(Once again I'm asking that you don't allow my horrible photography skills to color your impression of the food I review, but anyway) This place is great! Ordered online and it was ready the minute it said it would be. The man who gave me my order was very nice, the space is beautiful, as is the food. Ordering extra injera was overkill on my part, but it's delicious, so I'm not complaining. Ethiopia has truly mastered vegetarian food, and Awash has a great selection. A true celebration of spice and seasoning and all the best things vegetables can be. Don't miss the Gomen, their collard greens were absolute perfection. I can rest easy knowing I've found my go-to spot for NYC Ethiopian food.Vegetarian options: To be among their vegetarian selection is among the highest honor a vegetable can achieve

My first taste of Ethiopian was at Gojo in Nashville and I have been looking for a place as good. This was resturant # 4 or 5 and is by far the worst. The shiro wat/wot is my favorite yet here it just tasted like eating a spoonful of black pepper. The flavor was off and it was runnier than usually. This was more or the runny liquid in a stew with some chunks in it vs a mushy paste. Will not be back!!!

Great food. I had the meat sampler and it was all good but the highlights were the Shito Wat (chickpeas in tomatoes.abd onion) and the Special Ribs (marinated beef). Both were very flavorful. The Injera (spongy flatbread) was also excellent. Main dish with tip was $28. The atmosphere is very casual. The bathroom is unisex and was very clean. There are 4 steps down to the entrance from the street. I did not see a ramp. The service was friendly, professional, attentive and fast. My water glass was never empty. I enjoyed it very much and will be back.Wheelchair accessibility: There are 4 steps down from the street level. I didn't see a ramp.
Food is good -- or would be, except the veggies are GROSSLY undercooked (have experienced this across two delivery orders now in the last month). Mostly "al dente" lentils and cabbage? No thank you. It's a shame, because this place could be good otherwise. But clearly they're rushing their line and not prepping properly.

We had a veggie sampler and a meat sampler and everything was delicious. The greens were tender with the right amount of bitterness, and the meat dishes were spicy and vibrant. For two folks in our group this was their first Ethiopian meal and they loved it.
