A great experience! Everything about being there was exactly consistent with how the tavern looks. I highly recommend going. The food and beer were great!

Wonderful hidden place but the only time I came, everyone except Hannah the waitress seemed like they would rather be somewhere else. Slow service which is OK when a place is super busy, but once your actually served in the bar it seems like your a bother to them. I’m sorry I came to order drinks guys, will try not to do it next time.

For one of the most historic and wonderfully preserved restaurants in NY, their efforts to make me feel welcome were subpar. I expected more. But, no sooner had I entered, I was questioned more than once about whether I understood there was a 30$ minimum.( I was going to hear a friend perform in the piano room. )Then, when I was seated, I noticed at different intervals, there were a few people who came through the dining room stood for a moment to watch me then leave. Not one of them offered water, or spoke a greeting...Finally, my waitress came over. Her attitude and professionalilsm, in addition to the fact that they had the good sense to book some noteworthy live music, saved this place from getting 1 star from me.And, I was looking forward to a dessert, you know, to fill out my minimum, and when it arrived...maybe it's my Midwest sensibilitiea kicking in, but when I think of a chocolate-chip brownie, I expect to see some chocolate chips - as advertised. But, not this time. It was a pretty package as anyone can tell by the picture, but lacked heartNeedleas to say, I was disappointed. There were families there, couples, people who seemed to genuinely enjoy themselves. However, I was not among them. Visit for the atmosphere, sure, but there are far more places to get a taste of the historic and some good eats.

Can't stop talking about this place. The history and experience moving room through room is such a unique and memorable experience. I hope to visit again to enjoy the whiskey room.

Imagine sitting at a bar where George Washington might have with his officers; I wonder what they talked about? Nevertheless, this place is an icon sdom talked about history of this country I have called home. Good job in preserving the wood, upholstery, and food. Takes you back in time and let your imagination run free. The second floor has the. Museum. Quick note: Fraunces Tavern was West Indian!?

Very cool atmosphere. Great old pub with amazing history. Food was average, service below average. Glad we went here, but probably won’t be back.

We are history buffs, and so this tavern was a delight. To think we ate in the same rooms as George Washington himself! The food was delicious, and the atmosphere and service were awesome. There is also a museum upstairs that tells of the history of the tavern. I wasn't expecting much, but it was actually really well done - and much bigger than we expected! There are some really great artifacts up there.Kid-friendliness: They do have a kids menu and my picky eaters said I'm the food was really good.

I'll give it 2 stars for the museum on the top two levels...interesting enough for a visit. When we got done at about 3 PM, we thought we'd head to the restaurant/bar area to have a beer or a coffee before heading back out, and that's where things took a sour turn. The bar didn't have any spaces, but around the bar area were plenty of open tables. We were rudely told that unless we were going to order food, we could not sit at a little table next to the bar. The hostess at the front was a young woman who was obviously bored out of her mind with her job and couldn't have cared less. Go for the museum if you're interested in Washington's final address, but skip the tavern. Plenty of other genuine gems in the area that are welcoming and happy to have your patronage.

Place looks cool, nice for history buffs. I had the Fish and Chips, which were tasty but almost to the point of being too mushy. Had some good beers. Idk if it was busy, but we were here two days in a row and both times felt we could have been attended to better by the wait staff. If I came back it would probably be for drinks only. Had a cool little museum inside, was informative and had a cheap admission.

I stumbled upon this gem and I'm so glad I did. You can tell it's been around since the 1700s, and it was a very, very nice atmosphere. I had the hot apple cider with brandy and chicken pot pie, and both were delicious. Highly recommend and will be back.
