Super cute nook in a really convenient location! I wish they had a slightly bigger space for eating in. The service was not bad, but definitely not something I would rave about. Loved the oatmeal and the option to add protein. Fresh and tasty!

I am a HUGE fan of açaí bowl. I mean, making them at home for myself and my parents on an almost daily basis kind of fan. I was shocked to see that the price of the bowl I wanted ( Nutella ) was ~14$?! I decided to bite the bullet and get it anyway as I had heard so many good things about playa bowls but never experienced the fun myself. When the cashier told me my total, it was 19$. Yes 19$. I hesitantly handed him that fun piece of plastic that I carry in my wallet & accepted it for what it was. I guess the fruit was out of season and so they added a few bucks to the already outrageous total. The fact that I walked out of there thinking that every dollar was well worth it even blows my own mind. It was absolutely delicious! Generous portion in my opinion, tasted fantastic, and they were playing fun Brazilian funk music the whole time :D

Açaí bowls and smoothies are fine, fruit didn't taste particularly ripe, especially the bananas topping the açaí bowls. Prices are also pretty ridiculous, adding strawberries is an extra $3 on top of an already $16 bowl. The real issue is the service speed. I went on a Saturday afternoon and there were maybe 3 people in the store and my açaí bowl and smoothie order took over 20 min. Thankfully the sweet cashier guy was apologetic and comped my added $3 strawberries (lol) but they must get a ton of online orders that really back them up because they were churning out orders, none for people actually in the store. Go to Oakberry açaí on Macdougal instead.

Wajid at playa bowls macdougal street always delivers. His customer service is incredible - he always goes above and beyond. As a UK citizen i’m not usually a fan of tipping culture but i’m always happy to tip at playa bowls. Especially when being served by Wajid!
