This restaurant has a great atmosphere and is popular with locals. Lamb chops are so delicious!

Just an awful experience as voiced by other patrons. We stopped by only because this was open late. Their ratings speak volume about servers inattentiveness, below average food quality and taste and highway robbery menu prices. Warning to future patrons of this establishment: just get drinks but stay far away from food. Mediocre at best, smh

Been here many times for downtown’s sceney parties or events, albeit only getting Sapporo drafts. The food however, is quite delicious at reasonable prices.I would recommend getting the addictive cabbage & uni fries as a starter. Super delicious. As for mains, I’ve had a few. The spicy yakisoba is quite delicious and the scallop risotto too. The salmon Chan-Chan is alright. The sashimi trio was fantastic, and at a good price for sashimi at $58. 7 pieces of each scallop, salmon, and yellowtail coming in at under $3 per. Not too bad if you ask me.If you’re going for date night I would recommend coming between like 6-8. Anything after that will become loud, especially on the weekends.

Came here tonight for a friends birthday and lovedddd this place so much! The staff was super friendly, very knowledgeable of the menu, and took their time to answer our questions. The vibe and layout of the restaurant also made it very easy to chat amongst a larger group, which is hard when coming to a place for a birthday party sometimes! I really appreciated that! We ordered a few orders of the uni fries which were delicious and then I ordered the lamb yakisoba but subbed for udon noodles. Decently tasty dish but I wish the portion was just a bit bigger! I honestly left still feeling kinda hungry. For drinks I grabbed the Sakura Sour which I thought was perfect. Definitely recommend that one!

We went here for our weekly date night. I had been before but my boyfriend was enjoying for the first time.We ordered the pre fix menu and it was okay. A few of the dishes fell a little short for us but others were very delicious. But it was nice to get a bit of everything for my boyfriend. The staff was very kind and helpful throughout the entire experience.A note to anyone hoping for a late reservation…karaoke started around 10:30pm and caught the tail end of our meal. If you’re in the vibe for that it’s great. If you’re trying to have a more secluded meal it can be distracting.Overall, we really enjoyed the evening.

Ate outdoors and spent $250 on poor service, poor food, and an unpleasant environment. For some reason the area and tables smelled like human waste despite having fans blowing air to keep customers cool. The food portions were extremely small and didn’t taste good. New York City has plenty of good food so save yourself and avoid this one.

That waitress with the full bangs and blonde hair was the rudest server I’ve ever had the displeasure of meeting. She took our plates without checking, she’d slam the plates down, she’d spill food while serving, she’d never explain what she was serving, she’d ignore us— like absolute worst. The food was also subpar for the price. Nothing special about “hokkaido” cuisine either. Do not eat here. Absolutely terrible. To that waitress that served us— We know you hate your job but you shouldn’t take it out on your customers.

It was so dark that I couldn't see the food at all and couldn't take pictures. And the drink didn't come and it was so strong that I couldn't finish it.Genghis Khan is a little smelly, so I recommend Zangi (deep-fried chicken). .I was a little disappointed as I had high expectations.

Absolutely loved it! Although the scallop risotto portion I got was super small, even though I got the larger size ($20). So I'd recommend getting the smaller portion ($11) and then getting something else. Still the scallop risotto was great, as well as

It was a beautiful night. We were a family of five and it was Lunar New Year's Eve. All Chinese restaurants were booked, so we decided on Dr. Clark. What a great choice! Loved the freshness of the Salmon Sashimi and the Seared yellowtail carpaccio with Hokkaido style jalapeño sauce. The Uni Risotto was delicious. The Spicy Jingisukan Lamb and Mushroom grilled at the tabletop was an eye-opening experience. Thank you for a wonderful night. We will be back.

Hokkaido Cuisine on the Spotlight @drclarkhouse Found in the most unusual place one would find an authentic Japanese restaurant, the corner of Baxter and Bayard Streets in Chinatown, is this spot named after an American scholar who was hired by the Japanese government to establish an agricultural college in Hokkaido. Dr. Clark may have been instrumental in bringing lamb to the island. In this restaurant, the lamb BBQ is a surprise favorite and perfect treat for the suddenly freezing New York. Post dinner treat is fittingly nostalgic, it's a revival of karaoke in a former singalong bar. Then bar serves cocktails that are made to Japanese perfection with prices that are pleasantly stuck in the year 2000s. Also, it's the only dining trip where I willingly finished two kinds of noodles because they were so delicious. Representing the West is the generous heaping of uni spaghetti ( And if you have ever eaten your way to Japan, you will know that the Japanese are fond of their Italian restaurants, and if you have been to Italy, you will see many young Japanese chefs in working and learning in celebrated Italian kitchens.) and representing the East is the smoky lamb bbq and curry-ish udon. They are both umami bombs I can't stop eating. Oishi, @drclarkhouse ! #curious_eater #hokkaidofood #hokkaidoisnotjapan

Regrettably, our recent dining experience fell short of expectations. Although the ambiance earned three stars for its pleasant atmosphere, the overall evening left much to be desired. The staff, unfortunately, appeared to lack the necessary finesse, with an instance of servers engaging in distracting behavior nearby. Our decision to indulge in the chef's prix fixe experience did not yield the anticipated culinary delight, as the fried chicken arrived cold and seemingly reheated.Despite having made a reservation through Resy and highlighting the occasion as a birthday celebration, the process seemed superfluous, as the restaurant accommodated walk-ins without distinction. In the spirit of constructive feedback, we hope the establishment addresses these aspects to enhance the overall dining experience for future patrons.

Amazing place in Chinatown. Very cool atmosphere and interior that transports you to Hokkaido, Japan. Food is incredible, one of the best meals we had in the city and very reasonably priced. Everyone there is a local, mostly people in their 20s. Highly recommend for an authentic NY dining experience away from the tourist mainstays!

Food was quite good, but the experience was somewhat muddled by the atmosphere, which was loud with small tables, and disaffected service. Intense incense also took a bit to get used to. Polarizing experience as again, food quite good. The lamb was tender, sashimi was excellent. Tableside cooking experience was awkward and unnecessary.
