Amazing service, truly amazing. The staff continually filled our water, checked on us and were extremely kind. Highly recommend.

Service was really great, all of the different positions of staff were very attentive! Go for the guac and 7 salsas, will not disappoint. The criticisms, I had were surrounding the price points, and menu variety. The prices were absolutely too high for the portions! I understand a small, curated menu, but it was too eclectic for what it was!

UPDATE I spoke with Danielle at Empellon and she went above and beyond to assist with fixing the issue, which was not in any way her fault, but the fault of technology. I could not be happier with the service provided by Danielle. She made sure my boss and his group were well taken care of and had a wonderful time. Danielle is top-notch and was over the top accommodating. I would definitely recommend having a gathering at Empellon as the staff is amazing.

Had dinner there around the New Year of 2024. The food is not worth the price in my opinion. Small menu. We ordered the crab nacho, prawns, ground beef taco and carnitas. Too much food for 2 people but none of them were impressive. Maybe the best one was the prawn. As for the tacos, I feel any tacos in California would beat them. The decor was cute, but that’s the only memorable thing. Disappointed with this top rated “Mexican” restaurant in NYC. Is the bar for Mexican food this low in NYC? Saw Empellon leaving the top 100 restaurants in NYC by New York Times and I guess I’m not surprised.

Service and decor were impeccable, plating was gorgeous, food tasted good and was imaginative but portions were small for the price.

Very disappointed in this dinner. First the good part. The service was great. The skirt steak and the smoked black cod app were both excellent.  The avocado dessert is fun and tastes decent although we also didn't finish it. But the rest of the meal was not good at all. The crab and uni nachos lacked flavor big time. There was zero flavor of uni in the "queso" sauce and the crab was subpar. The steak tartar with queso was a very poor version of tartar, just a weird dish - the beef quickly cooked over the hot cheese and the cheese coagulated. The steamed halibut was probably the worst of the dishes. The fish was completely overcooked. It should never have been served - it even looked dry. The prawn fajitas were better but if you're going to serve shrimp with head on, it better be actually attached - I think they detach it, clean it, cook it, then reattach the heads, which is a weird move because the pleasure of eating shrimp with head on is to suck the tomalley out, which was missing herea. I didn't get the little taco dessert with the corn nuts, but it wasn't bad I guess. I just think almost all the experiments and interpretations of traditional dishes were misses.

Went there for a business dinner. I had been there for lunch so was excited to try them for dinner The menu was set so we started with the 7 sauces and chips. Nice start. The tuna tartare on a bed of something was ok. Fair start but out of place with the cuisine. The cabbage salad was refreshing and a good in between The tacos were hard shell beef of some sort and the soft ones fried fish. I tried neither so cannot comment. The beef was commented on as being ok with a lot of fat. The fish was also commented as ok. The entree was the skirt steak and the steamed halibut. The halibut was good but not very tasty other than the salt. Skirt steak was good and the rub in it worked to give it flavor. Dessert was the ice cream sandwich which I did not try. Overall it was noisy and service was good.

Went in without reservation and were pleasantly surprised. Service was great, food was tasteful and the dining room was pretty cool. No complaints here. We will be back!

Guac and salsas were great! Amazing drinks! Not a fan of the tacos we had. Fish tacos were just okay and the beef picadillo seemed like the chef went through great lengths to recreate the beef taco at Taco Bell (flavour and all). This place has a lot of promise so maybe it just was an off night.
