Probably one of the best omakase experiences I've ever had, even including Japan. High quality fish and craftsmanship from the lead chef, staff was attentive.

Husband bought me here for my birthday dinner. We sat for the first seating and realized we were the only ones there. I was skeptical at first wondering why there was no one else. However, after eating the courses it was very different than the other basic omakase places in a good way. As we were the only 2 people there, the atmosphere felt a bit awkward as it was too quiet in there and the chef did not bother interacting with us either. For around $200 a person before tax and tips, it was a decent amount of serving size. I was very full for a girl.

My husband and I have visited countless Omakase restaurants in Manhattan, and this is the restaurant where we can enjoy the most delicious, fun, and relaxing sushi. The old idea, or prejudice, that I had somewhere in my head that ``Japanese food tastes the best'' was shattered into pieces and disappeared.I take my hat off to the master (Hirohisa's husband) who raised the store owner, John. I have high hopes for the future.(PS: Since it was January, I also received a New Year's dish. I couldn't stop smiling from beginning to end while drinking the Dassai Blue I wanted to try lol)

The fish selection was good at Sushi Ikumi. If you prefer raw fish in your omakase, this is the place for you. There were 4 appetizers and 12 nigiri, dessert. They were all very fresh and prepared very well by the chef. The dinnerware was also very pretty with the sushi together. We loved all the fish selection but if I have to neat pick, I think the rice was under cooked, and the chef was a bit heavy on the soy sauce. I would recommend asking the chef to be light on the soy sauce. The ambiance and service were great. They were very attentive and polite. It was a pleasure to eat here. The price is about $240 pp.

definitely an omakase experience to remember. entrance can be a bit tricky to find due to the lack of a flashy sign, but I appreciate the intimate experience with the chef. food was delicious and was recommended a great sake pairing. each plate was delicately made and served in a timely manner. not too slow yet, not rushed. bathroom is also available for customers

We thought the food was very good, but the value was not. I.e., we've definitely had as good - or better - sushi in NYC for less than half the cost. This was probably why there was only one other person in the place.

My wife and I chose Sushi Ikumi to celebrate her birthday, and we couldn’t have made a better choice. This extraordinary restaurant set the bar high for what an omakase experience should be - authentic, engaging, and filled with culinary surprises. From the moment we arrived, the extremely friendly and attentive staff treated us like VIPs. Their impeccable service was remarkable, always ensuring our glasses were filled and our dining experience was nothing short of perfect.Sushi Ikumi’s chef, a true maestro in the kitchen, showcased his talent with every meticulously crafted sushi course. While he didn’t offer a backstory to each piece, it didn’t detract from the experience. His expertise and charisma resonated in every bite, making the meal a feast for all senses. The evening took an even more special turn when they presented a unique birthday dessert for my wife. It was a thoughtful gesture that made her feel truly celebrated and added a sweet touch to our memorable evening. For those sake aficionados, Sushi Ikumi offers an excellent selection that pairs beautifully with the meal. It was an added bonus to our already fantastic dining experience. In short, if you’re seeking an authentic omakase experience filled with warmth, exquisite food, and exceptional service, Sushi Ikumi should be on the top of your list. It certainly exceeded our expectations and we eagerly look forward to our next visit!
