The food was lame. Not sure why the buratta had been infused with truffles. The gnocchi were truly unpleasant. The branzino ok. All in all this place restaurant was not trying and if they were and this is there best keep away. The last time I go by on line ratings

Food and service excellent. Octopus app, watermelon salad and veal cutlet all superb. Elegantly split and plated in the kitchen. We were the last to leave. The staff patiently waited while my friend and I finished our conversation. I'd passed by many times and finally tried it. The only regret is I didn't try it sooner.

There are so many Italian restaurants on the upper east side, and it can be difficult to distinguish one from the other. This is one of those great neighborhood, Italians, that delivers the goods over and over in a quiet and unassuming way.

I seldom give 5 star reviews, but Luna Rossa deserves one. Food is wonderful; we had a salad, pasta, veal and dessert, everything was delicious. Service was very good. The restaurant is comfortable and quiet enough to be able to have conversation without yelling. My only negative is that, while the food is fairly priced for the quality, drinks are over-priced. But, that won't stop me from returning soon.

Luna Rossa is the kind of neighborhood restaurant that every neighborhood ought to have. The menu is varied, the food is excellent, the staff is professional and friendly, and the prices are reasonable (not cheap, but fair and good value). It's a comfortable, appealing, convenient place with a relaxed vibe.

We had a wonderful meal at Luna Rosa. The Caesar salad was delicious as was the ravioli special (truffle) and the Tagliatelle Bolognese. The wine list is very reasonably priced. The ambience is cozy and the service was excellent. A great choice for authentic UES Italian dining.

Great classic Italian food. Good friendly service. Space a little tight, but they do the best they can.

Luna Rossa over delivers every time we eat here. The service is fantastic. We never feel rushed. The food is so good from the pasta, veal, octopus! They also make the best cosmo - my daughters and I look forward to this each time we eat here.

My husband and I dine here frequently and always love the food, ambience and service. Last night, New Year's Eve, we decided to celebrate at home. Wondering where to order a special dinner to be delivered, we decided on Luna Rossa. We could not have been happier with the meal and the presentation. We both had the Polpettine di Manzo appetizer (large enough to save one for tonight); then we both had the Scalloppini Di Vitello ai Funghi which was absolutely delicious. It was also a large portion of veal, mashed potatoes, broccoli, carrots and green beans, smothered in mushrooms and delicious gravy. We waited a while before we had the dessert, a light and fluffy cheese cake, served with mint and candied cherries. Every dish was artistically presented and delicious to eat. Thank you, Luna Rossa, for making our New Year's Eve dinner a very special one. Happy New Year to all of you. See you soon!

Our choice of Luna Rossa for New Year Eve's dinner was perfect! We sat in a cosy corner by the tree and enjoyed attentive service and lovely atmosphere. I didn't give 5 stars to the food which I would have because I have eaten there before, because I ordered a special rather pricey pasta dish with lobster and Cavatelli. The pasta was cooked perfectly and the sauce was delicious but lobster was tough and chewy and lacked the the succulent sweetness I was anticipating. I think perhaps the chunks of lobster had been simmering in sauce and not steamed separately and added later. Of course I will back, dining at Luna Rossa is always pleasant.

Can't explain how I overlooked this restaurant around the corner from me for 25 years-I'm a creature of habit short of exploration time. What a find at long last! Best place to experience Italy's cuisine with imaginative flourishes each night. The specials throughout the week provide any taste preference with the perfect solution. the staff is always welcoming snd accommodating. Vitello Tonato, calves liver and carmelized onions, shaved artichoke and arugula salad; fish so fresh you'll feel like you're adjoining Fulton Street Market. The space, while not large, offers enough reasonably well placed tables for privacy. Try my favorite caviatelli pasta w/ sausage and broccoli rabe. Don't miss desert either- Italian cheesecake perfect!

Great service! And great food! We wanted to split a pasta dish and they split it for us before serving which was unexpected and SO appreciated. Penne vodka is exceptional.
