The wait was 2 hours for the speak easy place. So we tried the food up front. I got the chili dog and my partner got the Philly tube. His was okay mine was better with some extra toppings you can get customized. Def good :) but I think this place is more about the experience

We went to the secret place. Please don't tell!An amazing hidden gem. I was given a lovely birthday card and a birthday cocktail. Our waitress was lovely and the cocktails were amazing!!!

I don't know what to say, it was all great. Amazing bar and experience overall ! The cocktails were delicious and the atmosphere amazing also. Certainly worth a visit if you plan to be in New York. Good luck finding your way in ;)
Great spot for hot dogs! My only complaint about this spot is that the music is TOO LOUD!! You can't have a conversation. The hot dogs are deep fried and taste great. They have a pork/beef blen (Frankfurter) and a NYer that's all beef. Try out the Chili dog. That was my favorite!!

I am not sure how am I just now writing a review for Crif Dogs as we've been coming here since 2002, but it clearly says something that this has been my go-to place for the best veggie dog in the city for nearly twenty years!!! Yes, 18 years ago this was more of a late night spot after being out late, but it has now become a place where we still enjoy stopping in for some veggie dogs and perfectly made tots. It's a small space, and "back-in-the-day" the speakeasy was actually a speakeasy that not many people knew about and we had a blast learning about it and going. It's now become popular and more people come for that than the food at times, but it's still a wonderful cozy spot with great service! Our most recent visit was just as great as our first. The service has always been exceptional here - they are kind, welcoming and always get the order right. It may take a little longer for your food to come out, but it's worth the wait. Don't come here expecting "fast food". It's quality food made fresh and with love. We are vegetarian so our base will always be the veggie dog, but we love changing up our toppings. Since we're originally from Chicago, we like to make it Chicago-style once in a while, thankfully we don't get any flack for that :). The tots make the perfect pairing! I love the East Village tots most, mainly because they are spicy, but the Truffle Shuffle is quite good too. Honestly, I am not sure when the menu changed to just tots, I am pretty sure it used to be waffle fries...anyhow, I digress. Be sure to stop in whether you're just passing through NYC or live here and haven't been yet!

I was visiting the area and wanted to try this place. I came during lunch on a weekday and it was pretty empty. I got the chili dog and East Village tater tots which is just tots with cheese and jalapenos. The chili was okay, I prefer a chunkier chili. The chili also soaked the bun, so it fell apart and got pretty messy. It would've helped if the bun was toasted more. The tots were nothing special, to be honest, there wasn't enough cheese on the tots either. I would be open to trying the other hot dogs, but I wouldn't willingly come here again.
