Outstanding service. Chill ambiance. Stopped just for a drink but definitely involved to come back for the food, it smelled amazing!!!

Had dinner with my sister who lives in NY and she suggested it. An elevated, modern Korean spot with a NY flair. They have a prix fix menu where you can get an appetizer and main course. I got the yuzu bacon pasta starter and she got the crab pasta. Both were very delicious. The yuzu bacon had a little sweetness to it and definitely tasted the yuzu in the bacon. Wasn't sure the flavors were going to work but they definitely did. And given we were in NY, you know the pasta was cooked perfectly. The crab noodles were also good and they had a szechuan type slight numbing spice but not super spicy, just some heat. We also got the calamari salad which had some nice citrus brightness to it and was a nice contrast to the pasta. I got the truffle donabe which is like a beef bibimpap with truffles. It was pretty good although the rice was slightly over cooked so it went from crispy to burnt which was a tad disappointing. Otherwise, it was pretty flavorful and the truffles didn't over power the rest of the flavors. We got the shishito peppers to accompany the meal and it was nice to have some greens to what was an otherwise pretty carb-y meal. We finished with some desserts which were good but not spectacular. The drinks are pretty good there too and the service was good although sometimes it took awhile to get an order. We sat upstairs which had a classic ambiance to it. It was a very good and different meal which I enjoyed. Not sure I would definitely go again but would recommend if you want to try a spin on Korean food.

Absolutely excellent food.. Not far away from a Michelin Star level cuisine... Keep it up!

Came here recently for brunch Saturday—we got a table upstairs. Tried the “5 Plates Table to Share”—overall, it was just okay. The Burrata & Beets and Fruit Salad were nothing special and the Mochi Pancake was my least favorite, super dry and the butter/jam was not enough to help that. The King Crab Noodle and Yuzu Bacon Rose Pasta were both pretty good and tasty! We also got the small HORTUS Royal Platter—just your basic raw (or chilled) seafood. For drinks, the Bottomless Cocktail for $25 is a good option if you like light alcohol, sugary/sweet drinks—and the drink options are limited to 3 specific drinks. Not worth it if you like stronger, less sweet drinks, like myself. Overall, the meal was okay but I don’t think I would come back.

Came twice, both times they messed up my order. Gave me wrong dish & then gave me two of something when I ordered one.

leaving a review simply for the bacon yuzu rose pasta. I need 20 more plates of that ASAP! Outside of that particular dish which deserves all the shine, I really appreciated the friendly service and how CLEAN everything was. Perfect for an important work dinner or a fancy celebration. The atmosphere is quite quiet, if that's something you're looking for!

Stopped by for dinner last week, and our table did a round of the two-course fixed price menu. I tried the yuzu bacon rose pasta and the cod. Both dishes were firmly, solidly...OK. The pasta wasn't served as warm as I was hoping for, but the flavors were good. The cod was prepared without additional flair and because four of us got the cod, we were all surprised to note how average this one was. Had higher hopes for a more interesting series of flavors, but that was not to be. Also, Hortus felt very "New York" because our five-person party was seated at a table that was just barely big enough for our group. It was not very boisterous inside, so the ambiance was a bit strange, aided by the weird setup--the first floor is just a bar, but that bar was empty, so we walked in thinking the place was dead for a 7:30 PM reservation on a Friday night. Then we were walked upstairs and it was packed, but most of the tables were on the quiet side. I could see this atmosphere working better for people looking for a quieter experience, but for those expecting city flair, look elsewhere.

This review is for a few months back. Really enjoyed my experience at Hortus. We stoped to celebrate a birthday. We went with the dinner prefix menu and enjoyed the food. However, the service was not as good as we had hoped. As soon as we were brought up to our table a server bringing drinks walked behind my bf while he was taking off his jacket. The tables are pretty crammed together and he bumped into the lady. She then proceeded to give him dirty looks. The place was pretty empty when we came and the restaurant has a modern design but the ceiling/walls had cracks that were repaired with tapes. Overall, we had a decent experience and the food was good.

Really great, have walked past this place so many times, but never been in. Main dining area on first floor. Menu was simple but plentiful, food was fabulous and service great, Would recommend. Good value for money too - especially in
