I was there with some guests from abroad and they loved everything that came to the table. The pork chop and salmon we ordered were cooked perfectly to the requested temperature. We also ordered the octopus, which was really good.

Overall excellent BUT we were a party of 5 and seated in the rear (an area also used for private parties). The noise level was extremely loud- basically caused by a party of 6 right next to us. We were unable to hear conversations at our own table unless the person right next to us or directly across was speaking to you. We were there for Easter brunch so restaurant was crowded. There should be some noise attenuation in place due to hard ceiling and hard floors—noise just bounces. Food good but not quite up to par; however, I attribute that to the holiday and a full restaurant—as every other time I have dined here it has been close to perfect. The servers, host/hostesses, and the bussing staff were WONDERFUL! All polite, friendly and engaging. Highly recommended Cafe d'Alsace

We enjoyed a leisurely lunch without service pushing. They were so gracious about how much time we occupied our table. Additionally, the food was excellent. Bistro fare! Perfect meal. I will be bringing friends and associates for a delightful meal and experience. Seems very dependable!

Group of six of us sat in the back room. Service was a little spotty, perhaps given the location of our table. Food, as always, was amazing. Everyone enjoyed their meal — steak frites, sea bass, truffle pasta special, chicken. The vibe in the back room isn't as great in the back room compared to main dining room.

This is a biased review because we have so enjoyed Cafe d'Alsace since its conception almost 2 decades ago. This visit was as brilliant as they come. Our server, Gino, was efficient, warm and engaging. The cuisine was as excellent as it has been. 2 specials were fantastic, the salmon tartare and the sautéed skate. An old entree has happily returned to the menu, the traditional Baeckeoffe. It was just as great as memory had served. Elegant dessert and the Riesling wine capped off a wonderful birthday celebration. Of course we'll be back.

I went to Cafe d’Alsace for brunch in the weekend and got a chicken club. The chicken was cut too thin that the chicken was dry. Overall, the atmosphere was a nice brunch spot but it was much louder than expected and the food quality was a bit disappointing. They were nice about not including the cheese though (im dairy-free). If you want a basic breakfast food then I would say it meets those expectations — but I wouldn’t personal recommend.

The French onion soup was very nice. Some items weren't available because they were transitioning to their spring menu. It would have been good to tell us up-front. They were sure to tell us we couldn't use the happy hour menu if we sat at a table, twice. We decided to sit at a table because we wanted to have a meal. Our waiter was nice, but not well informed. He annoyed my friend because he missed the mark on a few things. I found it humerous and shaked it off to behaviors of his young generation. When ordering, we were then told certain items weren't available because of the menu transition. You can tell the chef and some staff cared cause they would gather up front at the hostess station and would talk, while looking at our table. We sat at a table for two by the window. Maybe its a preferred table to some regulars of theirs. But the restaurant was not even at half capacity at this time. We were asked towards the end a lot whether they can take our plates when we were still not finished. You feel rushed, and you still want to finish your food. That happens sometimes in other places a lot but happened here 2 or 3 times. The puffed cheese rolls were nice. And the French onion soup was really good. ?

Great place for brunch. I sat at the bar on a rainy day and had a fantastic steak salad with a glass of wine and finished it off with a cappuccino. It was one of the best salads I’ve ever had in my entire life. I will definitely be back!

We had dinner there last night for the first time. We were seated right away since we had a reservation. The food was delicious. They have a rum toddy cocktail which was delicious. My wife’s champagne rose was not too sweet. The onion soup was fine. The grilled octopus was tender and. very savory.. The baeckeoff was amazing, a must! The sea bass was well seasoned and delicious. Our server, Luis was very attentive even though it was busy. We ate based on his recommendations and he was right. We will return there again!

Solid neighborhood bistro with always good food and a nice staff. Recommended for a reliably good, if not exceptional, meal each time.

It is rare to find a cafe/restaurant that serves good food at a reasonable price anywhere in NYC right now- but especially on the UES! We all enjoyed our meals - had a lovely time catching up (did not feel rushed!), and truly appreciated an atmosphere that is both French and fully New York. Will definitely visit many times again when heading to The Met or other nearby places!
