Ok this place is FIRE! Very humble decor and tight seating. We had the shumai, pan fried dumplings, sauteed green beans, and the har gao. Everything was fresh and delicious. We didn't even get the clay pot but several people around us did and it looked incredible. Minus 1 star for the horrible bathroom situation -- dead bugs around and in a rough basement. But the food and service were outstanding. I will brave the bathroom and return for the clay pot next time.

Good authentic clay pot dish. I would definitely recommend this place.

Haven't had clay pots for a while. I remembered that the last time when I had it was in Hong Kong. This place in the village was not bad. I would say except it was pretty pricy, everything else was good. A good choice for a meal during a cold winter day.

Not bad, but personally left a lot to be desired. Disclaimer I only tried the shu mai and Lo Mein not the clay pot which I assume is better. Shu Mai filling was inconsistent and the noodles lacked depth of flavor, a bit more on the vinegar side, and lacking that classically Smokey/oil cooked kind of taste. Not bad, but I probably won't be back for these items.

Have been meaning to try this clay pot rice via Facebook videos. Small shop with about 8-10 tables. Clay pot was small portioned but good nonetheless. You get to choose however many toppings you want to add. It takes about 20 mins for your order to be done. They provide a house made soy sauce, ginger sauce, and dark? soy sauce. Service was courteous.

Good service but not come if you’ve have had authentic clay pot dishes, particularly the Cantonese rice ones, you’ll be completely disappointed. There’s no crispy rice layer, just all stuck to the pot, no wonder why they spend lots of efforts cleaning the pots. Particularly do not order the chicken topping, it’s slices of pan seared chicken breast with teriyaki drizzles, who does that at a clay pot place. Following is offensive, but there’s no better way to put it. This is the orange chicken place for clay pot dishes.

We spent our final night of this vacation in West Village and came across this place. The staff was friendly, the place looked clean and stylish and something warm was on our minds as the temperature had dropped. The selection of dishes - clay pot, pho, etc was good and the ability to customize what you wanted was even better. The meal was delicious and the menu included instructions on how to enhance / sauce up your clay pot.

Great consistent meal in the village, for me Clay Pot is a good comfort food. The ingredients are always fresh and there typically is no wait, and fast service. When ever I am in the area and want a good quick meal this is my go to spot.

Clay Pot Ratings: 4.2/5 Food: 4.25/5 - We got the Supreme Clay Pot to try out all the proteins and toppings. The eel, Chinese sausage, and pork belly were my favorites, fresh and flavorful. The other proteins, chicken, beef and salmon weren't that impressive, but still good. The Clay Pot came out sizzling and the crispy rice was amazing. The rice is like no others, because each grain was cooked perfectly, literally spectacular. Yes, I love my RICE. Also, the highlight of the night was the sauces, and please do mix up everything before you start eating. There's sweet soy sauce with pepper, siracha, and ginger, and I recommend adding all of them, especially the ginger, and these sauces will definitely help you scrape off the crispy rice on the bottom. The downside was I wish there were more rice, and if you do not eat fast enough, there will be a good amount of rice sticking to the pot. The crispy rice will also stick to your teeth as well, which sucks. Ambiance: 4.25/5 - Cute little Asian restaurant located in the West Village. There's another one in the East Village, right near St. Marks. There are plenty of tables and seats available for indoor dining at this location, compared to the other one. I love the open kitchen and all the artwork painted on the wall. Super causal and whole-in-the-wall vibe, reminds me of my summers in China. Great spot for a quick eats in the area with friends. Price: 4/5 - The Rock Shrimp is $8 and the Supreme Clay Pot is $21, the total came up to be around $35 after tax and tips. I think they increased the prices again, probably due to COVID. The portion size is just right, definitely will fill you up, but you will not be stuffed. It is just the right amount for me, and I also shared the appetizer while we wait for the food. Service: 4.25/5 - The service was great. Our server was nice and attentive. He explained the menu and provided some great recommendations. When the food was ready, he brought out the sauces, placed it nicely on the table and started explaining to us all the different sauces and the ones we should add to the Clay Pot. He also checked-in with us periodically to make sure we are all set and satisfied. Great experience. BLUF: Solid place for some sizzling Clay Pot in NYC. It is definitely one of my favorite quick eats in the West Village. Food is delicious and nostalgic, able to create your own bowl by selecting your own toppings, and friendly staffs. Hands down this place is worth a try. Recommend the Supreme, so you can try all the toppings!

Perfect customizable piping hot sizzling rice bowls with a variety of proteins and veggies. You could even go supreme for all the toppings. This is a rare gem as clay pot rice spots have been few around the city

Excellent clay pot rice. If your looking for sizzling traditional southern Chinese cuisine, this is the place for clay pot rice! There have been fewer and fewer clay pot rice restaurants but this one has proven it is able to do a good job! You can customize your individual pot or you can even get the supreme for all the proteins and veggies!

The BEST GeNeRaLs chicken in NYC. The portion is perfect. The presentation beautiful and the chicken is so tender, juicy with white meat and seasoned perfectly with a delicious sauce with a little kick. . This dish is not heavy either...it is on the lighter side. The broccoli is so fresh as well. No place is NyC makes General's chicken as good as Clay Pot. They are so nice too. Under $10. Perfect meal for a single person. Eat here! Proof of vaccination is needed.

Solid clay pot but a bit pricey for the portions. It's cool how they give you the clay pot to take home if you order takeout. You just have to pay $3 for it BUT they refund the $3 if you bring it back to the store later.
