It finally happened. I had a meal in NYC that wasn't a 5-star or 4-star. First let me say that if my review were merely on the server, she would get 10 stars! We had a young, vivacious music conservatory student who was our waitress. She was amazingly fantastic & full of personality. The food however was really not that great. I ordered something called Imam Baylidi. It's eggplant with a reduced tomato & onion topping. I received a 1-inch thick hunk of eggplant with the topping as advertised. The eggplant was just a tough piece of ...eggplant. My knife struggled to cut through it. The topping was just ok. I have had better meals, but again our waitress was the best.

This is definitely one of the gems on Upper West Side. The staff were delightful and food was exceptional.

I must say that their portions were a lot bigger than other restaurants I've been to, Including their salad which we split between the two of us, and I took some home and their actual meals. Service was a bit spotty. We ordered a salad with pecans and since it didn't come with them, we told our waiter and it took a while, but two guys came one with walnuts and one with pecans. Our waiter, Matthew, was very helpful. The restaurant was moderately busy, but it took a while after we had our salad before our main course came.

My daughter and myself were planning on some Italian food. But she recommended trying this place. It was a great idea. When you walk in there are all the baked goods like a NJ diner. But the place is not a diner. Anyway we sat. Our waitress was super nice and prompt. We ordered humus to share. It was good. I got the gyro platter. It was delicious. She got a stuffed eggplant with meat and cheese. Very unique and very good. Place has a cool vibe. High ceiling. They also have Italian food on the menu. So kind of a hybrid situation. Prices were fair. Nice portions. I would recommend

While the decor and overall vibe of Telio Taverna was lovely and our server couldn't have been more helpful, the food was terminally mediocre. I'm a huge Spinach Pie lover and it was by far the worst spinach pie I've ever had. It was more like a pastry with a bit of spinach, the crust was dry, tasteless, the greek salad had no grape leaves, the lemon potatoes were cold as was the focaccia, and my friends lentil soup had a weird taste not as in bad or off but not flavorful, the two high points were the grilled octopus appetizer and the greek yogurt dessert, albeit IMHO $11 was way too high to pay for such a small portion. Moving forward we may come back for a tea and dessert, but given how much we spent, we won't be returning for a complete meal. Again, the service was lovely and the decor was quaint, so if it's a let's have some coffee and dessert, I highly recommend, but not for a meal.

It wasn't very busy during a Friday night when it should be prime time which should have been a little suspicious... but my friend and I still wanted to try it. They have a nice happy hour menu list which was great for one to come and wine with spreads and small plates/appetizers, but their main meal was not impressive at all. Their gyro platter was just decent and their branzino was not worth anything close to the price set. Kinda fishy in my opinion... the service was very good though although different waiters did check in quite frequently. I would recommend this place if it you need a more quiet place.

I got a Puls'd deal for this place where I got an appetizer, 2 entrees, dessert, and a cocktail for myself and my girlfriend. For my cocktail I got the Fig Vodka Mojito. I thought the drink was pretty good. The appetizer was the eggplant dip which was smokey and unexpected but good as well. The stuffed cabbage was served with lemon potatoes. The filling in the cabbage was a bit bland but with the sauce was very tasty. The other entree was the combo platter which came with gyro and chicken souvlaki, fries, and small Greek salad. The chicken was good but was disappointed in the gyro. There are many other places that serve better gyro meat. Lastly was the baklava. Unfortunately we found a piece of plastic in the baklava which ruined it for us and we decided not to eat it. They did offer us another piece but we declined. We were a bit surprised they didn't offer any discount and gave a quick apology but finding plastic in food from a restaurant is a big no-no. Overall this place was average, was it bad no, was it great no.

Wonderful service and food. Great local dining experience. This was our first time in new locale. We used to go to the one on broadway a lot but we moved and they moved. Glad to say still wonderful restaurant!

We usually love Telio, but the most recent service was horrible. Not the servers, they were great, but we didn't get our food for over 90min. Other ppl who arrived after us got their food sooner. We didn't have anything complicated that would take extra time.

The food and wait service were fine. The kitchen was apparently understaffed and extremely slow; our appetizer arrived one hour after it was ordered and our entrees arrived two hours after. We did not have time to stay and eat, so we had to have it wrapped up. When I got home, I discovered my order was wrong. They were apologetic about the delays and comped some drinks and desserts. I was was more frustrated that the order was wrong and therefore inedible, after waiting so long. They did offer a discount for a future visit.
