I would definitely recommend that any self proclaimed foodie stop here. We popped in this establishment to grab a drink, while we looked for a place to eat, but after entering the snug, dim lit restaurant we decided to this was the place. We luckily were able to grab a seat at the tiny bar as the tables were full. We started out with a few delicious cocktails (Negroni and the Mezcal Hemingway) while we perused the menu. We ended up ordering the oysters, pommes macaire, sarsuma endive pine nut and pecorino salad, and the steak frites. Each course lead to a greater anticipation of the next... until the steak frites. Honestly there was nothing " wrong " with the steak. It was cooked well and had a good texture but the sauce that was pored all over it subtracted from the steak itself. Also the wedge fries which were paired with the steak screamed English pub and not French faire. If there was something special about the fries I would understand the chefs decision to alter the traditional dish, but there was not. It was kind of sad that this was the final course of our night as it left much to be desired. But my 5 stars stands as every other dish was phenomenal, the service was exceptional, and the atmosphere was cozy.

Two 5 star visits in the books and I'm sure more to come. Walking into MIMI, we've been warmly greeted by the highly energetic host/server/somm (whose name I regret escapes me or I'd tell you to ask for him but who am I kidding the place is cozy, there's only one person on per shift anyway). I would describe the whole vibe as sultry bistro. The menu changes constantly with well prepared and thoughtful seasonal offerings. Most recently, we had pomme macaire (a great fried/mashed hybrid and something of a menu staple), coq au vin croquettes (can't go wrong with a little fried stewed bird), lobster and leek with beurre blanc (the star of the show), and (to make sure we were full) closed out with tagliolini with maitakes and cassoulet, which was a delicious elegant sufficiency for our little party of 3. The wonderfully curated selection of natural French wine makes a perfect pairing and our server had great recommendations and knowledge to share. I also had a house martini that was properly cold, and, while I like the idea of Lillet in a martini for something a bit different, the wine list is the real star for me on drinks. All in all? Good vibes, great service, delicious food. What's not to like?

The servers have great personality that engages the diners. The menu changes daily. The food is delicious & filling. Thoroughly enjoyed the lobster & leek; cassoulet and pasta & maitake dishes. Thanks you for a lovely evening.

Didn't like how you had to order the food all at once causing an unrelxaed pressure. Great spot to enjoy a bottle of wine, do not recommend for dinner. Atmosphere is great, dim lit and sexual. Waitor was very helpful however we did have a timelimit that was enforced. Very annoying.

Mimi would be pleased. The lovely little cafe in Washington Square is just perfect. The menu is short but focused on delicious French cuisine with a New York twist. Funky 70's playlist. Great wine. Well prepared food served with a positive vibe. See you soon.

Very good food, sort of a new spin in French classics. Tiny place, small menu, blessedly quiet and nice wine list.

We actually wanna try something else but we found out they change menu regularly. So we tried the asparagus and skate wing which are pretty good. One thing about the menu is that the options are quite limited so we didn't get as much food as we want.

There is no restaurant more perfect; this is a case study in how simple pleasures are made complex and dimensional through intentional selection and beautiful preparation. The menu showcases a seasonal point in time each day. Jungle bird with Mount Gay is utterly impeccable. The clams in broth with crusty bread was stunning. Bavette steak with fresh peas!!! Do not skip dessert, either: ice cream. Lovely attentive service.

Extremely claustrophobic. The conversation of the table next to us dominated our meal. A trip down an extremely set of steep stairs to the bathrooms almost caused a collision with a food server. That experience brought what little portions of light bites from stomach to chest. After receiving the bill, a donation to one's favorite charity would have better fulfilled someone else. One of the worst dining experiences ever including bland $65 Dover Sole, a$150 bottle of wine with one glass knocked over because seating was as tight as sitting in a center seat of an airplane. The bread was fresh and great but not worth the experience.

Fantastic drinks and incredible food. It’s a perfect date spot or a place to catch up with a friend.

Great place. Wonderful time and met some lovely people (Hi Josh and Drake!). Would go again without question any time I’m in the city. The food was delicious and high quality, bartender was attentive and intuitive. The low reviews don’t make sense. Any complaints about high prices seem to be from people who aren’t used to high quality dining in a great city. The point is, this is a great experience. Don’t miss it, and enjoy it!

Small and intimate but still energetic. Great spot for a date that’s the start of a grander evening. Shoutout to Troy behind the bar!
