My table setting had knives on the left and forks on the right and my glass had lipstick stains on it. Just little things a previous restaurant worker noticed. Food was amazing. I was with two ladies and they went for medium and medium well and they were both more on the side of medium rare. The food was some of the best I've had in the city.

This restaurant is closing today after 30 years and I wanted to eat here one last time since I have been coming here regularly for the whole 30 years it's been here. When it opened it was a terrific steak house and kept a high standard for so many years. Always has the trademark sizzling steaks and the great Ruth's Chris sides. About 6 years ago we saw the place slipping significantly. The clientele changed to a much lower class of people so much so that the restaurant had to pre-call people to tell them that backwards or sideways baseball hats, trousers pulled down to the knees and tee shirts with foul words on them were not acceptable attire and they posted a bouncer at the front door to ask people to take off their backwards basketball hats. There was even a stabbing where a customer asked a loud table to quiet down, she was then assaulted and she stabbed the troublemaker with a steak knife. So you get the idea. The service went from great to mediocre although our regular waiter for many years - Laz - was always fantastic but he left last year seeing the future. The food stopped coming hot and they often ran out of bread or ingredients for their signature cocktails and for these prices that was unacceptable. The place became a little worn and dingy looking too. We found better places to eat such as Del Friscos Double Eagle steak house. But since I always loved Ruth's I kept coming back. More recently things improved substantially likely due to a management change. So on April 22 the last night of business we celebrated our wedding anniversary at Ruth's Chris. Our waiter was very nice and attentive. The appetizers came out before the cocktails and the waiter apologized but no big deal. The steaks were sizzling and sides were hot and delicious. We had a wonderful meal and a great experience. I'm so sorry to see this restaurant close as I have had so many great meals and celebrated many soecial occasions here for all of its 30 years. I hope they return to NYC soon!

I would say it was an OK experience. We went there for a celebration and knew that this would be a pricey meal. So I expected really stellar service and food. The food was fine, cooked well but nothing special. We had an issue with our service. After placing our order and eating our appetizers, we were told that the computer "lost" our order and we had to re-order. The waiter was apologetic and promised prompt service. After waiting 30 min, we called him over and told him, in very nice terms, that we were unhappy. He understood and said he'd bring over the manager. The food arrived quickly after that (actually while we were speaking to him) but we never saw the manager. Nor did we receive any make good on our meal--no drink or desert to make us feel better. For the prices they charge, we expected better. Overall, the experience was disappointing and I would rate the food just ok. I have no problem with these prices if it's worth it. Didn't feel it was. Really deflated the celebration.

Service was not great. Missing silverware ask he did not bring enough. Had to ask for things over and over again. Server kept dropping the plates on the table (just rude). They are closing this location and it show in the overall performance of last night dinner. We sent over $700 for four people.

The sides coming to the table could have been better. They weren't piping hot like the steaks, my brussels were over cooked yet cold. Clearly everything was prepared too far in advance of the steaks which were hot. Wished they were able to prepare the Caesar salad dressing w/o the anchovies for ppl who have a fish allergy. Overall, the meal was ok, just wanted to support one last time since we were a frequent diner and haven't had the opportunity to return since the pandemic. Sorry to see them close this location.

Restaurant closing has left the staff less than enthusiastic about their jobs. We were left waiting, even with a reservation. Management staff was less than accommodating. Table service was almost non existent and staff was lacking. Food was satisfactory.

Not great. Good food but far from fine dining. I was underwhelmed by the service considering the price. I'm on the fence to try another location given the experience I had here.

Second visit to Ruth's Chris in NYC and I will not be back. Despite the website outlining some vegetarian options e.g. Cauliflower steak, our server had no knowledge of what was available. What was served was pretty poor, basically a plate of asparagus, cauliflower and Mushrooms. Steaks were pretty tasty but overall standard of service has dropped significantly. Our server was pleasant but really didn't have much of a clue what he was doing. We waited a long time for our cocktails, we received our entrees within minutes of our starters. Overall a poor experience. We won't be back.

The food was delicious...my 10 year old granddaughter ate an entire 11 oz filet and Brussels sprouts and loved it all. Our waiter, Carl, was so exceptional that my granddaughter actually used some of her allowance money to tip him in addition to my tip. It was a very special first night in NYC! Sorry to hear you're closing but meanwhile you are providing excellent food and service. Thank you!

We had been delaying our V-Day dinner due to a stomach bug my partner had been recovering from. We finally reached the day where we could go out to dine after over a month and a half. I had heard the midtown west location of Ruth Chris was closing sometime in April of this year. So I had to try it!!! You'd think after 13 years living in Hell's Kitchen I'd already been but oh no! Let tell you... it was worth the wait!! When we entered the restaurant a very nice host, Kayla, welcomed us, took our coats and seated us. Let me tell you that we had the absolute BEST TABLE IN THE HOUSE! (Thanks Kayla!) It meant so much to me and my partner after the very trying month of February! We shared the Cesar salad starter and it was so good! Then the drinks came... my first choice was beyond perfect, the Raspberry Cosmo! Great balance of flavor, sweetness and alcohol!!!! Second drink was the blueberry mojito, as good as it was, the former drink choice was just far more superior. The entrees were a pair of filets... one was 8oz and mine was 11oz. Both well done but juicy AF!! When I tell you this was the best steak I've ever had, it's not hyperbole! JUST FACTS! I'll be dreaming of this steak for years to come!! Our sides were the loaded bake potato and the au gratin... PHEW!! That gratin was to die for!!! Must get... -Cesar salad -Raspberry Cosmo -Au Gratin -Filet -Cheesecake Each of what we consumed was worth every penny and then some!! This entire amazing experience would not have been possible without our irreplaceable Carlos! He was so kind and attentive without being overbearing. That's rare to have so we were pleased and honored to have had him as our server for our special evening!!! THANK YOU, CARLOS! He is a must-request when you visit Ruth Chris!!! Lastly, just a wholeheartedly THANKS to all who made our evening at Ruth Chris a memorable one!! We will follow you wherever you go!

Dissatisfied with our overall experience. We have been to Ruth's Chris in at least a dozen cities, it has become a tradition for our family. From the beginning of dinner, we arrived at our table and our drinking glasses were all dirty with food. I asked one of the servers to change out our glasses because they were dirty and he simply put the dirty ones on the table next to us for the next guests to use. My wine tasted rancid and food was subpar. The service was slow and the overall experience did not meet expectations from other locations. Money better spent elsewhere.

This place was beyond horrible. The salad was all yellow, every filet we ordered was tough and chewy and the lobster Mac had no cheese and the lobster was just a scoop of mush. I've never had such horrible food at Ruth Chris until this location.

The food and service are consistently great. It's sad this location is closing and a new location hasn't been announced yet. There are other great steak houses in NY but Ruth's Chris offers it's own individual style of great food, service and ambience.
