I love Fairway market. This is the oldest and original Fairway market established in 1933. A real New York veteran. She still stands and she’s still going strong. (So if you look at those old grimy photos of New York from the 1970s and 80s —Fairway is already on them). Citarella next door is also the oldest and original Citarella, established in 1912 –still standing and going strong as ever. The market is huge. It has two floors. It feels like a real supermarket. Fair prices. Great products. Proper New York. A real New York establishment.Terrific opening hours — stays open until midnight everyday. The bakery sections of supermarkets is something I pay close attention too and I’m, personally, fond of the one at Fairway. I grew up in France where when you want a quick snack you often eat bread. Plain bread. Not a pastry. A delicious warm fresh baguette à l’ancienne for €1.20 and you nibble on it on your walk back from school. It was fuxkin heavenly. I struggle to find that here in the US. Not that there are no bakeries here, there are bakeries, but they’re specialty bakers and their prices are asinine. (You don’t need to be a “specialty baker” in France to make excellent bread. They’re *all* specialty bakers and because of this most of them have modest prices. Same goes for our wine btw.) Fairway helps fill this gap for me because they sell a lot of different kinds of rolls which reminds me a lot of this French thing of eating bread as a snack. So I like to buy their rolls to eat immediately as a snack e.g. their “egg roll” as they call it -I would call it a brioche and jews would call it challah. Their onion roll (also a brioche) and their burger bun (also a brioche). I like their bialy and their pumpernickel bagel too. When I am in the mood for a pastry I get their cinnamon roll which to me is their best pastry (the consistency of the dough is right). I’ve tried all of their other pastries : they’re all yummy and excellent for the price but the cinnamon roll is the best (for me).Fairway Café on the second floor is finally back open again and we’re so glad. A classic old school-y UWS spot. Originally opened in 2001 but was shuttered for 3 years from 2020-2023 during the COVID lockdown. Just opened back up in September 2023.

Our family celebrated my special birthday in Fairway's kitchen.Working with Chef Ty, Manager Trevor and Helper Tim we had an amazing experience preparing and cooking a delicious dinner of Pizza, Raviolis and Cannolis. Ty, Trevor and Tim showed us how to prepare our own dough and get it all together for a super fun evening. The three men were so nice and personable and made our party outstanding. The Fairway 74th Street Cafe is a wonderful venue for a party.

It's OPEN again! Servers and food fantastic, great specials, prices reasonable, actually in some cases less than a diner!! Good cappuccino too. A hidden gem, so go "dig" it!!!

The decafe coffee tasted like it was instant & it was only slightly warm. I ordered pancakes & they were bad,.totally flat, tasted like other food. I'm sure the grill was not cleaned before making the pancakes, little black dots all over them. Sorry to do this to you but we won't be back. This was try #2.

Great place for a relaxing, quick snack or meal break while shopping at Fairway. Located on the second floor, you can look out the windows at Broadway.

This is Manhattan's finest restaurant. Reasonable prices, friendly service, and large windows with great views. There's even a skylight in the high ceiling! We will be coming back here again and again!Sunday brunch includes salmon and cream cheese bagels. Very delicious with fresh vegetables and herbs! The soup comes with two pieces of toast. It was very filling and had a lot of ingredients. Minestrone has a slightly spicy aftertaste, so it may not be suitable for young children. The matzah ball soup was very delicious with chicken soup! Matzah balls have a texture similar to a fluffier version of Japanese hanpen. They serve American breakfast even at 3pm! I highly recommend the buttermilk pancakes! ! The set includes eggs (scrambled or fried), potatoes, and buttermilk pancakes, and comes with two pieces of toast. Is rye bread made with fennel like Scandinavian bread? It worked and was delicious. With this taste and volume, the price is low, and it's totally amazing! Thank you for reopening! !Wheelchair accessibility: There is a supermarket on the first floor. There is an elevator in the back. The toilet is on the second floor. You will be able to reach it without any steps.

The food is quite good and reasonably priced. However, the management and the kitchen timing was grossly off and poorly handled by the service staff.

I came there to grab a bite before visiting show in Beacon theater. I have ordered bagel with snoked salmon and glass of wine. Wine came fast. And then I had to wait 35 min for the bagel. Only 3 tables were occupied in the cafe, and it was 3 waters around.I asked my waiter twice how much longer, and he was saying that it has been prepared. I cant imagin what is there to prepare except toast a bagel and put smoked salmon on it. I also notified waiter that I am going to a show.I decided not to tip a waiter because service was much below my expectations. After I paid, waiter came to me and asked if I didnt want to tip him. I responded 'No". He said that it is very rude of me. I thought always that it is my choice to tip or not to tip anybody and it should be based on my satisfaction. Instead of apology I got insulted by that waiter.
