Pretty good place for authentic Dominican food. Prices are reasonable, though the food can sometimes be hit or miss. As I’ve been ordering the oxtail sometimes it’s extremely tender other times. It’s hard. As always the Cubano sandwich is always a quick bite one of the best. As for trying their many other dishes, they were all good such as the Don Miguel, the salmon and beef stew.

The restaurant specializes in traditional Dominican cuisine, serving up delicious dishes that are both flavorful and affordable. One of the first things that stands out about El Castillo de Jagua is its warm and welcoming atmosphere. The restaurant has a cozy feel, making it a great spot for a casual meal with friends or family. The staff is friendly and attentive, always ready to make recommendations and ensure that diners have an enjoyable experience. The menu at El Castillo de Jagua is extensive, featuring a range of appetizers, entrees, and desserts. Some of the standout dishes include the mofongo (a traditional Dominican dish made with mashed plantains), the chicharron de pollo (crispy fried chicken), and the arroz con pollo (chicken and rice). Our favorite is the mangu. We drive over 70miles to come here to eat mangu. The portions are generous, making it a great spot for sharing dishes or taking leftovers home.Another great aspect of El Castillo de Jagua is its affordability. Prices are very reasonable for the quality and quantity of food served, making it a great option for those on a budget. The restaurant also offers a lunch special menu with even more affordable prices.Overall, El Castillo de Jagua is a great spot for anyone looking for delicious and authentic Dominican food in a welcoming and affordable setting. Whether you're a fan of traditional Dominican cuisine or just looking to try something new, this restaurant is definitely worth a visit.

I used to love coming here. Then for some reason didn't for at least 10 years. How happy I was to find that almost nothing had changed. Still delicious, friendly, homey. Good service, too.

Miguela was our server and we fell in love with her attitude and attention, now we have become regulars for breakfast and lunch! Highly recommend the rice with Gandules and pollo guisado! The coffee is great too!

This is a classic Dominican spot in the LES. I’ve been here on multiple occasions and the food is always on point. I got me the El Dominicano Sandwich and it was amazing. The bread was good. I like how they had the maduros in the sandwich. The queso frito added that salty cheesy taste. Pickled onions added that pickly taste and the sauce topped it off. Great sandwich. The pork was tough when I had it but I still enjoyed the sandwich and would definitely come back. @jefeeatsss

Excellent food. Best mofongo outside PR. Their Cubans were great too. Very much felt like I was in San Juan. Everything we saw come to every other table looked delicious.
