It was really too crowded to walk across the Brooklyn Bridge so we came back down and cut through the park that is right at the start of the Brooklyn Bridge walkway and came out on Chambers. Lo and behold a Chinese take out! Just what we needed. Very basic no seats walk-in and order at the window. Service was quick and the food was fine. Serviceable takeout Chinese food. This is not sit-down Chinese like you would get in Chinatown, where you sit with 8-10 people, order 3-5 dishes (at least in some cases), and pay $100 in cash for all of it. At China Red, this is order in person or at over the phone, grab your order, and leave. No frills about it. Do not expect the food to be the same as well, so temper your expectations accordingly. Cheap, hole in the wall Chinese takeout food. The food was a bit greasy but it is filling and decent, edible quality. Besides, it is hard to find such cheap Chinese food in this neighborhood. Their most popular offering are the $12.99 combination platters which come with rice, an egg roll, and soup or soda.
