In my opinion, this is what an omakase experience should be. New York is flush with new sushi restaurants touting a fancy interior, trying to justify their ever increasing prices with instagrammable gimmicks and post on social media. This place is low key, almost humble, but delivers on what should be the reason you are there. The meal was amazing and both the chef and server were extremely helpful explaining each selection. In alignment with what you would expect at a good omakase counter, the menu is seasonal and constantly changing. The omakase set started at $145 and you will need a reservation, but not months in advance like some other options.

Extraordinary. The service, the quality, the artistry and the deliciousness of Sushi Jin is unparalleled. Every piece of food that is served here, from the sushi to the dessert, is thoughtful, well executed and delicious. It’s hard to articulate just how good the experience dinning here truly is. But my advice is: do yourself a favor and try it for yourself!

Great service fantastic Omakase. Traditional omakase with only ingredients in season. The toro cheek and miso marinated roe are so delicious with a perfect balanced flavor!

The service you can't get anywhere, the experience from the atmosphere was one on one. The food Jin prepared depends on the seasons, and the menu are always mouth watering. I went back multiple times, because after eating at Jin any other omakase can't compare

My family ate a LOT of top notch sushi during our recent 2 week trip to Japan, but we kept remarking how this, our regular neighborhood sushi spot, compares so equally to these famous sushi houses. We really get world-class quality under the care of Chef Tachikawa and his team!We will be back as soon as the sushi itch strikes again!

I had the pleasure of dining at Sushi Jin with my brother last night. It was my second time dining here, and it continued to live up to my expectations. The presentation is beautiful and the food was delicious. The service was top notch with attentive and friendly staff and sushi chefs. Can't wait to come back again!

Incredible sushi, really personalized friendly service, and great vibes! Also very nice that the meal includes appetizers, soup, and desserts, unlike a lot of other omakase places.

Based on the overwhelmingly positive reviews, we were so excited to dine at this restaurant, but when we arrived we found a sleeping employee inside the restaurant and were told that dinner starts with over $100 and we’d have no choice in what is being served. We found that extremely weird and left.

Never done Omakase before, chose this spot due to all the good reviews. $145 per person, but I think you get what you pay for. Very cool experience and everything tasted delicious (wasn’t a fan of the sea urchin - but had never had before so was still cool to try). The waitress does a great job explaining how you should eat everything and describing the appetizers+desert, while the chef describes the sushi. She also recommended me a bottle of sake, which I really liked. Overall, if you want to try omakase, I think this is a great choice.

My omakase experience at Jin was nothing short of remarkable. Thanks in part to the exceptional and friendly chef. Their skillful artistry, warm demeanor, and personalized touch elevated the meal to new heights. The flavors and selection of seasonal and fresh fish left me with an unforgettable experience. Will continue to return as often as possible.

Great local unpretentious omakase. Solid value. They keep it simple and traditional. Lovely owners, seasonal menus with nice fresh fish from Tokyo. Enjoy coming here several times a year. Chef always has a surprise to delight and is willing to teach which I appreciate. Jean is a great host.

Great omakase. Amazing chef and attentive staff. I felt included in the process, the chef was excited about each course. Truly unique and I felt like a special guest.

Hands down best sushi on the UES. The omakase is probably the best value in the city. All the fish is high quality and there are a lot of interesting bites. It's a lovely intimate atmosphere that is comfortable without the pretention of other high-end sushi places. They were incredibly kind to my wife helping her with her crutches. Solid sake selection, though I wish they had a few more options to have by the carafe. Both of us can't wait to come back.
