It's Vietnamese with a Thai twist in my opinion. The mango salad came with the king fish steak was very refreshing. If you're looking for authentic viet, this's not the place. I believe they used instant soup base for their pho. I could understand cuz they're not pho focused. Will I come back, probably not.

If you want Thai food you go to a Thai restaurant, and if you want Vietnamese you go to a Vietnamese place. Cloud Vietnamese's menu has flavors that were tailored to suit Thai preferences. This is not the place to eat authentic Vietnamese but they did have a tangy fish dipping sauce, bursting of umami. Banh Xeo, a savory turmeric fried pancake made of rice flour and water (aka Vietnamese crepe), was heavy, not crispy, and super bloated with shallots at Cloud Vietnamese Restaurant. The unappealing Corn Salad -definitely a Thai dish - was simply not the best, made with canned corn, and the overpowering taste of it was soapy. The Shrimp Spring Rolls Rice Vermicelli Bowl (Bun) had some very good vermicelli noodles but was missing equally good Spring Rolls- their undelightful rendition of Vietnamese Fried Spring Rolls filled with shrimp tails, not Vietnamese style, and I did find it weird tasting and confused, unfamiliar looking.

This place is so cute and soooo delicious! I am obsessed with the tofu pho xao + summer roll lunch special - so affordable and a great portion size! I've eaten here three times so far & definitely will continue to come!!

So pleasantly surprised. Walked into Cloud because I was visiting my niece who was living on that block and the evening was too cold to walk far. We walked in to a warm, welcoming, lovely setting and were met immediately by an equally welcoming wait staff. The next pleasant surprise was the quality of taste of the food. We ordered the shrimp rolls, the mango salad and the seafood noodle soup. Both the mango salad and the seafood soup were outstanding. Will definitely try to make my way to that part of town to enjoy this gem of a restaurant.

Ordered the Cha Glo (fried pork & shrimp spring rolls), pork chops and fried rice. We really liked everything, the meat & veggies were fresh. The pork chops were my favorite! The fried rice could have had a bit more salt but overall very good!

Have had the seafood soup numerous times now, but confess that I'm conflicted about how to review the (beef) pho. On the upside, the sliced beef was remarkably tender and the tiny meat ball easily the tastiest, beefiest, I have had. As far as the downsides: the first thing that struck me about the broth was the strong funky scent of fish sauce, a flavor I personally don't like. Fresh basil leaf neutralized this but didn't quite eliminate the first impression. Also, the moist slices of beef brisket, which comprised the majority of the meat, had quite a bit of fat on their edge. Managed to avoid most of it, but took some work. So, for me the beef pho at 5ive Spice Soho still rules.

Wir kommen bestimmt nochmal her, absolut empfehlenswert.

A welcome addition to the Lower East Side, Cloud makes some pretty good Vietnamese food. I've been to Cloud a handful of times and for the most part, really enjoyed the food. The beef pho, while probably not the most authentic rendition (though I'm admittedly not an expert so I could be wrong), is fragrant and comforting. I also really like the pork chop and stir fried noodles. I wouldn't say it's anything mind blowing but I find myself coming back often. Service is very friendly and prices are reasonable. New York City isn't particularly known to have a bunch of good Vietnamese options so it's nice having this one in the neighborhood.

Mightily impressed by the distinctive flavors of the Banh Canh Cua seafood rice noodle soup, with tender tasty shrimp, calamari as well as a soft shell crab. Love the springy thick round rice noodle. If you're not into spiciness ask them to hold the chili oil. Second time went for the Banh Canh pork noodle soup. A little lighter on the protein (pork roll and some pork tips), pleasant, but not as distinctive, flavor. The decor tries, but doesn't quite succeed, and I could have done without the soft rock knockoffs of the greatest hits, but the vibe is pleasant and the server is friendly and helpful. Definitely in the running for being one of my favorite Vietnamese restaurants. Next time: the beef pho; Will it be the equal of the 5ive Spice version?
