Sometimes you finish dinner with a friend, but you don't want to go home. You don't want drinks, but you need a place to burn some time. This is the place my friend and I chose when in UES. Food: 3.5/5 The food here is not bad, just okay. The vegetable farro soup, beet salas, and spiced gauc were okay. They had a nice combo if you order 3 items so, we did. The food are prepared promptly and we were content. The vibe is pretty chill. Service: 5/5 Shout out to the servicer here because I appreciate when they are honest. We came close to closing and they made sure to make sure we knew. The kitchen closes before the doors do so, don't be that person. She was so kind to my friend and I, rushing us, as she should because we decided to stop by. Thank you a bunch! All in all, I am not coming here for a culinary experience. But, I do want to munch on some food while talking to a friend. The service here is super great and if I am around why not visit again?

This is a terrific locals place that you probably will not see any tourists at. Family who lives in NYC goes here 3 times a week on a regular basis. First, coffee was so good. Just put the whole pot down and give me a straw! There was 4 of us for breakfast so we did not get any of the lunch items, but my family guaranteed that the lunch and dinner items are all just as good. I had the green shakshuka which was just wonderful. Another had the Mediterranean breakfast, a breakfast sandwich, Avocado toast and an omelet. Everyone loved their food. The service was warm and friendly, the decor was playful and fun. Be sure to read all the signs in the place, very amusing! Although it was slamming busy (weekend) the waitstaff was on top of it making sure that everyone had what they needed and keeping the place wiped down and clean. Good value and portion sizes, you won't be hungry. I can understand why it is a staple of my family who lives here. If I lived here, it would be on my regular rotation too. If you are a tourist in the city and find yourself out this way, Effy's is a great place to go to NOT feel like a tourist and just part of a very cool community. I hope you enjoy it like we did.

Eggscellent food. My pancakes were as good as the one's in Vermont. Tuna melt with avocado was delicious. Nice staff and the coffee was good too! A winner!

This is my go-to restaurant when I come to NYC to visit family as it is close to my hotel. The ambiance is quaint with outdoor seating. The service was quick and welcoming. The vegetarian shawarma platter with seitan, labneh, Israeli salad and much more is fantastic. The challah French toast with fresh strawberries, blueberries and bananas is wonderful and very filling. The portions are large and very reasonably priced. Note: this is a Kosher Israeli restaurant, so no meat will be served with dairy on the menu. Highly recommend.

Unbelievable. Me and my partner sat down to eat and dine in for some breakfast. After sitting and waiting for over thirty minutes for French toast and pancakes, we see people order after us and still get their orders before us. Okay we understand it can get busy sometimes. But for a group of 10+ to walk in and the waiter to ask us to move to accommodate people that just walked in when we were already sitting in a corner because the other two tables were filthy is hilarious. We were already trying to take less space to help blend in since we obviously stood out. We asked to sit in the corner to ease the waiters job because of the dirty tables that we were told to sit at by the waiter. Obviously we were fine when we asked the waiter if we could sit by the corner ... so why would you ask us if we were "comfortable" when the group of people asked the same waiter if we could move somewhere else to accommodate them knowing we asked to sit there to begin with? What a way to start the New Year. Do not Recommend. Waste of time.

They have a breakfast special before 10am which is very filling and delicious, you can get a pancake and eggs done the way you want it plus a coffee or a tea to make a wholesome and delicious and budget friendly breakfast and it’s my new go to place for a delicious breakfast. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly and not crowded and I enjoyed the decor and the the vibe of it where it makes me want to dine in next time to experience the service and see all other people coming in. I’d recommend this place for breakfast since I have not tried other things. The portion size was good and taste of pancakes was great.

Cute and relaxing spot to grab breakfast. Lovely service! She was taking care of the whole restaurant herself with seven tables!Had the chai latte which was delightful and the power wrap which was filling! Never tried beyond meat before.. interesting. I didn't even get to my second half. Home fries were good. Would definitely like to return and try more!
