Food was excellent. The service was prompt and friendly. Prices were very affordable for the neighborhood. Very nice dining experience

I don't write reviews often, but this was the second time in a row where the manager is an ass on Friday's. Don't get me wrong, I love the food, service on any day but a Friday is fantastic. After this second time, where the business does not accept reservations, I'm told it's reservation only. I've spent thousands at this restaurant and I'm treated like I don't matter. Sorry won't be back. Service on a Wednesday 5 stars, service on a Friday, 1

Came here after an afternoon at Central Park. I was craving some sort of warm beef soup, and got the sukiyaki udon. It was SO good - the udon noodles were chewy and plentiful, the beef was tender, and there were additional toppings like an egg, shaved ginger and enoki mushrooms. Out of everything, the ginger probably could have been left out or replaced with a milder vegetable as I felt the ginger flavor clashed with the rest of the soup. Nonetheless it was so good and I ate/drank every last drop! My partner got the Yakiniku don and we both agreed that the sukiyaki udon was better. The inside is cozy and service is friendly!

Great little restaurant next to my apartment! The meals are very filling. We got the sauce katsu don, sukiyaki don, and shake salmon don. def recommend those! service was very fast and ambiance was nice too

I stopped by for a weekday dinner; I heard it can be quite popular/busy on weekends but fortunately there were plenty of tables for the two of us when we got there around 6pm on a Wednesday. It feels a lot like a traditional izakaya, both in ambience and in decor (small tables, a bar, generally on the more raucous side). We ordered a chicken karaage to start. Not really a fan, the breading was a big soggy and parts of the chicken were kind of hard to chew. Also a lot of the meat was rather bland (big chunks didn't have much flavour on the inside). I had the katsu curry. The katsu cutlet was really quite tasty - fried to a nice balance (crispy without being too oily or soggy) while keeping the inside tender and juicy. The curry itself I felt was OK, but nothing particularly special to note. My friend ordered the yakuniku don, which was very good. Beef slices were very savoury / flavourful and well-cooked. Overall not too salty, and the sauce and rice paired together rather nicely. It did come out to be a bit pricier than expected. Also, I read some reviews that they don't take tips but... nothing said so? and the receipt had the usual indicated tip amounts. So of course I erred on the side of caution and tipped per usual - but maybe someone else can confirm if they actually stopped not taking tips :( Anywho, a pretty good experience overall but nothing amazing - I'd come back again but I don't think I'd be jumping at the chance to do so.

WOW. Amazing authentic food like I used to have it in Japan! Amazing portions, does NOT taste Americanized at all, completely authentic with great ingredients. DEFINITELY coming back often, they have nice seats for those eating

Flavorful sauces compliment well prepared noodles and vegetables. Highlights: - spicy noodle with pork broth - sweet and sour pork Perfect place to grab a bite after a late flight. Server was great - meaning it was late a night and we just want our food and have questions answered. Long hallway design - so sit at your table and just chill.

I don't get katsu often but this place was good! It was super packed on a weekday at 9pm but solid food and big portions; get their chu-hai too. Probably would not order their croquette next time though

Finally found a Japanese restaurant where the don plates are not overly sweet or salty. I like the sukiyaki don and the shake ikura don. And my stomach always feels good after I eat here, meaning the food and ingredients are clean and prepared properly.

Sake selection is a personal preference. 50 dollars including tip and 2 items without alcohol is reasonable in NY. The taste of the eel was too strong. . .
