Sorry, default tip options being 22-25-27% is an insult to the customer. What a shame for a nice night out.

Honestly, it's a good wine bar but the TIPPING process at the end of our night here really gave my party a good laugh. The tip options shoved in your face on the personal toast device at the end are 22, 25, and 27%. What an awkward moment when we wanted to leave 20%, but the staff member was standing there judging and the options given were far too high. For a less awkward experience, please, I implore you to set the devices to 18, 20, and 22, MAYBE 25%, or send over a paper receipt so that we can write down the tip without ruining the moment with this abrasive behavior.Otherwise, the wine was actually quite good even if the pours were light. The snacks and food are decent-we liked the fries, but nothing to rave about.

Temperance is one of my absolute favorite wine bars in the city, and I've been multiple times for drinks, dinner, and their private event wine tastings. The food, service, and ambiance are always so nice. I recently hosted a dinner party in their private dining area and it was a great experience. They include unlimited wine along with selections of food family style, and the team was so friendly, explaining the different wine types and always making sure our glasses were topped up. Highly recommend!

Rented out the tasting alcove to host my engagement party, and we had just a terrific time. Ann was super helpful in talking thru and serving the wines, and the ambiance was great. Everything was reasonably priced too, and we were just able to have a splendid time. Hosting events in NYC is hard, but Temperance made it super easy!!

Went a few weeks ago. My brother happens to be the Chef. As much as I want to give him a bad review for that time he wrecked my Lego 25 years ago, (still haven’t forgotten Jean) I do have to say this spot is awesome in their service with great wine recommendations, phenomenal food, and pleasant environment.Would strongly recommend for anyone to go. And if you do happen to go, ask for the Chef and let them know Nick hasn’t forgotten and will have his revenge someday.Temperance wine bar - 5 starsChef as a brother - 2.6 stars (…it was a cool Lego)

AMAZING experience!! Came for the Wednesday night blind tasting flight, and it was SO FUN!! We actually missed the happy hour by SECONDS, but the waitress was super friendly and accommodating. The tasting was $25 for three half glasses. The blind tasting was a whole experience. They bring out a sheet where you can jot down notes about the wines and try to guess the region/country it's from! I'm not the most knowledgeable about wines, so obviously had no good guesses, but the waitress did an amazing job explaining everything! It honeslty felt like a mini lesson within the tasting!!The decor was amazing as well. The vibes are sooo good, and it was a nice spot to chill. The food smelled amazing as well, I'll be back to try it next time!! Could not recommend the blind tasting enough though, super fun activity and great value!!

The waiter let me try a few wine based on my comment and the orange wine we chose was very good. Salad and pasta was tasty and not too loud. Enjoyed my time there.

Temperance is a great find. We planned a visit to a nearby vegan pizza place and strolled a few minutes to check out its wine selection.Nestled amongst a throng of casual dining outlets, it delights as soon as you enter. There's a lot more space than you expect in NYC, with a comfortable mix a booths, tables, and bar seating. The wine list is amazing. Our wine server new her stuff, listened to our preferences and delivered a selection of 4 amazing glasses. Every wine was spectacular, often breaking the stereotype for wines from their region to overdeliver on complexity and elegance (my preferred styles).Service was great. We were very happy.I'd recommend following the Temperance suggestions at the beginning of the wine list. Try them! You won't be disappointed.

Visited on a trip to NY recently and had an awesome time. The wine list is one of the most eclectic and fun I’ve ever seen at a wine bar. The vibe was lively and welcoming. Will be my new “must stop at” place in NY.
