Our dinner reservations happened to overlap w happy hour, and so when we arrived, it was incredibly busy, so I think that likely contributed to our experience. While we received everything we ordered in a totally normal amount of time, our server never once asked how our food or drinks were. The happy hour drinks were meh.The lobster roll was incredible. The other items we shared were middle of the road seafood.Overall good, but not great, considering the price, etc.

Spontaneous brunch here after visiting galleries in Chelsea Saturday morning. One of the best burgers I've had in a long long time. Friendly efficiency service. Comfortable space. Great neighborhood spot.

We were quickly seated for our 5 pm reservation. Service was professional and very knowledgeable. The speed in which the HH oysters and apps were amazing. The cod and watermelon salad were delicious and the service Jeremey was perfect. Will definitely return again soon.

Great happy hour, fresh seafood. The salmon is delicious, go with a group get a tower with oysters shrimp etc. Skip the crab claw escargot / salad. Friend enjoyed their fish dish. Lively

Josh is a great server! Started with half dozen Mermaid Cove Oysters and Tuna Crudo. 2nd course Octopus special and Wedge Salad. Entrees Sea Bass special and MAC and Cheese with bacon. All the food was fresh and AMAZING!! Some Tito's and Tenement Pilsners made for a wonderful evening! Thank you we will be back.

The best service I have seen in a long time, delicious food and a wonderful cosy stylish atmosphere. Groups and couples seemed equally happy - oysters, fries, salad with calamari, grilled cod all fantastic - thanks Mermaid Inn!

Another great night at our favorite neighborhood Restaurant. The host was warm and welcoming, telling us it was good to see us again. We requested a window table but they were taken so were were given a table in the side room which worked out just fine. Lyon was our waiter. He was attentive, friendly and handled multiple busy tables with ease. We asked for recommendations and took his suggestion for the special appetizer and special entree. We started with the zippy happy hour spicy martini and oysters. The grilled octopus and the pan seared sea bass were cooked to perfection. The energy and atmosphere of The Mermaid makes for a fun evening. I cannot recommend it enough. Thanks to a great team!

Eh. Sat down to have a quick snack from their appetizer menu. The yellowtail crudo is not worth it. No flavor... bland. Only tasted mild grapefruit and lemon. Leaves a weird mouthfeel after each bite. The oysters were good, and the chunu was flavorful. Was sat next to the hostess stand and it took a few minutes to receive a menu. When I did, its because I was looking around. Bussers were nice. I think they told the host that brought my check that I didnt finish my crudo. Received a complimentary chocolate mousse, which was also bland... Not enticed to return for the entrees.

Always a successful choice - Start with Oysters, Iceberg wedge, and shishito's. Never gone wrong with Salmon or Tuna. Last night buddy enjoyed the strip. Staff is always tuned in and NY savvy. I prefer the room to the left of the bar where oyster booth is located. A bit more intimate and still in the know. My Chelsea seafood choice!

Not sure why Google maps prompts you to leave a hotel review. It is a great seafood place with lots of seating, fun bar area and a more quiet back room with a romantic vibe. Don't miss their famous happy hour, Tue-Sun, it goes until 6.30pm - very convenient for after-work.The oysters were fresh and delicious as well as mini clam chowder in the cutest mini cups. We also loved a decent selection of happy hour drinks. The service was beyond attentive and we even got a gift desert for a small inconvenience we suffered (which they did not have to do!).Food & drinks: Oysters happy hour

Overall we were pleased with our meal. It was very loud in the restaurant, which makes conversation difficult. The staff were very accomodating to move us to make the situation a bit better.
