Do not try their vegan Bao’s ! It’s the worst tasting food I’ve had in a while - it’s 6 for 15$. I had one bite and threw all 6 of them.

Came in for a quick bite. Did not disappoint! Favorite was the pork Bao! Will definitely be back!Kid-friendliness: May 6yr old was equally satisfied

Our party of three shared an order of 12 dumplings consisting of lamb, beef, pork, and chicken. The dumplings tasted ok. However, the dumpling skin was way too thick. There were no tables for eating. There are much better dumpling shacks in NYC than this place.

I'm on my search for the best Bao. I was visiting the Chelsea market and stopped in Mao's Bao. I ordered 6 pork baos pan fried. The meat filling wasn't as juicy as I expected. The dough was good and it was a nice size. The sauce he gave me was literally a teaspoon. You can even see how little he gave me in the picture. So to share it I decided to just wait and go home to make my sauce.Great on the go!What are your favorite places for bao??I'd love to go and try them!!Enjoy!!

This was a great little place! Lamb and impossible buns were great. Pork belly buns were outstanding!

Mao's Baos in NYC receives three stars for offering average dumplings. I tried the chicken, pork, and lamb ones, and while they were decent, they didn't stand out. On a positive note, they have a vegan option in collaboration with IMPOSSIBLE, catering to different dietary preferences.

Food is good but it's kinda pricey. It's also pretty filling because of how dense it is but I like it that way.

Their food is delicious I first tried them at a food festival, their prices there are 15$ for 6 which is more expensive then their price in store (12$ for 6). So keep that in mind. I highly recommend their lamb bao.

Visited Chelsea Market and decided to check out Mao's Bao. The food was alright, but the service was sluggish and uninspiring. Moreover, they were out of a significant portion of their menu.

no one to take order.. “be back in 10 minutes” sign and waited well over 20

They are ok for American standards and people who have never tried shengjianbao before. This was obviously machine made baos and they are not that juice nor are the baos crispy.

A rare 2-stars from me, it's a great concept but not very well executed.I was excited to try the Gua Bao and Jian Bao. The Gua Bao wasn't available, so we tried the Juan Bao. They looked good being cooked (see pictures) but as they were not served freshly made, the skins were not crispy and overall not hot enough. Some of the skins were broken so no juices. We tried the pork and lamb, the fillings were dense and not soft, felt like they were frozen meat. The service was friendly and helpful.

They have a great variety of meats and fillings. The chicken and the vegan ones to me are the best!!
