This place should be called American trash. The food is JUST THAT! My Greek salad was so salty and soggy. Cacio e Pepe had no flavor and was a big bowl of nothingness. The fries were cold. After this experience I will not be returning to this over hyped so called New York establishment.

Everyone in our large party will keep on writing these reviews, until these stars go down to 2.0, just so we can advise ppl to Stay away from this terrible place, food made me sick, our server Katie, was the worst and rude, I will never return, and I’ll tell everyone to keep on writing horrible reviews ALL OVER THE INTERNET about that discriminatory type of service!

Was mediocre! Don’t waste your time, I’ll tell my 10,000 social media followers what a horrible place this is, The waitress called Katie was rude to us, I’ll tell everyone from our party and our friends to keep on writing this review on here and all over the internet, The appetizer was delicious, but some of the main dishes were over salted! It was just not the experience I expected after all the rave reviews I’d heard before! Wouldn’t return! Was mediocre! Not really worth the hype!

Having a restaurant with white table cloths, exorbitant prices, and no beer on tap called a “bar”represents everything offensive about dining in New York. The kitschy wicker chairs were uncomfortable, the lunch crowd hideously loud, my silverware had specks of grime on it, and, when someone at our table dropped a knife, the waitress never returned with the promised replacement. The food, however, was good — I would have enjoyed my $32 French Dip significantly more if our waitress had offered me a box for the second half instead of carrying it off before I could say a word.

I don’t write reviews. I feel obligated to tell the locals and tourists to not come here, and not as some vendetta against this bar that I have frequented before. I accidentally split my drink and the bartender refused to pour a refill; rude and dismissive. I’m actually disgusted by the service to not only myself, but I was embarrassed to take my guests from out of town here. The bartender with dark hair was infantilizing and had zero clue on empathy and customer service.

A group of 6 of us came at noon and who knew American Bar is a VIBE for lunch. Ambiance was almost better at lunch, I don't know what it was.I ordered the espresso martini as I know they're GAS here, but immediately regretted it when I tasted someone else's breakfast martini. The fusion of Tito's, Orange Marmalade, and lemon had me feeling like I was sitting on the beach in the South of Italy under a striped umbrella just enjoying my existence. Not Positano though, it gets too crowded. We started with pigs in a blanket and they were straight heat, as they almost always are. They are undebatably one of the most underrated appetizers in the game. Pigs in a blanket gotta be 6th man of the year...The 3 of you that consistently read my reviews know that I'm on a quest to find the best steak frites in the city, so when I seen it on the menu I had to pull the trigger. The 8oz hanger steak came with maitre'd butter and some well done thin fries. Not steak sauce on top thank GOD. When a steak comes with steak sauce, one can't help but wonder what they are hiding. What you scared of? Let that steak be eaten for what it is.The steak came medium rare and was cooked PERFECTLY. Fries were good to but to be honest I am a sucker for some thick cut fries or shoestring fries. One extreme or the other... that's personal preference though. I mean everything kind of a personal preference ahahha. We got the check and headed to the Spaniard as one does after a meal in the West Village. All in all, I have it ranked 3rd on my NYC steak frites ranking behind Virginia's and Pastis. I've only tried like 8 though ahahaha they be expensive.IG @jnov_Tiktok @jnov_reviews

We came here on a recommendation and really enjoyed our meal. We ordered the tuna tartare, the pork Milanese, the cheeseburger and the chocolate chip cookie ice cream sandwich with Oreo crumble. We visited back in Canadian Thanksgiving (October) and I am sad to see the pork Milanese isn't on the menu anymore - I believe the chicken sandwich replaced it but my pork dish was out of this world. Thin, breaded perfectly, NOT overcooked (which is common with amateurs of this dish) and loads of flavour. We also took home leftover because it was HUGE. We were a little underwhelmed by the tuna tartare as it was light and fresh but didn't pack too big a punch with flavour. My husband and I also shared the cheeseburger which was juicy and delicious! We are huge burger fans :) Lastly, the chocolate chip ice cream sandwich - there is something so special about a warm gooey, cookie but with melting, cold ice cream and Oreo bits to add extra flavour. It was a wonderful dessert that had us limping out of the restaurant because we kept insisting we had to finish it. Worth every bite. The service was quick and the restaurant has both indoor and outdoor patio seating. A spot you won't want to miss!

I recently dined at American Bar. After being seated outdoors, I had an unpleasant experience. While dining, I noticed a cockroach where I was seated. A few minutes after, I saw someone scrambling around as there was a rat in the terrace. Not to mention there was an unpleasant scent in the terrace. My appetite for the subpar food decreased. This was disgusting to watch and tainted my experience.

We had a great brunch here. A little pricey but the service was excellent and the pancakes were ELITE. Gets crowded but the patio is heated and enclosed so you can eat outside any time of year.

Make a reservation for dinner - it gets crowded! We had a reservation dinner for an early meal at 5 on a Sunday and the restaurant filled up quickly. The ambiance is dark - but really nice for an intimate meal. The decor is very pretty and they had beautiful menus. We ordered the spinach and artichoke dip, which was delicious - it had plenty of artichokes in it. The crispy brussels are also a nice add for veggies. The classic burger was so delicious - it was juicy and flavorful. The fries were also perfectly crispy. Overall great meal, lots of good looking menu items!

We stopped for lunch and had no problems getting a table. Definitely on the pricey side for lunch. Service was slow. We got salads, turkey club, and the burger. Food was good. Pretty nice decor.

Busy for dinner but each table had space to have a conversation. The staff were very attentive and helpful.Portion sizes were generous! Especially the salads!
