I want to start by giving the disclaimer I’m not impressed by the aesthetics of dishes, judging restaurants purely on taste, service, and, ambiance (which is subjective and mood-dependant). I will also give the disclaimer that I’ve been to many Michelin star restaurants, whether 1, 2, or 3 stars, and I’ve never thoroughly enjoyed and craved to go to any of them again. That said, I’ve been to several “bib gourmand” Michelin recommended restaurants that I highly enjoyed. I booked this restaurant for my fiancé, as she tends to love the experience of fine dining (albeit she tends to agree with me on being underwhelmed by the taste, and value, of these highly coveted spots). The amuse-bouche was perhaps the highlight of all the dishes. The mushroom soup was incredibly tasteful. After that, there was a rough start. I had requested no onions of any kind on any dish, which they were gracious enough to accommodate. I hate onions with a burning passion. On my first dish, there was a point made by the server that they’d prepared everything for me onion free. I didn’t look closely, and unfortunately the dish was garnished with fried onions. Said fried onions stuck to my molars, and I had to sit and pick them out of my teeth (rather uncouth), as I couldn’t get the taste of onions out of my mouth, threatening to ruin every subsequent dish. After that the next few dishes were quite good. The sauces, especially, were incredibly savoury and delicious. That said, the bread was lacking (I tried one piece of each), and did not stand out like it does at many high end steak and seafood establishments. Perhaps this is partially due to our late night reservation (9:45), if it was baked fresh in the morning. The heavy butter use in all the sauces started taking its toll through the meal, leaving both of us feeling heavy, and over satiated. By the time our Dover sole arrived, we were feeling the need to force down our dishes; not from too much volume of food, but too much fat content in the food. The Dover sole itself was slightly over cooked and a bit rubbery (although the brown butter, olives and roasted almond slices were a fantastic combination).I opted to stop drinking wine due to the over satiety from the fat content, whereas my fiancé actually became ill while trying to eat her truffle pasta and had to rush to the restroom. I will say that we did order an extra Dover sole, as we wanted to ensure we had enough protein, which may have tipped us over the edge due to the additional sauce content. All in all I would say the food was a 3.5-4/5 for taste, albeit far higher fat content than we typically can manage, presentation was great, and value was 2/5, leaving my overall rating a 3/5.

Meh I don't really get the hype. Room is beautiful and service is very efficient (not particularly personal). Feels like you're in Dorsia from American Psycho. We went with the 4 course option and I ordered the tuna with foie, langoustine, Dover sole and two desserts (the famous off menu egg and the Peruvian dark chocolate). The six people at my table all agreed that the desserts were the best part of the meal! Definitely order the egg! The savory dishes were fine but totally not memorable - I couldn't even finish my sole. At this price point and with these accolades I expect to be wowed and I unfortunately was not.

Amazing experience at Le Bernardin! Everything was perfect from the service to the food to the bread and wine. We loved speaking with the wine expert about their expertise.

The pillar of the NYC fine dining, fantastic food and wine experience!!!! Something is missing from the ambience, not sure whàt, sorry. Maybe because all the exciting food experiences are booming around the City.

Ambiance and service are first-rate, as is the wine list. The food was very good with one miss, the amberjack with bone marrow was too salty and rich. I should've done black seabass. A good experience. I'm not sure the value was there but not overpriced either. Aquavit might be slightly better. I'm glad I went to try. Again, first rate staff. I'd give this restaurant 4.5 stars if i could. It just wasn't the best meal i've ever had and admittedly a very high bar. Not a serious comment but its a french restaurant, shouldn't they refer to the sea-bass as loup de mer and not branzino?

Not what I expected from a 3 Star Michelin restaurant. They are heavy on the seafood which was what drew us to choose le Bernardin and the fact that my husband had already dined at Chef's Table and Per Se. Food: We ordered the Chef's tasting menu. I'd say only 6 of the 10 courses served were well executed. And one of my dessert courses had a hair in it which is unacceptable for a 3 star Michelin restaurant. I did not get an apology from the waiter who I mentioned it to, I got a curt apology from the waiter who brought a new dish over. I like the initial appetizer courses, tuna & uni, langoustine & foie gras, Sole with mushrooms, salmon & caviar were all very good. The seabass, the halibut (the main course), both were lacking in taste. I had a hard time getting the halibut down. Service: With at least 3-4 sommeliers walking around and a plethora of staff, I was surprised they allowed me to go 2 courses with an empty drink. They already had taken my order earlier but I had to wave someone down to remind them after 2 Courses went by without bringing my wine. Also unacceptable for a 3 Star Michelin. I felt there should have been a bit more sincere apology or some sort of consolation prize for finding a hair in my food. Ambiance: The restaurant is larger, less intimate spot. The dress code said Business Casual, but it must only be a suggestion since plenty of people were wearing jeans in the dining room and someone walked in and was seated in sneakers, a hoodie and sweats. Overall the experience was very underwhelming and disappointing and doesn't deserve 3 stars. Not even sure they deserve 2 in my opinion.

Excellent! Excellent! Adam, Maro and Virgil took care of our every need! The freshly prepared Dover Sole, pictured here, is exquisite. Try the non-alcoholic and very cool mocktails !

I'm just joking. I've never been there. But seeing as this is a top U.S.A. restaurant, I'm hoping my friends save money and take me there!

I recently enjoyed an exceptional dining experience during lunch. The staff was attentive and every detail was considered. We picked the lunch menu for the flexibility in our choices, but every dish exceeded expectations. The halibut and shellfish medley I had was a masterpiece of flavor, showcasing the restaurant's commitment to elevating the ingredients and presenting the fish as the star of the dish. The tuna and foie gras dish my girlfriend had was incredible (definitely a must try). Le Bernardin ranks among the finest dining establishments I've encountered in New York City. It definitely deserves their three Michelin stars. I can't wait for my next visit to savor their dishes again.

The best restaurant in New York. Best in every way. No comparison. Incomparable among the three Michelin stars in New York. One level higher than Perce.
