i tried the vegan chocolate explosion cupcake, and the guy at the counter gave me one with the buttercream half wiped off. the cupcake itself was about half the size of the others, the wrapper was so underfilled it shrunk around it. i was too non confrontational not to pay the 3.50 so i took it, paid, and bookended my way out of there. it was really dry. i think it might've been old? i don't usually write reviews but im really disappointed :-(

This place is CRACK!I love their cupcakes (pistachio has an amazing buttercream frosting) and their chocolate explosion pudding/cake thing. It looks interesting but is freaking AMAZING!Pricing isn't bad, service is nice, cash & credit friendly and always delicious. I can't walk by without going in and indulging in a couple of treats.

The people seemed very nice, but I got 6 cupcakes and they were dry as all get out. My dad and I both ate two cupcakes there and all 4 were the same. I brought the rest home and didn't even eat them. I basically just wasted more than $20 for no reason.The cupcake seemed either to be a couple of days old or the recipe was just... Not followed. It seemed more so that they were old though because when you'd go to peel the wrapper off, all the frosting crumbled and fell that was touching the wrapper and half of the cupcake was stuck TO the wrapper. The frosting was covered in a layer of sugar that wasn't enjoyable, either. It made the icing crunchy and weird.We made a mess all over the table (that we cleaned up with those tiny napkins that just pushed it around, mostly) just from him sharing a PIECE of cupcake with me, because as I went to pick up the piece, it just... Crumbled in mid air until I was holding icing.I regrettably took another piece (squishing the cake together so I could pick it up) and took a bite and ended up choking on it because it was dry and a piece went down the wrong pipe... And I was coughing for 10-15m after that. the folks hanging behind the counter didn't even notice.I'm sad because my friends recommended it for me and my dad (visiting from out of town) for his birthday and I feel like I wasted my money because we got 5 different flavors (2 cupcakes were the same flavor) and every one of them was disappointingly dry like this, but the ooey gooey was the worst. Like... Powder.I ended up going to supermoon and spending too much there because I wanted to have a good experience after the not so great one and knew it'd at least be fresh.

I come here for the puddings. The puddings are the absolute best in NYC. Blows Magnolias out of the water. They have different flavors on the menu and they are ALL amazing.I highly highly recommend if you enjoy desserts to try their puddings.

I get my black and white just right cupcake from SSS every birthday since I was 5 years old. And I’ll be 22 at the end of this month lol. They are my favorite!! I’ve now graduated into cakes haha. But I ordered this cake for my galentine’s party, and they did amazing!!! I will say, not a lot of my friends are cake people, but this time they asked to take some cake home. Communication was clear and fast + IT WAS SO PRETTY & SO YUMMY. THANK YOU SUGAR SWEET SUNSHINE

wish I had a better photo but this was a custom horoscope birthday cake that said "Leo Baby" and was so delicious!! We've seen purchased other birthday cakes from SSS and each time they've been amazing!
I’ve been here a few times to get bread pudding which is good! However, I ordered a cake for a friend’s birthday party and to be honest it was subpar. The layers frosting between each layer of cake was just as thick as the cake and extremely sweet and over powering. Wish I took a picture of the cross sections because I couldn’t believe the chunks of icing. Guests at the party were picking between the icing to get at the cake, which was moist and tasty but not assembled at all properly. Overall will return for bread pudding but not for any type of cake where that frosting is involved.Edit: Hi owner, was under my friends name not mine. I am leaving this review to tell you, I’m not sure how else you wanted me to tell you. Should I have called? Not sure that would’ve been efficient. Thanks for your time to respond, but I will not be ordering a cake again ever.

I ordered a strawberry flavored cake yesterday for my husband's birthday. This place is usually one of my favorite bakeries for cupcakes so I wanted to order a cake from them. The cake, unfortunately, was very disappointing. The flavor was decent, however the texture was dry and difficult to swallow. I was looking forward to a light, fluffy and moist cake. Will only stick to the cupcakes if I ever do come back.
