I absolutely love Milk Bar. The Crack Pie is addicting and I love their cereal milk ice cream. I learned that I may be in the minority here, because I shared a bite with my friends who all thought it was disgusting. Their loss! The cookies here are also a fun treat. The only downside is the price. Regardless, I always try to make a trip to Milk Bar when I'm near one!

Let’s say you want a sweet treat relatively late at night and find yourself in the East Village and find yourself reading a certain Eater article about the best dessert places near you. Please do not make the mistake I did and go to literally anywhere other than Milk(ing your hard earned money) Bar. If you want to pay 18 dollars for suspiciously salty soft serve in a cup with potentially two (2!!!!) false bottoms and a prepackaged cookie or slice of milk bar pie (pie crust), go right ahead! But if you prefer any semblance of reason or simply do not want to experience such disappointment at the end of your day, please either wait for the next day to come and satisfy your craving with any number of delicious nearby options or pop into a bodega and get yourself a well deserved ice cream sandwich, a dessert with more originality, flavor, and substance than anything sold at Milk Bar.

Update. The cake finally came in on Monday afternoon. However, their instructions are "If your order is delayed by 2 (or more) days and contains a cake, pie, and/or truffles, please dispose or refuse delivery, as it will no longer meet our standard of quality and freshness for your enjoyment." As this was shipped on Wednesday we got rid of the cake. Also, they did finally reach out to me on Friday afternoon stating, "Unfortunately, it appears that your package may have been lost during the transition into our courier's hands, and we deeply regret this oversight." - really? In this day and age of electronic notification it's hard to believe they weren't aware on Thursday morning. They also stated, "As we investigate and implement measures to prevent such occurrences in the future. . . " however, if you read the numerous online reviews and BBB complaints (BTW - they have a F rating with the BBB!), this isn't the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd time this issues has happened. So they never investigate nor implement any changes. Lastly they stated, "We can set up a reshipment for your order, scheduled to arrive on the next available date" - however, they don't tell you when that would be - if they had 1% thought about the customer service they would have said WHEN they would schedule another delivery - especially since you can't call any one and even though I requested they CALL me - all they have done is sent 1 form e-mail. It's funny because since I ordered this cake last Wednesday I have received probably 5 marketing e-mails. So they know how to get in touch with people. . . but they just CHOOSE NOT TO contact them!

This milk bar is pretty small but that doesn't really matter in my opinion. I was just a little confused when I ordered the cookies and cream soft serve but it tastes like salty butter. For 15$ for 2 tiny cups of ice cream I won't be coming back. For the price range I am going back to kith treats from now on.

I'm a bit surprised at the vitriol towards Milk Bar these days. Also, I'm a little embarrassed that Milk Bar is the first place that got me out of a Yelp review rut in a while. I think that dichotomy is what summarizes the state of Milk Bar. Milk Bar is influential, a bit dated, and desirous of serving you sprinkles. I've been visiting Milk Bar since 2008, when it was considered edgy. The techniques used in the finest pastry shops were used to elevate childhood favorites like funfetti or cereal milk. It was cool to have a fresh cookie served in a wrapper as if it came from a gas station. They were also innovating with riffs on all sorts of junk food staples. See Mike C's review of Milk Bar in 2012 about the pretzel milk jug to get a sense of just how far they were pushing the envelope. Unfortunately, Milk Bar is a victim of its own success. Now people expect the artisan milled flour in the adult version of their Pop Tarts. Don't even get your aunt who never took a science class after high school started on using grapeseed oil in their birthday cake! Milk Bar was always meant to be elevated junk food and that's what it tastes like. To expect more is setting yourself up for disappointment. What they do well is with paying homage to foods that you would be too embarrassed or rightfully wary of putting in your body as an adult. The cereal milk soft serve perfectly captures the deliciousness of drinking the milk after eating a bowl of Cap'n Crunch. I had their sandwich cookie sundae and the soft serve was flavored like the creme inside a sandwich cookie. I expected something cloyingly sweet. The ice cream instead heightened the salty edge that you taste when the creme is lifted off the cookie while balancing it with that one-note sweet background. It's brilliant. I respect their failures too. I did not like the pancake cake and that's okay! I wish I'd been able to try the Cheetos birthday cake as well. Go in with the expectations of getting a hit of something you loved when you were 7-8 or something you might hate but is faithful to the original (the pancake cake). I respect their risk-taking and their undying patronage of what got them on the map in the first place, which is junk food.

