sea-bass taste good with rich flavours. The Milanese is nothing special and the portion is surprisingly large. It would be better if they can offer half of that portion with half the price.

In the epic saga of my dining experiences, R40 emerged as a beacon of hope in the dark land of mediocre meals. Like a knight on a quest for the Holy Grail, I ventured forth, my taste buds armed and ready. The skirt steak was not just food; it was the Excalibur of meals, the sweet potato puree, big the shining armour. The winter salad is another you cannot miss. THATS the dish that conquered everything. I could not remember to take photos of the salad because I devoured it too quick.

Parillada-overall 5/5, first time trying sweetbreads and I wasn’t a fan of the texture. The chicken, the ribs, the skirt steak, the sausage were all super flavorful, executed perfectly and complemented by the chimichurri and salsa criollla that was served with it. The blood sausage threw me off guard as I’ve only had from the cuchifrito spot so it not having more grain to it was different.House FocacciaSo amazing. Must try. Also the olive oil it was paired with was great quality and it says a lot about the thought that goes into every quality of this restaurant experience. Ours tonight had mozzarella red onion and maybe something else drizzled with hot honey, dipped in the olive oil… the perfect bite!Basket of Empanadas-my favorite had steak, golden raisins, potato and egg. Mind you I’ve always thought I’m not a fan of raisins in my empanada, but this was different. There were a few things that seemed like a Mediterranean touch here, this was one of them.-second fave hands down was the seafood empanada. Lump blue crab and shrimp, it tastes so fresh. I want these to be sold in Mystic, CT so I can have them while overlooking the Mystic River, ok thanks.Fries were also great.Salad was perfectly dressed and fresh, such a nice way to balance the delicious smoky meats.Strawberry Lime Agua Fresca - Thank you for having a terrific non alcoholic option that wasn’t boring. Appreciated the crisp lime, maybe it was charred. All in all, as an artist, design is a huge part of the R40 experience. It’s a trip for your senses, the vibe is wonderful, staff and service was very attentive to detail as is every part of the restaurant. Everything is curated, even the bathroom had a unique design and it was beautiful how you can see the wine cellar.Come here, bring your friends and family, come here with an intimate group, just come. Keep supporting places like this that are here that magically feel like a world of their own.

I love this spot. My top destination to bring friends and family when they visit LIC. So beautifully designed and the backyard in the summer is so lovely. Highly recommend!

We loved our meal at R40. The restaurant is a lovely, cozy space. The staff was helpful. The food was delicious. We were a party of 6 and had the focaccia special, a basket of empanadas and all were delicious. The main was the special rib eye which we shared with the addition of the skirt steak, fries and market salad. It was plenty of food and we loved everything we ate. They only had one dessert, a flourless cake which was very good. It is odd that they only have one choice and no coffee, only tea. Maybe they don't want people staying too long? We had two bottles of wine, as well. The lowest price on the list is $70. At the end, including tip it came to $135 each which for a restaurant like this is very fair. I will definitely add this to my list of favorites.

WOW! This place is a neighborhood gem! The Caesar salad has a nice Manchego twist to it. Get the empanada basket! The chicken milanese was fork tender and that swordfish.. Whew! Come hungry because they definitely serve nice sized portions! Definitely worth the price. Beautiful restaurant. We WILL be back on our next visit to NYC!

This is the second time at R40 and we loved it as much as we did the first time. All the dishes were delicious, the service was excellent, and the ambience was lovely. The dishes that we particularly loved were: Mussels & Spanish chorizo, the skirt steak with crispy yukon potatoes and butternut squash, and roasted Kabocha squash & chili garlic.

Honestly was mixed. I liked the atmosphere but for an Argentinian restaurant the chimichurri is scarce and the steak was dry/burnt and under salted. The empanadas were not traditional and the papas provinciales were truffle fries not even close. No parsley garlic I can sense. The waiter upsold my group to where there was too much excess. The bass was great. The focaccia and drinks were amazing. Charcuterie board was mid with items like mortadella :/. I don’t know if it was busy and so some details were not finessed so I may try it again with just my wife.

I was very grateful to have Courtney again as my Server for she once again excelled in providing efficient and top-notch quality service! She truly is superb in promptly and efficiently attending to every detail and request and in clearly and thoroughly communicating all relevant information pertaining to the menu. Last but most certainly not least, Courtney is always highly courteous, kind and patient!

Service was excellent ? food was mediocre. Skirt steak was chewy to the point it was almost inedible. A few dishes were under flavored. Aunt's swordfish was very soggy. Chicken was delicious as well as the empanadas. Spent around $400 on 4 people with drinks.

R40 is a gem for a guys' night out! The empanada basket is a true delight – each bite bursts with flavor, and the variety is impressive. The Paradilla is a carnivore's dream, offering a diverse selection of perfectly grilled meats. The cocktails are top-notch, with a range of options that won't disappoint. The waitress was attentive, enhancing our overall experience. R40 is a fantastic choice for a night with the guys – great food, drinks, and service make it a winner!

Cesar Salad had a fishy aftertaste. I know Cesar dressing has anchovies, but I've never had one with a fishy aftertaste. The Chimichurri had no flavor. It just tasted like olive oil: no salt or acidity. However, the drinks were delicious, and the ambiance was amazing. The focaccia was amazing, and so was the chocolate cake. The restaurant has potential, but paying $200+ for a good app and dessert isn't the best restaurant experience, regardless of how good those two portions of the meal were.
