“Love it here! My husband and I have been twice since discovering it a month ago. The food is really good. We’ve tried the curry goat, curry chicken, jerk chicken, and stew chicken so far. My favorite dish has to be the jerk chicken plantain cups. We also tried the culture clash and the rum punch which were both great drinks.The owner (Mo) is awesome, he’s such a friendly guy and we were engaged in conversation with him the whole time we were there on our first visit. “I called the restaurant today on my daughter’s birthday (2/26/24) to ask for a table for 5 people including two children. I was told there’s not enough seating for everyone but they would gladly accommodate us at the event space next door. I agreed. My family arrived at around 6 and the two ladies took our order and Yvonne took a few minutes to prepare the table for us. When she led us into the room we were so delighted and astounded! The place was so beautifully decorated, and she managed it in a very short time! All the food was delicious! She made my daughter feel so special, she danced with the girls and helped cut the cake! I was very lucky and blessed to have been given this wonderful memory! It was such a pleasure to meet Yvonne, she is so sweet and has such a good heart! “Omg one of the best customer service experience I have ever experienced in a HAITIAN restaurant. USUALLY I don’t like going into haitian stores because of the rudeness , but not this place, I was greeted by pops who took my order and he was just a breath of fresh air ,and amazing , great conversation , I would have ended up buying everything there if I stayed any longer lol ..he wanted me to taste everything .. from KREMAS to a taste of his macaroni .. he wanted me to try everything lol ? .. I Bought some patties and a fish lunch special .. it’s an amazing thing to have a lunch special and still get great quality food .. small fish for 20 dollars was a really good price came with rice and plantain. I love the little piece of lemon they had with my fish , it says they pay attention to little details, even with a lunch special.. my patties were properly coded since I bought a variety of different kinds. I GIVE THEM 10 starts .. food quality was great and flavorful as well. .. can’t post fish pic because by the time I wrote this review I devoured the fish lol.. sorry.“
“The place is nice and the food is pretty good. The issue remains the same, the restaurant space is compact. Perhaps better in the summer time if there is outdoor space to help with seating etc. Overall, I had a great time, the music was lively and the energy of the staff and DJ was refreshing. I didn't like the fact that you don't get an actual receipt while dining at the tables (you do get one at the bar). So it's difficult to analyze what you're being charged. The fact that gratuity was included was not disclosed so you could tip twice if that wasn't your intention.“
“I did take out so I can't talk on the ambiance but as far as service goes they have excellent service and great timing. The curry goat is okay it wasn't spicy enough but the meat was seasoned and cooked thoroughly. It's definitely a look if you like medium hot curry.“
“First time getting food from them. Honestly the first time I ordered(via Doordash) a month ago they ran out of oxtails and cancelled my order. This time I ordered Oxtails, Jerk Chicken Empanadas and Mac & Cheese via Seamless to pickup. They cancelled the jerk and Mac. Pretty disappointing.But besides that the oxtail were meaty and flavorful. The sauce tasted tomatoey which was fine. Rice & Peas were fine as was the cabbage.Id get food again I just need them to either have food advertised or edit their online menus to what they actually have.“

“The people and the food, juices, and elixirs are wonderful! What a find!!!! We had sone delicious fresh juice and the lovely woman brought us samples of their elixirs , which were delicious and so energizing. We had the spinach and lentil turnovers which were also delicious... I was not expecting such health food to be so delicious. We needed to sit outside because we had a dog and they were so concerned about our being in the sun that they offered to move their canopy over us.The whole experience was so filled with genuine love and kindness. I wish I lived closer, I'd be here all the time!“

“The best Roti shop in Queens hands down. Every time I go to Queens, I make it my duty to go get a few Roti from them and they never disappoint. Roti is flavorful, authentic, Fresh and the portion is generous, they not stingy at all with the amount of food you get. Price is also great. I love this place. I highly recommend D Roti Hut if you want a roti that tastes like roti from back home in the Caribbean.“

