My lovely bride and I stopped in on a Monday afternoon because this was Nora Ephron's favorite bagel bakery in the UES. When you first enter H&H, you realize immediately that you are in the right place, because they have 150 fifty-pound bags of All Trumps flour stacked against the wall. H&H has the best black & white cookies and chocolate babka we've ever had. The bagels are very good too. Highly highly recommended!
My NYC bagels of choice. I have a sesame bagel with vegetarian cream cheese every weekend morning, and that fills me up until dinner. Busy and long lines indicate that they are probably creating a lot of cream cheese, so it is always fresh. I detest cream cheese that tastes like it has been lying there for a week. Always warm and bursting with seeds are bagels.

Came here to try out their Lox Sandwich. There wasn't a long line when I came and unfortunately they don't really much seating. They only have two little tables so it makes it hard to eat if it's cold outside and you're just visiting the city where nowhere else to go. I was still able to ask someone that was already finished eating if it was ok for me to sit down there. No issues at all. I ordered my Nova Sandwich with cream cheese, tomatoes and capers.
