I've had vegetarian and omakase before but never together and this place was an experience. All the tables were nicely spaced out and each dish was explained. You can taste each and every ingredients that they use. Luckily I was able to try this place before they close their doors for good.

There were about ten courses on the tasting fine dining menu. We were looking forward to seeing how good vegan cooking could get. Unfortunately, if this as good as it gets, we will never join the ranks of veganhood. For the most part the cooking was bland. The food was largely brown with no attention given to color or even flavor. The dishes were nicely presented but disappointing once you bit into them. Service was fine, though it was hard to understand what was being said. The servers rushed through the ingredients with their heavy Japanese accents. A slower, more thoughtful and caring presentation would have been in order. We paid about $200 per person with tax and tip. This included wine.

It was wonderful as always. We went to celebrate my friend's birthday and to enjoy the experience one last time before it closes. We will miss this quiet retreat and hope to see the team again.

Phenomenal food - August monthly omakase menu was excellent. Very seasonal and refreshing. I will miss this restaurant when it closes in September. The service is always top notch and love the attentiveness of all staff, servers, and the chef.

Kajitsu was always on the top of my list, and my husband and I finally got a chance to go there. It is very sad that the restaurant will close down permanently next month, but it was absolutely the best food experience in NYC. We have been frustrated because we haven't been able to visit Japan for so long because of the Covid, but we totally regenerated thanks to them! :)

I had omakase with tea pairing. I highly enjoyed the meal. I wanted to try Kajitsu at least once as it was always on my bucket list. I only wish I had tried it sooner. I hope Kajitsu opens again in NYC maybe in another capacity or in another space. Nonetheless I enjoyed the meal, the ambiance, and the service of the staff (who were more than excellent and courteous).

Kajitsu may be a vegetarian's/vegan's delight, but even those without dietary restrictions can appreciate the variety of dishes in their pre-fixe courses. Service is impeccable, the omakase is surprisingly filling, and the overall experience was solid.

Authentic, quiet, private with delicious and freshly made food, delicate presentation but also at very decent price. Really enjoyed the “me-time” eating by myself. Couldn’t expect more and will definitely visit again!

One of the best vegan restaurants that I have been to. The seasonal variations accompanied by the alternating chill and hot dishes brought shocks to your palates. The menu started off with a fresh tomato with hints of yuzu flavor that drove the summer heat away. Every grilled dish was embodied with strong wood flavor that elevated the freshness and juiciness of summer vegetables. 10/10 would recommend.

Amazing Japanese Shojin cuisine that you will dream about for months. Came here almost one year ago and still think about our meal. Everything was perfect, beautiful, and balanced The service was outstanding. The teas were phenomenal. I would eat here every day if I could.

TLDR: Save your money and skip this one The karaage was the only saving grace of this meal. The other appetizers were lacking in flavor and structural integrity. I ordered the soba duck noodles and felt that the broth was way too salty and the duck fat on top of that was too much. The soba noodles itself were cooked well but could not be eaten with the saltiness of the broth.

Eh this place was a disappointment. The prix fixe menu is a bit pricey but that's where we were initially seated and the ambiance was quite nice! Even when we moved downstairs for the a la carte menu, the vibes were immaculate and everything was presented so nicely. The food was certainly lacking and that was the disappointment. The tea I ordered was pretty hard to swallow down and so grainy/unflavored I regret that order. The egg omelet was the best dish of the bunch, but I really didn't enjoy the radish side. The tofu was solid but nothing to rush for. And the soba with tempura was a huge disappointment - broth was extremely lacking in flavor and the dish was just a bit unoriginal. I was not super happy with my meal, especially given the hype and price point.

Kajitsu served expertly sourced produce flown directly from Japan. It is truly a privilege to be able to experience the freshness in Japan, half way across the globe. However, we live in times where fermentation based cuisine is the norm, especially in vegetarian and vegan restaurants. The lack thereof really felt underwhelming in terms of taste, but I reckon that nutrition is at the essence of shojin ryori and I must admit that I was very fulfilled after the hearty 12 course meal.

Celebrated my boyfriend's birthday here and was blown away. This was our second time enjoying a meal here, and it's our favorite restaurant in the city. The service is always calm and focused, and the food is thought provoking and delicious. Warrants a slow and intentional dining experience, and I cannot wait to return!