The workers were very pleasant and also gave me a sample dish of some other food they serve to try out which was their chicken chow mein, oxtail, cook up rice and fried chicken. “The staff and owners were friendly and engaging and happy to help us decide what to order. We were treated like family even though we were visiting for the first time.I had the whole snapper with creole sauce and black rice and my wife had the chicken with creole sauce and yellow rice with peas. Starting with a huge fresh salad that we shared and ending with a complimentary slice or two of traditional cake, every part of the meal was a delicious treat.The whole red snapper was cooked to perfection with herbs and thinly sliced peppers and onions and floating in a plateful of rich, fragrant sauce. The rice was piled high on its own plate and served with fried plantains. It was all accompanied by a small side bowl of spicy-hot relish made with pickled cabbage and scotch bonnet peppers. The chicken my wife had was tender and juicy and served with the same creole sauce.The food was absolutely delicious and what made it more special was the obvious care and love that went into the preparation and welcoming way that it was served. When people really care about their food and share it genuinely and generously, it draws you in and brings real happiness.Thanks so much for a perfect meal!“
“Ok so, this is gonna be long. Ok so I'm a Jamaican and usually stay away from Jamaican restaurants because lately they seem to be cutting corners. I'm a chef and from the old school of real Jamaican cuisine. That being said, the food here has flavor, some dishes are way better than others. The thing I don't like, is the outrageous prices for such small plates. I get it, people gotta make money but when you give your customers a little more, they come back often. Also, the waitress is nice but need training on timing. Bring utensils first and if its a couple, bring both meals together, not bring one plate then 10 minutes later you bring the other.. I like the mature Reggae music played while eating on Friday evening. Oh a live band at 10pm but different genre of music so could be socca , reggae or whatever . I prefer the reggae band. Now after the band finished, the DJ ticked me off. I hate when him cut upp the music after 5 seconds. People were upset about that. Dj could be ok but have no clue how to watch the floor. If see mature people, run the music n stop the cutting up and play the song Dem. Chu man. Me vex and leff. Hellooooooo. adults spend money suh if music nice people wi spend cause Dem dance and sweat. Ok so, i went into details n hopefully the owner reads this and edit as necessary cause my presence can expand your establishment if you listen. Great location , with some adjustments this place could sell aff. I do this for a living, go into businesses, assess whats , great and what needs adjustments and make suggestions. Get it done !! “If it's one thing I appreciate from this place is the portions. Now a days it's hard to find good homemade type food for a decent price. But at Uncle Don's they don't skimp out. I love the sweet plantains. Rice and peas was a bit dry but the flavor is still there. Jerk chicken has flavor without overpowering everything else. The Spicy Beef Patty uff.. my favorite. The staff is very friendly and helpful. It is a great establishment for this community. It brings good & delicious carribean food to this part of Long Island. I highly recommend this spot“
“Went for the oxtail, but they were out of them early. I guess that means they are goid. I like the goat curry. It is flavorful with a bit of bite. I like really spicy, but my stomache no longer likes spicy. Getting old sucks. This would make a good lunch gor me. Those that want more spice, ypu can always add their habernero hot sauce.They only have room for a few seats if you want to dine in.“
“I've never had any food from here that I did not like and I'm very particular about what I eat. Not only is the food really good, they give good portions and the prices are fair. My absolute favorite is the stewed pork on a double with chickpeas, shadowbenny and tamarind sauce. 10/10 recommend! The staff is cool and the atmosphere is really laid back. They have a bar inside but I've never dined in. They also have a seating area, but the restaurant is mostly good for takeout. My mouth is watering just thinking about all of the delicious food there as I write my review! lol“
“I’m from VA and I was at my brothers home for Thanksgiving in Jamaica Queens. The day of me leaving to go back home I wanted some authentic Jamaican food. Here it was!! The food is amazing, service is great. It’s very clean. I got the Oxtail with rice and all I can say WOW!! While I was there I asked the staff member ackee and of course she had it with fried dumplings. That was amazing ?! This will be ato go place for me every time I visit my brother. The combination of everything is mindblowing. Best oxtail I've ever tasted. The buttahflap that encloses the patty, macaroni & cheese, and oxtail is the best finishing touch. All these flavors. Crazy! The place itself is cozy and unique. I love the colorful artwork on the side of the building. Will be back again and again!“

