I live across the street from Morochas and LOVE this place. The owner is so kind and he always has the biggest smile when I wave on my way by. Obviously the arepas are amazing, but don't sleep on their passionfruit juice in the summer and hot chocolate in the winter....both incredible!

Cannot wait to go back!I had a pabellón arepa, a chicken empanada, a beef empanada and a passion fruit juice. The pabellón arepa was too good! I don’t really eat arepas (I’m a bad Venezuelan, oops) but I couldn’t resist because pabellón is my favorite. The shredded beef in this arepa was great, it wasn’t tough to eat and it was full of flavor. The empanada, which was actually a pastelito is made in the oven. I told the owner, Esteban, that they are pastelitos, not empanadas, he told me it’s easier for non-hispanics to have an idea of what the item on the menu is if described as an empanada which made sense to me.The chicken in the pastelito is shredded, these pastelitos are pretty darn tasty!I wasn’t a huge fan of the beef one but it was alright too. I’m definitely looking forward to more chicken “empanadas” haha. The passion fruit juice is always a fave for me because it reminds me of back home. Very refreshingI really enjoyed this little restaurant. They recently celebrated their first anniversary, I wish them many more ☺️The owner is super friendly, so Venezuelan. There is limited seating, only about 3 stools and a table by the window, which I guess is fun for people watching :pI love that they show some of their menu items on their Instagram, I hope they add more photos and videos. It’s always helpful for people who are trying food from another country for the first time to see photos.Oh! There is also a lady who makes custom cakes and cookies here, Sweethaze cakes but I did not try any of them. Very pretty cakes, you can check them out on InstagramVegetarian options: There is a vegan arepa on the menu.

i had the best time going to Morochas Cafe! Honestly, the BEST empanadas I’ve ever had. It was almost an addiction. I’d order one empanada de carne, next thing you know, i was on my fourth one! Esteban is so friendly, and very attentive. I also tried his passion fruit juice and arepa de queso, which was delicious! Can’t wait for the next time i visit NY, so i can eat the gummiest empanadas.

Love the arepas here, they're made fresh and a good size. Just one is filling, my favorite is the Reyna.

I absolutely adore this cafe! Everything is delicious, but my fav is the Reyna arepa. The service is also exceptional and I love the creativity that has gone into creating such a warm, inviting space. Definitely check out this place for delicious arepas, empanadas, coffee and tea drinks, and desserts galore.
Amazing. Live in the area so came back this afternoon and the owner is so sweet, he’s extremely talented and the food is truly divine. The empanadas and arepas are both amazing, and so is the tea that he recommended to me. :)

Best Venezuelan arepa I’ve ever had in New York! La mejor arepa Venezolana en Nueva York. I’ve lived in New York for 5 years and I’ve gone to all the supposed Venezuelan hot spots. Even the Michelin rated one. None of those arepas compare to Morochas Cafe. Morochas is a cozy spot to grab and eat at the little counter by the window or take to go. I posted a picture on IG of arepa plate and all of my Venezuelan family members were in my DMs asking where I found an arepa like that in New York. Please go visit Morochas!! Chorizo arepa was delicious and the passion fruit juice is next level. Absolutely worth it 10/10