Really small location just serving take out orders. All the items are standard Milk Bar foods. Overpriced but that's what Milk Bar is! Pie is as buttery and dense as what a more solid pecan pie would be like. Too rich for me. But I interacted with a very nice staff member who made my experience really lovely. If I'm ever craving Milk Bar again I'll be sure to come here.

The ice cream was not even an ice cream. It felt like I was eating salt only. It tasted terrible. We had DIY, cookie cream sundae, and cookie cream swirl. The cookie cream swirl was plain vanilla ice cream with no cookies. They also tasted terrible. We had to throw all of them in a bin. I highly suggest not wasting your precious money on this “ice cream.”

They used OnTrac, one of the worst delivery companies in the country to deliver the gifts I sent to my brother's company for his birthday. OnTrac drivers are independent contractors and regularly mark items as delivered that were never delivered. Customer service is unprofessional and doesn't give a damn. The best part is that Milk Bar won't refund missing or damaged items, or any issue, due to the delivery company they chose.

My recent order from Milk Bar (Metropolitan Ave, Brooklyn) was TERRIBLE. I don't even know how it is possible to make ice cream with hot fudge and sprinkles UNPALATABLE but Milk Bar has done it. I ordered a pint with cereal milk ice cream, hot fudge and sprinkles that my husband tried and said had a "funny" chemical taste. The next day I tried a scoop of it and it was just disgusting. Literally unpalatable. It didn't taste sweet and delicious like any item of this type should. Even a flavor of ice cream that isn't your favorite should be sweet and relatively delicious. It was so bad that we threw the virtually untouched pint out. The birthday cake slice I ordered was borderline stale. I ate it only as a matter of principle because it was actually my birthday. The cookies I ordered (blueberry cream, corn and confetti) which had been my favorites were salty not sweet. Salty! Wth?! Since when are these salty cookie flavors? I feel that Milkbar was so popular that it either got too tired to keep up and has just given up or has taken its reputation for granted. Either way, very disappointing and I won't be ordering from or going there again. Buyers beware!

Wonderful surprise sweet tastes. Small store with excellent cookies. The cold brew is very addictive and delicious. The compost cookie is too sweet for me but worth trying too.

Everyone has been to and reviewed Milk Bar in NYC! This review is for delivery of Milk Bar goods across the country! So far I have sent a birthday cake and been the recipient of Birthday Cake and Pumpkin Milk Bar Pie! It can get a bit pricey but it's pretty awesome that you can send a cake and it can stay in the freezer until you or your recipient is ready to eat it! Modern Technology! Amazing!

I feel like Milk Bar is either a hit or miss, and I'm sure most people agree. This review is solely for their pumpkin coffee cake that a relative had ordered for Thanksgiving. The cake first and foremost was good and pretty moist granted it was mailed. However, it was a little too sweet (and I love my sweets) and I don't think the quality was anything exceptional, especially at that price. All in all, stick to what you know is good at the Milk Bar like their classic cereal milk soft swerve.

The milk pie very good! The customer service was fine. The branding was beautiful. Cereal milk ice cream was not that good I expected more. Skip the cake truffles. The chocolate b-day cake truffle tasted like a frosting ball covered with cereal. The cookies are also good.

I guess the cookies were ok, but what a huge let down - everything was pre-packaged! I wanted a fresh, warm cookie - and for this price, they should be. At least offer the choice.
