We had set a reservation at 8pm, on a Sunday. I was looking for a spot where we could enjoy a ribeye steak, and we stumbled across this and i was sold. We walk through the doors and the manager/ host was sitting, on their phone; no idea that we had walked in. Didn’t take long for us to get sat as soon as he noticed; because the restaurant was practically empty with only 1 other table dining. We ordered with our waiter: Grilled Octopus and Mexican guacamole to start, followed by the Angus Ribeye Steak and the Stuffed Chicken Breast. Our waiter walked away and came back to let us know that they didn’t have the ribeye in stock. We ended up substituting it for a filet mignon, which wasn’t even on the menu. My wife and I were enjoying our drinks when our waiter came by again with more upsetting news that the Mexican Guacamole wasn’t available and if we wanted to substitute it for anything else, to which the manager overheard and intervened. He offered to make it happen, to which he walked accross the street to the supermarket and returned with a small bag. At this point, there was obviously no communication between the servers, the kitchen, and the manager. The restaurant was clearly not busy, yet they seemed clueless to what the kitchen had prepared for the day. How does the front house not know what major proteins are available for the guests? it’s not like they sold 5 ribeyes prior to us being seated; it was empty! now the food, it almost made up for the terrible service. The Mexican Guac. was really fresh (considering they made it on the spot). The Octopus was good, but the outside texture could use some rigidess; maybe a quick sear. My wife had odered the Stuffed Chicken Breast, and she had 2 bites and did not touch it after that. Now the filet mignon, it was cooked perfectly and was delicious; hits and misses. At the end of our dinner, right before walking out the door, the manager stops us. He kindly asks us about our dining experience and if we could leave a review. Of course, I said how good the steak and guacamole was. That was all that I had to say. After that conversation, it was clear that this place is bypassing off of new guests who come here based off the highly rated reviews. You’re better off coming here on a Friday or Saturday, to guarantee fresh food rotation and a better service than we experienced. Although the effort to make up for unavailable dishes was there, the whole experience was a mess from the jump. We will not be returning to this “restaurant”.

Creative and delicious pan-Latin cuisine. The special, a whole branzino, was enormous and very good, as were the small plates. Unusual and festive presentations (crisp strips of plantain accompanied the guacamole, served in a molcajete) never detracted from the main point, which was the flavor. Atmosphere felt modern and trendy without ever being pretentious, due in no small part to the excellent service. I am only sorry we were just a party of 3 and did not have a chance to sample more items.

On a busy Sunday night we showed up and neglected to make a reservation. We were greeted and advised they could accommodate our party of 4. Not only was it appreciated, the salmon appetizer, our Argentinian steak and the entire experience was fantastic. From staff to meal and deserts, a must try. Thank you for making our last night in NYC special. We hope to see you soon.

This was an absolutely delicious and delightful restaurant. From the kindness of excellent Esteban to the perfectly prepared appetizer, salad, entree and side of sweet plantains, I can't say enough good things about my dining experience at Buena Vista. I came in a rainstorm with wet feet and left with a warmed heart and fantastic memories. What more could you ask for? I can't wait to go back and I will!

Recently dined at Buenavista located in New York and had a fantastic experience. The ambiance was cozy and inviting, with dim lighting and soft music playing in the background. The service was excellent - our server was attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. Truly created such a memorable experience for our table. For appetizers, we tried the Shrimp Sautéed in Roasted Garlic and White Wine which had a surprising wonderful kick. We also enjoyed Seared Baby Calamari which had to order another one because it was phenomenal. For our main courses, Angus Rib Eye Steak which blew me away the whole dish is marvelously thought out. I ordered as a well a side of malanga purée which was perfectly seasoned what a wonderful addition. For dessert, we shared the tres leches and churros, which was the best way to end our meal.Overall, I highly recommend you check out Buenavista restaurant for the most amazing latin fusion cuisine. The food, service, and atmosphere all exceeded my expectations. I will definitely be returning in the future. Even if it means catching a train!

We ordered the chicken dish with passion fruit sauce and it was the least satisfying, super tiny, it seemed like an appetizer, and the price was even worse: $34 dollars for 3 small pieces of chicken. In summary:Bad.Expensive.And very little.
