Pizza dough was on point, with lovely ingredients but the use of Thai basil instead of Genovese basil on the pizza is hard to excuse.

the gnocchi is to die for! Such good cheese. Great ambiance and in such a nice location too, right next to morningside park. The service is not the most friendly, but they get the job done well and neatly. I would definitely come back here again. Great food and ambiance for sure.

I have been living in UWS for 2 years and I just found out that this place has an amazing pizza. The restaurant is small and cozy. They offer a good happy hour deal from 4pm to 6pm Sunday to Thursday. Pizza margherita for $10 and drinks from $5-$8. The service is fast and they are friendly too. We had the pizza, caprese di bufala and for tiramisu & chocolate lava cake for dessert. This restaurant will be one of my favorite restaurant in UWS for sure.

My wife and I enjoy coming to this restaurant. The food is good well plated and the owner, waiters and busboys are very attentive. Their pizza's are delicious the appetizers are very good and the meatballs in sauce are great, many Italian restaurants fall short on their meatballs not at Ortomare. We have brought our adult son's and their wife's and they like Ortomare Restaurant very much. One of my daughter in law is a General manager to a Michelin rated restaurant and she scores Ortomare very well. Keep up the good work !

It’s ok. Stale bread, undercooked rigatoni, etc. I’ll come back at a different time for some pizza.

I cannot remember what the name of the dish was that I got but it was a red sauce with cheese. Pretty basic but very tasty! Good bread and oil for the table as well. A bit more than I'd like to pay for just a basic pasta dish, but not terribly priced. Nice waiters and cute, small restaurant. Came at 7pm on a Friday and no wait.

We were a party of 6 two adults and 4 teens. We wanted a place off the beaten path and can get good food at a decent price. This place did not disappoint at all. It has a quaint European style with an NYC feel. The service staff was very attentive and the food was delicious. We ordered 3 appetizers the meat balls and fried calamari was delicious. The pizza were brick oven my only suggestion if you like a crisper crust ask them to keep it longer. We are planning on going back.

We had a delightful family dinner at Ortomare. The service was exceptional, welcoming, and attentive, which was a big plus for us with kids. The food was top-notch - the Margherita pizza, made in the visible fire oven, was a hit. The spinach salad with olive oil, balsamic dressing, and goat cheese was a flavor explosion. The sage ravioli was a standout, with a noticeable taste of sage that was a real treat. We capped off the evening with the amazing chocolate lava cake and vanilla gelato. And we can't forget to mention their excellent selection of Italian wines. Definitely worth a try.

Small and cozy Italian restaurant on UWS. Had a lovely time there and our staffs were really nice. I enjoyed my main course (homemade fettuccine with bolognese sauce) but I think the appetizer calamari could be crispier & the sauce could be more flavorful. The salad was just ok. Pricing is on the higher side.

Cute restaurant on the border of UWS & Harlem. We got the bolognese, diavola pizza, calamari, and caprese. Food was very good and fresh. For drinks, tried the aperol spritz, manhattan valley cocktail, and an old fashioned. Cocktails were average. Someone in our group got gluten free pizza and said it was great quality as well

Wood fire pizza was cooked just right. The dough was not soggy or too crispy. The crust was delish. We had the red sauce eggplant pizza. The fresh fettuccine was al dente... mushroom/spinach sauce a bit bland. However, I would return and recommend.

The service was great, but the food was very basic. Not bad, but not worth what they're charging. The gnocchi and pizza were decent, however the carbonara was disappointing. Honestly, I can make better carbonara than what was served - need to pay $21 for it.

We had an intimate New Year's Eve dinner. I had the pasta and sausage dish and my husband had his favorite dish, salmon with spinach in lemon sauce and baked potato fingers. For desert we has their delicious chocolate lava cake. The atmosphere was festive and the service was excellent. If you are considering a cocktail, I reccommend the Lemon Cello.

Had dinner here with a friend. Staff and owner are so friendly. Very charming ambiance in the restaurant. Drinks we had were excellent. Appetizers were excellent calamari, beet salad, sea scallops. Entrees were seafood linguini special and chicken parm. We left full, happy, and agreed we would be back for sure.