The drinks were good and strong. The tacos and my friends’ entree (the lamb) arrived first leaving me feeling awkward waiting. When I did receive my food, as I was enjoying the last of it, my friend got the check so we could pay and not have to wait as we wanted to leave by a certain time. Unfortunately, as we paid our bill the bartender automatically threw napkins in my 2/3 finish entree. Subsequently, she took away my meal before I could completely finish it while simultaneously dumping my condiments all over by accident. What an icing on the cake. I got the rum punch ($8) it didn't taste like a rum punch but it was still strong & sweet. I had the curry chicken, rice & peas & steamed veggies, I enjoyed it but wish it had more spice. The Playlist was playing old skool reggae, hip hop & r&b. The bartender Keyosha was attentive & friendly. They have hookah after 7pm for ($35) , I shall return to try the hookah & red snapper. Our party had different dishes like the Elmont pasta (a play on Rasta Pasta), traditional oxtails, and of course my steak. I got 5 buss up shot roti and buncha veggies to go for breakfast. 2 different eggplant dishes, one of which is salsa consistency with onion and peppers. Also, curried channa, and aloo with pole beans as well as dhal, and few other mixed veggies. Everything was delicious with the roti. The roti was made fresh, so I had to wait 15 minutes. The staff was friendly and the place is clean and intimate with a few small tables. It's like eating a nice home cooked meal.“

“Whenever I am craving for a Smokey, juicy, slightly spicy flavored j*** pork, this is the place that I go to. This is a tiny place that offers Jamaican foods which includes J*** pork, j*** chicken, salt fish, ackee, liver, pumpkin soup, beef patty, chicken patty, rice and peas, curry chicken, curry goat, oxtail and a lot more. Mainly a take out place. Today, I came here to buy "**** pork only" as I already have rice at home. It can be bought for a quarter of a pound, half pound or one pound. Half pound will cost about $11.00 +. They offer a variety of sauce but what I mainly like is the spicy orange sauce (Jamaican hot chili pepper) and the red sauce which is slightly on the sweeter side. The price per portions are reasonable. Everything the I have tried here before was delicious, flavorful/not too strong and always the right seasoning and taste. You will always be warmly greeted by the very nice lady on the counter, service is fast and quick. Give it a try.“
“I came across Tamarind Island's Insta page and it had me drooling so I knew I had to try it. Arriving on a Saturday afternoon, it was bustling and people were in and out. There are a few tables to eat at as well as a couple of seats by the window. I can't say I ever had Trinidadian food before, but the one thing I knew I had to get was the doubles with chickpeas, because that's what first pulled me in. It was fantastic. I'm not sure I ever had chickpeas so flavorful and yummy. The bread was light and pillowy. Also tried a roti with chicken curry. The roti itself was a large portion served along side a plate of chicken curry with some potato. Another wonderful delight. The chicken was tender and the flavors, just so good. I had to stop myself from ordering more, but I am looking forward to going back for more doubles and some other dishes to try.“

I didn’t get much of the seasoning to proclaim its authentic jerk chicken. It was super disappointing due to the fact that’s what I like the most and was looking forward to the most. However, the guy at the cashier was very nice & helpful. The place is clean. You serve yourself and it’s by the pound. It was dead in there. Very empty but food is 7.5/10. “We are so happy to have discovered Trini Bites on Long Island. It was a pleasure from the moment I spoke to Renee ( the owner ) to the time I went to pick up our Christmas dinner she cooked for us ! The food was off the charts good !! . We ordered beef / shrimp wontons , chicken roti and chicken Pelau . It reminded us of the way my mother in law and Granny would cook when they were still with us. I can’t wait to order again and try more of the menu !
