Food and drinks were delicious however service was disappointing. Slow to take our order and the waitress was a little cold and unfriendly - she also decided to count our payment standing at the front of the dining area which was quite unprofessional and unnecessary.

Everything from the food, service, and atmosphere was amazing. The server even went as far as cutting our cake from underneath so it didn’t look like it was cut and we could still take pics with it. Didn’t ask him to do that and was amazed by it! Thank you for the amazing service!!!

Beautiful ambience , super cool entrance. Has to wait a bit for our reservation but it was packed on a Saturday night. Food was delicious, service superb. It was my daughter's birthday and they gave her both a signed card and a cupcake with a candle. Definitely worth the (hefty) price tag. Even the filet which was delicious

I attended a birthday brunch for a friend today. The party of 18 arrived on time(1pm) and we had the back room reserved. Eventually when the food came out; it was only for half of the table and the other half waited 15 minutes. After which I spoke to the manager and it turns out the order wasn't put in. 15 more minutes passed and the order never came out. Instead she brought more appetizers that we did not want or ask for after half the table was already full from their meal. The manager or waiter never apologized or acknowledged the mistake to the birthday group or birthday individual. For a restaurant to have been around this long; this is ridiculous. We barely had water service at all until we requested it several times; we had to wait extended lengths for drink orders that were also wrong. For a Sunday afternoon the restaurant was empty and I now know why- the service is ABYSMAL. I would comment on the food but it's now 3pm as I write this and we sat down at 1:15pm and I still have not received my meal. The staff here appears to be a severe deficit in professionalism, skill, organization and general awareness. Good luck dining here; you may be better off brunching at the bodega down the street with a bacon egg and cheese and corona.

Beauty and Essex is an experience starting off with walking through a pawn shop which actually has some interesting items for sale before entering into the dim lit restaurant. There is seating both on the main level and upstairs; as well as a bar on each level. They recommend ordering all plates to share so that's what we opted for (group of 5). I had the pawn shop special cocktail which was a mix of mezcal, passion fruit and pink peppercorn- it was very sour but I really enjoyed the taste. We started off with the spicy tuna wonton tacos (5/5), spicy salmon tartare (3/5), roasted bone marrow (5/5), and grilled cheese tomato soup dumplings (5/5). I did realize after we already left the restaurant that we ordered and never recieved the little French dips- I'm not sure if we were charged for it or not and unfortunately don't have a copy of our bill to check. The toasted bone marrow was a favorite amongst our table; it came with an onion jam which perfectly balanced the dish. The soup dumplings were also unique and flavorful. The spicy salmon tartare which was their take on crispy rice fell short with the rice component having a strange chewy consistency. For the larger plates, we ordered the lobster carbonara (3/5) - it was flavorful but very basic and extremely difficult to share! Next, we had the skirt steak which was (5/5) out of this world!! It came with two sauces that none of us used because of the way the meat was cooked perfectly. We ordered the steak medium and the chef delivered! Flavor, season, and texture were divine. We closed out the meal with the dessert wheel (4/5)- a cool visually appealing dessert with a variety of small shareables. I wouldn't say anything in the dish stood out but it was a nice way to have something sweet to end the meal. I think the meal and experience was a true 4.5. We did wait some time to get seated even though we had a reservation and then realized that we didn't get one of the dishes we ordered after leaving so the service is what I removed one star for. Overall a fantastic meal with great ambiance.

I discovered this restaurant in LA on a trip with my daughter. It instantly became her absolute favorite restaurant...and she is not easily impressed at all. I love it has well and have now visited the NY and Vegas locations too. All three are incredible.

I visited this hidden gem of a restaurant for the fourth time and once again, it didn't disappoint. Even though I was late for my reservation, the staff were accommodating and held my table, which I appreciated. The speakeasy vibe is cool and makes for a unique dining experience. The menu, including a red velvet waffle and short ribs Rancheros, was tasty and perfect for sharing. It's definitely a spot worth coming back to, especially during restaurant week for a good deal.

I think this place had its heyday many many years ago. Now, it feels like a Best Western in the 'burbs with super inflated tourist prices. It's a nice space, maybe they will revamp the concept. The food was easily forgotten.

How coool is this place! Firstly, I love a good speak easy vibe.. this was a whole another level. You walk into a tiny guitar / jewelry store that has a secret entrance to an elegant restaurant!! It's got a super nice date night vibe. If you want to impress.. definitely bring your significant other here. Our server was very nice & service was overall very smooth. The food was good, there's a good variety of flavors. We tried quite of a few of their vegetarian offerings and each one was different than the other. One small area of improvement .. having more vegetarian main courses would enhance the appeal further for people like me. But overall, the place was a good hit! Definitely check them out.

Beauty and Essex is one of my favorite bars in New York City. It's a great place to get drinks and lounge with friends. This was my first time getting dinner, and now I can say I would return for a meal as well! I really enjoyed our appetizers, and highly recommend the roasted bone marrow. I also loved my salmon dish. I know salmon is common in many restaurants, but it's hard to find a well cooked salmon that's not dried out, and in my opinion, theirs was cooked beautifully. I'm excited to come back and try more dishes!
